Coolant cap failure??
‘06 325i N52
Driving home, didn’t have any heat from the vents
No low coolant alerts at all
Sudden yellow then red temp dash lights
Pulled over immediately, cut the engine off, popped the hood, coolant all over the left side evident from the coolant fill reservoir especially the cap. I’ve replaced the reservoir recently, I don’t believe it’s cracked. I reused the factory cap, as the new tank didn’t come with one. I did the radiator last year or so, and I’ve done the Mickey Mouse flange as well, and the OFHG.
My question is, is this likely just a cap failure? Or is it more likely my water pump failed or the thermostat stuck shut and cause an overpressure/overheat scenario?
Any advice is appreciated.
I usually call it quits around 23-25 miles but I wanted to get this today.
