Is it acceptable to go shirtless in your country?

This is a video from China.

In China, you can easily see shirtless guys in the streets.

While many people assume Taiwan and China share the cultures, but it is not true. In Taiwan, walking around shirtless in the public places is a massive No. Not acceptable.

Even if you are jogging with being shirtless, you will get a lot of stares in Taiwan.

In Taiwan, showing your bellies and nipples that nobody wants to see is huge disrespect.

What about your country? Is shirtless in the streets acceptable?

Do Caucasian men really have a massive advantage over local Singaporean men in the dating market? An American guy has recently shared his experience.

He explained that staying in Singapore for 3 months was one of the happiest moments in his life thanks to Singaporean women who treated him like an 8 while he is considered a 6 back home.

He even argued that the dating scene in Singapore still reflects the racial hierarchies established during the colonial period. This sounds quite humiliating tbh. This seems just to be applied to British or European guys whose countries have lower GDP than Singapore.

After reading the post and comments, I felt Singaporean women are more likely to become generous and tolerant to white guys. To be honest, this is quite surpring because Taiwan is considered very hard mode for white foreigners, so I expected the same in Singapore.

I somewhat think that Singaporeans are overreacting to the influx of foreigners.

Look, I get why people are frustrated with the increase of different cultures and values. I also get how Singaporean guys feel about being the only ones who have to do NS.

However, let us think about the history and ecnomy of Singapore. Singapore, a tiny city with 5 million population.

Singapore has a strong economy that focuses heavily on global trade, finance, and manufacturing. Its strategic location makes it a major hub for business and shipping in Asia.

In other worlds, For Singaporeans, engaging with foreign countries and global talents is a massive part of the economy and the core driver of the economic prosperity they enjoy today.

The majority of corporations employing Singaporean workers and funding their salaries are foreign-owned. Driven by Singapore's open economic policies, these multinational firms establish their presence here and generate income for the local workforce.

Let's be honest here. Does Singapore have any local company that is globally famous like TSMC? Does Singapore have any technology that the world needs and wants to have like TSMC's technology? TSMC cannot be replaced, but the Singapore's international hub role is very likely to be replaced.

You must not mistake the economic privileges you enjoy in Singapore as products of purely local enterprises or homegrown technology. Instead, they stem entirely from the wealth generated through international trade and global connectivity

Furthermore, given having the world's lowest fertility rate, it is impossible to treat every foreigner as disposable, cheap labor—akin to domestic helpers from Myanmar or Indonesia—to be exploited and deported. Welcoming a steady stream of foreign nationals to become permanent Singaporean citizens is an absolute, non-negotiable choice.

Recent social media trends in Singapore reveal comments mirroring the insular, anti-foreigner sentiments seen in Western countries or Japan.

However, make no mistake: Singapore is neither a global superpower nor a massive domestic market. This very openness is what holds up the entire architecture of this small city-state.

Face the reality and be positive.

Singaporean was attacked by five Taiwanese guys in Taiwan. However, it seems many Taiwanese people do not believe Singaporean and Singaporean media.

He claims he was attacked by 5 Taiwanese guys while he was traveling in Taiwan with his wife and friends.

However, reading the comments on r/Taiwan, it seems many Taiwanese people do not believe Singaporean and Singaporean media.

In addition, the fact Taiwan is well-known for the most safest and friendliest country in East Asia does not help Singaporean's claim .

I also want to add; for Taiwanese people, Singapore is not a democratic country so its media is under the censorship. They try hard to look other countries bad to cover the bad side of Singapore.

It seems Netherlands is a richer country than the UK. Do Dutch people feel like this, too?

Hi, I'm currently watching UK drama "The couple next door." The background of this drama is Leeds, UK, and the neighborhood where the main characters live is introduced as a suburb of Leeds.

The houses and neighborhoods look so clean and beautiful, almost like the American upper-middle class suburbs I see in Hollywood movies.

I didn’t think such a place could exist in Leeds because it is well-know the areas outside London is not much developed. I looked it up and found out it was actually filmed in the Netherlands. (Buddy Boldenlaan, Blixembosch, Eindhoven)

As an East Asian, I do not know much about the economic dynamics among Euroean countries, but seeing this made me intuitively feel that the Netherlands might be generally wealthier and have a higher quality of life than the UK, while the UK is more internationally famous.

Do Dutch people feel the same way?

I also want to hear the answer for this question . 'Buddy Boldenlaan, Blixembosch, Eindhoven' is this area considered rich area in the Netherlands? Or Normal people can live there, too? In the drama, they describe the nurse cannot rent one of the houses in this area because it is too expensive for the salary.

It is interesting to see that many Singaporeans are losing their patriotism for Singapore

And the comments

Singapore is a really tiny contry, so it needs the national pride that unites all of the citizens across the ethnicities or cultures.

However, it seems many people are losing the pride and need for the patriotism because they feel Singapore has been falling.

I remember many Singaporeans tried to hang a flag on their balconies every National day even when they live abraod. This sentiment seems to change

No wonder many Singaporeans are trying to leave Singapore and find a happier place including Taiwan.

Sometimes I really do not understand Singaporeans' excuse on their lack of freedom and non existence of democracy.

Whenever the topics of lack of freedom, democracy, and censorship are brought up, I feel Singaporeans try to be defensive and cover it up by telling " We are fine as long as we can have good economy."

Dude...there are many countries that has achieved the democracy and good economy. And you guys need the foreign platform like Redsit to criticize your government freely. This excuse makes many people wonder Singapore is the first world country.

Where does the superiority mindset of Argentinian people come from and how other Latam countries view it?

Amid the viral videos of Argentina fans' actions, people across the countries are talking about their mindset. As a non- Latin American soccer fan, it is really hard for me to understand this dynamic because the country's economy is really poor and their industries are still very primitive like agriculture. In Asia, usually poor countries like Southeast Asian countries( the Philippines/ Indonesia/ Thailand/Vietnam) are looked down.

Is this really just from the color of their skin and European descendant? Isn't it more embarrassing that Argentina is an example that Europeans can fail their ecnomy and civilization? I really dont get it where their superiority mindset comes from. Can you explain this?
