Love comes when you least expect it
Yesterday my fiancee and I took our two pitties to a local restaurant that is very dog friendly. We sat down, about 10ft from another table that had a young pup under it. The young pup seemed fixated on us and started to bark. I asked the owners if it would help if they met and she said yes so I bought the girls over to meet their pup. Lots of wags and sniffs and after the introduction their puppy went right back to resting under their table.
A lady from another table that had two pitbulls sitting underneath it came over to us and told us that she worked in a rescue and was very glad that we appeared to have adopted shelter dogs. We chatted for a few minutes and told her the story of how we came to adopt our latest rescue, Bella. After congratulating ourselves on our dog choices, she went back to her table and we finished up our meal.
About 5 minutes after we had ordered our second round of drinks, the server came out to let us know that a gentleman who had been sitting behind our table alone had paid for our check, including tip!
I had my back to the gentleman for most of the meal, but on occasion when I looked around he seemed completely disinterested in the restaurant and was glued to his phone. I would guess he was in his mid to late 40s.
I can think of no other reason for him to pick up our check other than as a thank you for rescuing pitbulls. We both teared up as the significance of his kind gesture landed on us.
Since there was no check to present and we didn't have cash, we ordered a dessert and tipped the server what our meal bill was. Tears and hugs followed and we walked out feeling truly blessed.
Thank you Rosie and Bella for being great ambassadors for your breed, and such great conversation starters!
And thank you kind stranger for seeing our dogs as the precious loving family members they are.
