We actually made a game together

A few days ago, we released our first big game made together!

I did the programming, 3D art and game design, while my wife worked on the UI, art direction, testing, brainstorming, and gave me an incredible amount of moral support throughout the whole journey.

She was also the one who supported me when I decided to quit my job and take a chance on making this game. I'll always be grateful for that.

After a long road of late nights, doubts, and countless 'maybe we should change this' discussions, we finally made it. The last two weeks of pulling 10-14 hour days were absolutely brutal, but we're finally here.

We launched with around 2,500 wishlists, and have already sold 550 copies in just a few days.

And yes, the dog helped too (Merry)🐶

Love Unity's Editor Flexibility. Built a Custom Upgrade Tree Tool

One of the things I absolutely love about Unity is how flexible the editor is.

Recently I built myself a custom 3-in-1 tool for my game's upgrade tree. It allows me to:

  • Configure and balance upgrade data and economy.
  • Edit the visual layout of the entire upgrade tree.
  • Simulate progression directly inside the editor.

The simulation part is especially useful because I can instantly see how changes affect player progression without launching the game.

What's even cooler is that I also have an automated run simulation system connected to the upgrade simulation, so I can test balancing across multiple runs automatically. Explaining that setup would probably deserve its own post though 😄

Curious to see what kind of custom editor tools other Unity developers have built for their projects.

Planet Harvester: Incremental Odyssey Demo on Steam

Всім привіт! Ми з дружиною нарешті випустили демо нашої гри перед Next Fest.

Next Fest!

[Demo] Planet Harvester: Incremental Odyssey - demo is available on Steam!

Just released a Steam demo for my incremental game, Planet Harvester! 🪐

Pilot a customizable crawler and chew through vibrant worlds—from a dripping Candy planet to a harsh Cyberpunk desert. Start with a simple saw blade, unlock crazy tools like lasers and drone swarms, minigun and watch your numbers explode!

I'd love your feedback on the progression, upgrade, bugs or any other feedback. Game should works fine even on potato PC (but I`m not sure :D)

P.s. Cut half of trailer to left just juicy gameplay.

AI disclosure: No AI has been used.

Is wishlists displaying correctly last days?

My ad campaign has been running since the 19th, and overall, the number of wishlists and the number of clicks have been correlating quite well. However, yesterday and today there have been clicks but no wishlists. I haven’t made any changes to the Steam page or the ad campaigns (I checked the audience, and everything is the same as before).

So I’ve started to wonder if this might be a Steam issue. Can you let me know if everything is working normally for everyone else? Or does anyone know the possible reasons for this 50% drop?

GameTrailers hosts my game, but there's one catch

Joking aside, I was literally jumping for joy when I saw that our trailer had actually been published! This was the fifth time I’d reached out to them, so to be honest, I wasn’t even hoping for a response anymore. I’m incredibly grateful to the IGN team for this feature—it’s a huge milestone for us and a massive motivation boost.

That said, after reading so many stories from other developers who saw a sharp spike in wishlist after publishing trailer on GameTrailers or IGN, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping for a similar wishlists spike. Lack of a spike is probably because the trailer itself could have been better.

But, considering this was the very first trailer I’ve ever made in my life, I’m proud of it and see it as a great experience!

Edit: Added link to Steam, as someone asks in comments. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4448490/Planet_Harvester_Incremental_Odyssey

Steam has renamed its tags, and “incremental” has replaced “clicker”

I still think they should have created a separate tag for incremental games. What are you think? Clicker = Incremental?

We spent 2 weeks creating a announcement trailer that nobody seems to want to host...

My wife and I spent two weeks creating this trailer. It’s our very first experience with video editing and recording footage, but we’re really proud of the result! We hoped that channels like GameTrailers or Indie Games Hub might want to host it, but we haven’t received any replies yet. Still, we aren't losing our motivation!

By the way, we are developing a small incremental game about gathering resources on different planets to upgrade your transport and improve your home world.

Саморобні джерки до кіновечору

Зранку поставив у сушарку й весь день бігав міняв рівні містами, для рівномірного висихання. З 950г м'яса вийшло 250+- джерок))
