Do you think it’s still possible for a “lightning in a bottle” type of season(s) with this core in tact if they kept it together for their entire contracts and didn’t trade any of them away? (Long rant, please only engage if you’re willing to read it all, thanks!)

It feels like there’s so much potential in this team that you can *see* but then it rains and then it pours. I’m not saying all of it has been injuries because there’s clearly players struggling to perform with some bright spots here and there. It’s like, they’re close to being a division contending team but then they always come up a dollar less to capitalize on momentum and string together a consistent diet of winning series and fumbling in big moments.

Could you still see the possibility of a resurgence similar to how the Orioles of 2012’ were? I know those were much different circumstances but, it felt like that happened when Adam Jones was 27 or 28 and I believe Nick Markakis being the same age as well. Point being, despite being different players from a most of the Orioles in the Mike Elias era, they had a lot of experience in the MLB at that point.

I also consider the fact that with how new ownership has proven that they’re willing to spend, they might not feel like they need to do a “fire sale” anymore since they can acquire talent in the offseason more competently as well as this impending strike where, a new salary cap/salary minimum could have a major effect in the offseason beyond just the Orioles which could fundamentally change how baseball teams are formed across baseball. I could be completely wrong but, I see the offseason of the MLB looking a lot more like the NFL where, you see more teams across the league making splashy moves, even the so called “small market” teams of baseball since they’d be required to hit a certain threshold of their payroll?

That’s all to say that, they might be able to make auxiliary signings similar to a team like the Cubs or Cardinals while trusting in their farm system to produce *enough* talent to fill in the gaps? I could see turnarounds for baseball teams in a salary cap era having much shorter rebuilds on average but I’m also no expert lol. Anyways, this is *not* a doom post about the current team and more a “hopium” about the future of the Orioles with their current core of players. Happy 4th of July and stay cool if you’re in Maryland 🥵🔥✌️

Just bought DXM1 to play on my Switch 2. Now with boost mode, how is the DMX1 experience on Switch 2?

I loved the lore and world building of Titanic Scion so I wanted to experience more of it. Looking forward to playing this and hopefully it looks good on boost mode.

What’s the likelihood of a Switch 2 Lite?

Even if it was listed at $400 USD, that’s *still* $100 cheaper than the Switch 2. Of course, I don’t know if this is what a theoretical Switch 2 would cost but it’s just what my gut says. If they managed to bundle it in with Winds and Waves then suddenly it becomes very tantalizing to even the people who felt the need to tell the world they weren’t buying a Switch 2.

I wanted to like the Switch Lite more than I did but found the screen size to be quite literally just a hair too small, like if the bezels weren’t there it would have been perfect. Assuming a Switch 2 Lite would be the same % smaller as the Switch Lite was, this would make it the perfect size imo. The screen would be just big enough for me I think to where it wouldn’t be a problem.

Does anyone know where this show was?

I haven’t really listened to Clutch if I’m being honest but, I found this video of a show that Clutch headlined in my hometown to be so fascinating to me. I was born in 91 so this would have been before my time, I’m just dying to know *where* in Bowie this show happened.

I did a bit of my own searching while at work but wasn’t able to come up with much, considering there’s probably some pretty hardcore clutch fans that hang out here I figured this could be a great place to ask on the off chance someone might have an idea or have maybe seen the flier somewhere. For context, the two openers were “Dunamis” and “Worlds Collide”. It’s unlikely many people will know but I’m determined to try and find out!!

Looking to assemble a squad for some Star Fox matchmaking

I haven’t jumped into the multiplayer yet but, I’ve been wanting to find a full team of people who aren’t shy about hopping in game chat since I’ve always found team based multiplayer to be much more fun when there’s a social aspect to it.

Preferably looking for people 18+, if you’re interested in making this happen around 4 or 5 EST, feel free to add me or send me your friend code in a message so I can add you. I’m looking forward to exploring the multiplayer with some of you!

Also, if you add me please let me know what your display name is so I know when I accept it.

