ride1up Vorsa turn signals

As I already have a pre soldered 12v port, this one should be "easy" to do as all I have to do is add the connections for the turn signals and lights

Ordered some new levers as its 4+2, and the levers were mismatched with no brake sensor on the left lever, I need to go to the hardware store and get some parts to match the front signals

This also replaces the stock brake lights for a blinking style (One that blinks when you start braking to alert a driver behind you), where the stock light is a "third" brake light, this also gets me the ability to flash front lights (As the front lights come with a white light in them) so oncoming drivers are more alert to me being there for left turns

I already have a 12v horn installed, so this should be nothing as its just wire to wire and I have the wiring harness disconnectable

ride1up Vorsa - Custom Horn

Planning on adding signals next, the battery is a tighter fit (I will fix that soon:tm:), but, everything is hidden inside the bike

48v is tapped out of the display, then, using a 20-80v to 12v gokart converter, i step that voltage down to 12.1v, which then goes through the motorcycle switches and down to the horn

Fully water resistant, tested with submersion to IP67 rating on everything I did

This is NOT an easy mod to do either, but it includes fuses in the controller and fuses before it even reaches the step down converter, so it is not a risk even if something fails

It uses standard Julet connectors as well, 3 pin for the power (1 unused - just to avoid confusion with brakes)

Next stop? Turn signals

What do yall use to organize your tools?

(No I dont live in St.Louis lol - Souvenirs)

But, what do yall use to organize your tools on your desk? I already have spots for the heat gun and multimeter, this desk is full maple and I could care less if I drill into it for screws lol

But, Im just wondering: What should I use to organize my tools and wire? I was thinking of hanging them off the right side of the desk but I couldnt find anything in store, it does look like I already have "alot" of desk space right now but that fills up quick with connectors and other stuff and it just becomes a mess

Also, I would like to have everything screwed down as a holder should stay in place if its for a desk - even that power strip is screwed down

So, what do yall use to organize your desk? Just wanting ideas

The new digital locks suck

So, I am still new here and I work in Electronics, I got keys and a number, been here for 2 weeks now so for the first 2 weeks I used the keys

HOWEVER, they just installed digital locks yesterday and holy shit they're so bad

You have to hold your phone up to the locks, but then it takes like 5s sometimes, sometimes instantly. Sometimes you have to refresh the app, sometimes you the lock doesn't open for 3s, sometimes its instantly, sometimes it doesn't even work and you gotta restart the app (Combined with the fact the app just doesn't log you in sometimes and you gotta restart it)

Digital locks is a good idea, but man, just make it a card not your phone, if the digital locks are already connected to a system, then why not just have it be a card that only works when youre clocked in (It needs to communicate that you have permission to use the lock - why not also include that youre clocked in?)

The only upside I've seen is you can open up multiple locks at once (Like for Nintendo games), but in reality thats such an edge case that it doesn't outweigh it being so bad

290 days.. it gets better

CW: Abuse, death

Hello, and, my last suicide attempt was 290 days ago. My last self harm attempt was 37 days ago (relapse) and.. I feel normal.

Im 18, I've been suicidal since I was 14. I began self harming after my dad passed.

I recently hit my lowest point ever, the only thing stopping me from attempting to commit something was my dad.. he passed from lung cancer in 2024.

After that, it was just my mom and oh, its been horrible with her especially now that I've turned 18, but let's go to the start.

I remember in the hospital room, half an hour before he flatlined, holding his hand for the last time before he ultimately died. I remember seeing him just a couple of weeks before walking, now dead. Im crying writing this, i wish I could just appreciate him more, i wish I could've just thanked him for all he's done before he died, maybe he heard me saying sorry for all the stuff I've done but, ultimately, I was a kid.

After that, my mom got bad, she was a bit worse before but usually my dad could help.

I remember my first cuts like it was yesterday, I would say stuff about it but thats glorifying - I cut myself over 100 times, nothing past the epidermis (because the thing I used was improvised), by the time I was done my arm was red, not from blood (They didnt bleed much), just from cuts.

I've only ever self harmed on my arms, after that I began actively self harming, like fully active. I had a job and bought something i shouldnt have, and, when things got worse with my mom, instead of killing myself id self harm.