Does anyone else have “Blood: Refreshed Supply” on Switch 2? Would love to get in on some multiplayer sessions

I thought this retro FPS looked really interesting and the fact that it supported 120fps as well as mouse controls convinced me to buy it when it was on sale on the eshop.

I played a few levels of the single player however I’m not able to find any kind of multiplayer sessions even though it to my knowledge has crossplay. Anyways, I think it would be cool to get a four person (at minimum) lobby for regular deathmatch going on. It would be fun to all jump in a game chat lobby and mess around with the different settings.

I’ll post my friend code below if anyone is interested, feel free to message me yours too if this is something you’re interested in. I know there‘s gotta be at least a few of you also looking for the same thing.

What aspects of XC3’s combat would like to see return in Genesis and which aspects from prior Xenoblade games would you like to see make a comeback?

• This is hyper specific but I really loved the aggro lines in XC3 and how they did a great job of telling you who was being aggro’d even in the game’s most chaotic moments.

• I really like the quickstep function and it made repositioning feel a lot more engaging by being able to hop around the battlefield

• I *don’t* want to see them bring back a system where only “support” classes and revive party members unless using a specific accessory

• I’d like to see the affinity meter make a return, I felt that XC2 added a lot of really awesome passive buffs to make starting a chain attack and losing those buffs a much more decisive action. Maybe they could get really experimental with it and allow for certain buffs when it’s only at half way? (I don’t know, I’m just spitballing)

A return to a smaller party size, I think 4 is the perfect amount to allowing each party member to have more impact on battles while allowing for flexible party composition.

• this probably doesn’t even need mentioning but, I hope being able to switch between party members at any moment is still a thing and they bring back the vanguard system from Torna. Having four party members on the field with four in reserve, this could makes for some really crazy party builds imo.

Anyways, I figured it was pointless speculating on what new things they could bring to the table since I’m sure none of us will have guesses whatever it may be when more of the game is revealed. So, I figured it was a safe bet that some of the previous game’s mechanics would be making their return.

Assuming we get a September direct, what do you think the likelihood of seeing a new trailer for Xenoblade Genesis is?

It seems like a given that we’ll be getting a direct in September. However, with Genesis still seeming pretty far out, it’s hard to say if the next look at the game will be from a proper Nintendo direct or a Twitter drop. The reason I’m leaning towards Nintendo direct is because the game still seems a ways off to where a Twitter drop might be too early.

When we got that second trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, it was to announce that they were releasing the game *earlier* to all of our shock.

Easily one of the craziest matches I’ve played in a while.

Around the middle point of this match, I was getting knocked around pretty hard. Shocked at the outcome, also, both of us finalizing at the same time was pretty hype 👌🔥

Looking for software that allows me to clip videos and save them in their native 4K format (for free)

I recently purchased the Elgato capture card that allows for 4K and 120fps pass through and I sometimes like to record gameplay footage from my my Switch 2 to put on my YouTube channel. My method before getting my new capture card was the built-in Window’s software “Clipchamp” to trim away the appropriate parts that I needed to before saving and uploading it to my channel.

However, the highest format that Clipchamp allows to export in is 1080 which is a bit annoying since I’d like to take advantage of my new capability of recording in 4K. Does anyone has any recommendations for *free* software that will simply allow me to do my simple edits and then save in 4k? Any suggestions is appreciated in advance.

I’m afraid that removing the auto-attack mechanic creates a thin line between Xenoblade and games like Tales of, FF7 remake, Ys, ect.

I understand why people want to be able to press a button and see their character swing a weapon on screen but, I also think it’s a short sighted belief that’ll make the combat feel more “immersive”.

I’ve always liked the auto attack combat system because it forces you to actually *think* about your build, positioning, the battle system mechanics and all other aspects of the game without just mashing the attack button. I’m not saying it isn’t possible to create a deep and complex battle system with more real time combat but I worry about it feeling like the games I mentioned in the title of my post. I think those are fine games but I don’t think they have the nuance and complexity of Xenoblade.