I remember sleeping at my old job in the McDonalds' break room because I walked from my house to McDonalds since I didnt feel safe.

Oh yeah: my mom hates the world, she bitches at everything she can. I've seperated myself from her (I still do "live" at her house), but she just cannot find happiness so she must drain them from others.

So, how did it get better? I got a boyfriend (Im gay), and, I got a new job (Got laid off by my old job **while** I was in a mental hospital)

I've been to St.Louis, and Nashville (Im from Aurora, IL), toured Chinatown, Chicago, ive had so much fun with him, he's genuinely the reason why Im *fine*

I've called him so many times at midnight just crying, I cant imagine hearing the person you love saying "Please give me any reason, anything just to not {enter suicide method here}" (This was one of the phonecalls)

My mom is trying to kick me out because I do "no" work (I do housework, however, I dont do labor because of her attitude (Lawncare is fine, tending to weeds or the garden, fine, but construction? No, thats a boundary that she wants crossed. I recently fixed up her gas 2 stroke weed wacker recently.. thats *fine*, just when we want to build a garden thats where I have to put up a boundary)

So, there's been so many times in the past months where I've just been crying over the phone to him, I love him and I thank him so much for what hes done, if he wasn't here I would be dead

I also just recently got a job, I use a bicycle to and from it (Its 10.5 miles there, 11.5 miles back) and, I cant ask for more its fine, takes me ~an hour but hey, no gas money and free exercise (Totally not just me being poor)

Anyways, its 12:30 and I need to sleep, gn

Worth it to convert a Walmart bike instead of getting a new bike?

So, keep in mind this bike is already bought, and, its been a commuter for me. I was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade this bicycle or get a new one, but since the cost of the upgrades do not seem to outweight the cost of getting a new bike, what would be the downsides of upgrading this bike (Besides resell value lol)?

My issues with the bike is the brakes (Stock ones are.. cheap, I've used the Star Union 240PYD, and 220PYD Pro and they have been PHENOMINAL brakes for their pricing, highly HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking for cheap hydros.. genuinely, the 240PY is the same as the 240PYD, it just doesn't have a cutoff sensor so I know they'll already be good)

I also checked the part spacing and everything, only thing I'm iffy on is the cranks, but I could find new ones for $30-70 that will fit as they are just standard 2 piece square/diamond taper cranks

BTW, the Axia comes with a derailleur hanger and 160mm DISC brakes, and a 1x7 SHIMANO groupset so I do not have to change out the wheels and the bike wont be trashed after 1 bent hanger, the Shimano groupset is kinda why I want to upgrade since microShift will be compatible and they are good value

Recommended way to clean out metal dust/fragments?

So, I accidentally punctured the metal casing with a 16mm screw for the brakes (This aluminum is so soft that it just dug its way through and punctured the back casing) [I had a pile of M5-0.8x16 and M5-0.8x10, accidentally got the 16)

I'm going to order a replacement part cover, however, anyone recommend any ways to clean this motor completely of metal dust/fragments? This motor has ~3000 miles on it and I would not like to replace it fully as it looks like new with everything

ride1up Vorsa - Where to safely splice 48v or 12v?

So, planning on adding turn signals and getting this bike registered as a moped

However, to do that I need to splice a 48v line (Or a 12/5/3.3v line)

I know theres a 48v line that goes directly to the display, and Im planning on splicing off of that line as its going to be safer than splicing off of the direct battery line (incase something shorts since the display runs off of 5v)

Ive calculated the peripherals to use 12v 1.6666A or 54v 0.37A (~13v downstepped) and 45v0.44A (~11v downstepped), which the voltages are in the ranges of my peripherals

Just wondering if anyone can think of anywhere else, im not splicing directly off the 48v battery line as I do not need that much amperage, and if I do parallel on the display as voltage remains constant in parallel and it seems like the safest bet

I hate plastic welding, time to sand this all down

Used 3 wires from resistors because its so small that regular wires wouldn't work, holds up strong

How often are part replacements for you?

100 miles = 161km

200 miles = 322km

400 miles = 644km

1000 miles = 1609km

2000 miles = 3219km

Im asking since it seems like Im doing a part replacement every 500 miles on my bike, I have put over 2700 miles (4345km) on it so far