Again, we don’t know if Monolith Soft is going in this direction so this is heavily speculative but, a lot of people think that Genesis might adopt a combat system like that. They’re my favorite developer and at this point I trust that whatever they do is going to blow my mind but I just sincerely hope Genesis retains the complexity of all of the prior Xenoblade games. I’m not a fan of making concessions for people who aren’t as into a particular genre rather than finding new ways to get those kind of people on board with the gameplay systems already in place. I’d love to know what you all think about this.

Does anyone play "SOA: Hollow Realization" on Switch? (or S2)

I know very little about the SOA franchise but I'm a massive RPG nerd and I love games with an MMO-like battle system (Xenoblade is my favorite series). I bought this game on a whim from the eshop because I thought actually looked halfway decent from the screenshots that I saw. The fact that it had online co-op and PvP only intrigued me that much more. I wanted to know if anyone had the game on Switch or Switch 2 and would be open to exchanging firend codes in order to party up sometime.

With the upcoming release of "Final Fantasy: Resonance", what other mobile/gatcha RPGs would you like to see receive proper console releases?

It makes me really happy to see a game like FF: Resonance, a game I had no idea existed in the first place due to my complete disinterest in playing games on a phone be brought to consoles with a a *PHYSICAL* release, helping to preserve it even more.

I really find these games to be manipulative beyond the monetary aspect that they have simply because they know how to make them look the way us enthusiasts of the genre like. So to have this game being released and it look actually very promising is really awesome, I really hope a company like Konami is copying Square's homework and maybe decides to do the same with Suikoden: Star Leap.

Anyways, what other mobile jrpgs look like they could also be restructured to be a normal console/pc type of release? I'm curious since I'm completely checked out to mobile games since like I said before, I couldn't be *less* interested in playing a game on my phone with tons of micro transaction nonsense.

Removing my nostalgia goggles, I’m actually glad they’re redubbing Eternia.

I played Tales of Eternia shortly after it launched as a kid and although I never finished it, I was so endeared by it’s atmosphere and setting.

I think the voice acting was certainly “endearing” to put it nicely but, for the sake of preserving this older game that was unaccessible for such a long time I think think a redub might help the game’s more serious moments land better and not be distracting by an odd delivery or possibly over acting in a not so serious moment. I’m not necessarily saying that I expect it to blow me away from what little we’ve heard but I’d say it sounds a lot more *serviceable* than the original dub on the PS1.

I can wait to pre order my physicals copy for the Switch and finally play it from start to finish.

I’m hoping for a familiar yet-slightly different direction with the music in “Xenoblade Genesis”.

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely adore the OSTs of every Xenoblade game. They’ve already managed to sound different while also retaining a cohesive identity with maybe Xenoblade X being an outlier yet still great in its own way.

That being said, I wouldn’t mind something that’s maybe a bit more orchestral if they can still manage to have a lot of hype and intensity. To put it bluntly, as much as I love guitar as an instrument and its incorporation into the Xenoblade OSTs, I really wouldn’t mind if they toned down its use in Genesis’s OST. I wanna say XC3 had a lot more tracks where electric guitar was *less* present and I really appreciated that about it. The area themes weren’t as catchy or bombastic but, they really hit on an emotional level. I’m not saying I want Genesis to retread XC3’s music identity but I loved how different it was from 1&2. Those are the kind of subtle artistic differences that can go a long way into making something stand out from what came before.

This is all subjective at the end of the day and I’m sure whatever they’ve been working on for it is going to blow my mind but I can’t help but ponder how the soundtrack will be.

Is there a game(s) that's so beloved to you and you put so much time into it you've double dipped in order to have a digital copy always ready to play at any given moment? (No pocket watching please)

I buy all of my games physically and I'm a physical collector through and through. However, every once in a blue moon I'll made the choice to buy one less game a year simply for the luxury of having a digital copy of a game on my system ready to boot up whenever I want to jump into it. I'm talking the S++ tier games that I adore, not just a game that I really like..it's gotta be something that I'm going to put 200+ hours into at *minimum* in order for me to justify it to myself. The last game I did it for was Xenoblade X and I plan on doing it with Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave.

I know I'm not the only person who does this on rare occasions, so I'd love to know for the people who *do*; which game or franchise is it for you that you feel justifies the luxury of double dipping for the digital copy that you know will always be with you on your Switch, no matter what?

I love that come next year, the Xenoblade franchise will have a whopping *five* total entires in the series. We’ve come a long way from the “XC1 fans VS the XC2 fans”.

It doesn’t feel like that long ago to me where there were only two Xenoblade entires on the Switch and X still being locked up in Wii U jail without a remaster in sight. The drastically different tone of XC1 to XC2 was so much more pronounced back then since they felt like the only games in the series for a large chunk of fanbase that was introduced to the series with XC2 on the Switch or myself with XC1: DE.

It no longer feels like you’re trying to recommend some hyper niche rpg and it’s divisive sequel..oh, and “that one with the mechs on the Wii U”. The Xenoblade franchise having five full entires just makes it feel way more established than it was back around 2018-2020 era and with all of the games getting their own native Switch 2 versions, it can only bode well for the series going forward. Now people who are jumping into the series for the first time with Xenoblade Genesis, have an absolute treasure trove of games in the series to go an experience if they fall in love with “XG.”

In regards to the title of my post, I love that every entry in the franchise feels so distinct with it’s own distinct tone and atmosphere. I realize we’ve barely seen much for Genesis but i can confidently say that it’ll continue that trend while feeling cohesive with the rest of the games. I feel like five games in and you’re starting to get to where “Final Fantasy” was at around the end of SNES era/start of the PS1 generation. I’m not saying it has even close to the amount of recognition as FF does at that time, which saddens me because I think it deserves it more than FF if I’m being brutally honest (I fully acknowledge my fan bias). It makes me so happy to know how readily accessible these games will all be going forward with these hyper optimized versions and physical copies as well. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to express how great of a place I think the Xenoblade franchise is in right now.

For anyone who uses gyro and has played RE9 on Switch 2: how are the gyro controls?

It’s not on my priorities of games to play and *especially* since I’ve yet to support a single GKC release but, RE9 has been the only game in the year since the Switch 2 released that’s tempted me to make an exception.

I may just end up getting a physical copy down the line *or* get the game when it’s having a big sale on the eshop down at some point. I was thoroughly disappointed with the terrible gyro implementation in RE4 remake on the PS5, they added smoothing which made it feel like you were aiming underwater instead of being closer to 1:1 input like a mouse. This aspect is what me buying the game on S2 hinges on, so, I’d really love to know how it feels for anyone who much prefers gyro control for shooters. Thanks for any input you can give.

"Tales of Eternia: Remastered" on Switch 1 is a small victory in spite of Bandai Namco's atrocious use of GKCs.

While I *was* at first, incredibly annoyed that the Switch 1 version wouldn't have an upgrade path for S2 like FFT: Ivalice Chronicles did on Switch 1, I just saw that the game runs at 60fps on Switch 1, meaning that if you buy the Switch 1 version you're most likely only missing out on so much.

You might say "well, no duh.. it's a PS1 game, it should *easily* be able to hit 60fps on Switch 1"..well, the Tale of Symphony Remaster on Switch was apparently a disaster even thought it's more than capable of running that game at 60fps since it originally released on the GameCube. The Chrono Cross remaster on Switch 1 was like slideshow at times before they patched it, so all in all, I'm just fine being able to play this game at only 1080 and that includes in handheld with the added boost mode. Sure, the removal of co-op is pretty gross but, I'll take what I'm seeing as this is the only game in the franchise that I've ever liked.

Hopefully most of the people who care about getting this game physically, buy the Switch 1 version.
