El Niño Worries for Christmas & New Years trip

Just looking for some guidance and help on my concern with El Niño weather for this winter.

We have a 10 day trip booked and I’m worried about us coming in and it’s just pouring rain and not a good time.

Our travel plans are 12/24-1/3 staying entirely in Kihei

We have non refundable tickets (can get my points back for our trip there but would just get stuck with credits for our flight back home)

Our accommodations only allow us to cancel with full refund in 11/14/2026 which is still over a month before our actual trip.

Do we just buy travel insurance and take the risk or is anyone else actually canceling/rebooking the trip for another time?

I was planning to propose on this trip and it’s a lot of money invested so really don’t want to get there and it’s a bad trip due to weather the entire time.

Thank you so much for your time and help.

Fas-Top Tonneau & Topper anyone have any insight?

Fas Top Tonneau & Camper Shell combo

Anyone have experience with it? And any discount codes?

It only gives you as shortest bed option 5’6

When the beds are 5’5 for crewmax

I’m assuming it’s accounting an inch between the rear window up top and not the actual inside of the bed.

With tax and shipping it’s going to be $2k to get to CA

Thanks for the help!

Recommendations for weekend with older parents 60 y/o

September 2026
Staying at Juniper Springs Resort. Girlfriends parents first time and are 60 y/o. They are active moving but again live at sea level so elevation gonna hit them harder.

Leaving Friday 7-8am
Take our time driving and stop at Bishop for Schat’s Delicious Cheese Danish and some Jerky at Mahogany Smoked meats

Stop by Convict Lake and throw out a line or two.

Then check into our condo and just settle out stuff. Then drive up to Twin lakes/lake Mary to just walk around one of the simple trails and overlook. Before grabbing Giovanni’s for the night.

They do love wine so might take them to the wine bar in the village. If any other wine spots you guys like please let me know. We always grab a Pina Colada at Lakanuki.

Saturday we plan to just spend a good chunk of the day at June lake getting there early with some breakfast burritos from the breakfast club.

Just relax and soak up the sun.

Then go back to the the condo relax and then head up to village for Saturday night concert/whiskey taking event

Then plan is to do late night star gazing and hot springs.

Sunday would again just be a chiller day. Just trying to think of first timers and easy things they would like to see and go.

Im getting up early to fish at Lake George/Mary.

Monday we finish off at The Stove and then head back home.

Can’t really do any crazy hiking but wanted to see what you guys suggest. They can definitely move around just not any crazy inclines ( my go to hikes are Rainbow falls and crystal lake) but holding off on those this time.

One can ride an ebike but the other cannot unfortunately.

Debating on taking them up to scenic gondola just that it’s $49 a person for a single ride up there

Any other fun stuff you guys like to take them too that doesn’t involve crazy hiking?

Thank you!

Auto Lights Install recommendation?

Looking to install rock lights on my new truck.

Amber and White preferably

If they do have ROYGBIV that would be a plus as well!

Anyone have a go to long sleeve Golf Polo?

Picture for attention and assistance.

Basically the stretchy and light breathable fabric we use for golf short sleeve shirts

Im basically trying to find the identical style just all that you add is a long sleeve

Does anyone know a brand that does this well?

Any Hotels/Casinos with late jacuzzi operating hours?

I’m just trying to gamble, have a drink or two… but also relax for my back pain in a jacuzzi at night.

I don’t want a party scene with loud music and craziness.i don’t mind chatting but more so calm and relaxed.

I do have free rooms at Palms, Rio, Res rock, Durango, and most stations casino.

Thank you!

Worth buying used or any red flags?

Clearly this guy’s business on Facebook

Is it worth buying used or only brand new takeoffs?

Or just go brand new and call it a day?

Help Pricing my Highlander 2017 with 116k miles

2nd owner - Bought at 74k miles now at 116k

Had a minor loss that has small tire rub mark on it but purely cosmetic. Does not impact driving in anyway

I put 300 miles 2016-2018 limited platinum and here’s the few listings here in Los Angeles

Carvana offered $15,700
CarMax offered $17,600

I’m thinking I could throw out there for $19-21k and see what bites.

Just wanting to get your thoughts?

Black leather interior, no stains no rips, side steps, tow package, and roof racks

Michelin defender tires had on for almost 2 years.

Thank you!

Center Console question

Just test drove this for the first time a 2026 SR5 convenience Package (no 360 camera which will be a must)

Everything felt comfy but is there a way to upgrade the Center Console to a full flat area?

I don’t need flying projectiles resting in those little trays to hit me.

I’m a bigger guy and do lots of road trips so that was the first thing that annoyed me.

Thank you!

What to look out for on 23-25 model years?

Got lots of feedback on expensive v8 models. Eyeing some used tundras as i see they are depreciating pretty hard

Curious though. If I’m looking at 2023-2025 gas only

Anything to watch out for regarding the recalls and such? Like would I want one that hasn’t had the recall repairs done/crate engine swap?

I would intend to get the warranty 100k miles (any price range I should aim for being in CA?) i know it’s always higher than other states

Main needs are

  1. heated front seats
    2)dual climate control
  2. 360 camera (Los Angeles parking it’s a must)
  3. crew cab with 5.5 ft bed ideally 4x4

Appreciate the time and help!

Will this fit my 2.0 Compact & how can I get this shipped in CA?

Need an optic ready slide.
Does this carry comp slide fit my MP 2.0 Compact?

Also have a coupon code so trying to save $70 and order it from S&W but it won’t check out due to zip code

Would you pay this?

Pretty sure they didn’t make an off road package on the Gen 2.5 Platinums

So i imagine it’s a decal added by the prior owner

Tried asking for $46k OTD but they declined

Just figured your guys thoughts would be great to hear. They dropped to $48k even but i still just feel it’s overpaying

May as well go brand new at this point

Next steps for OTLK?

Currently $4k invested down to $3k
Could dump another $4k to lower Average

I am willing to take a risk but just don’t want to be a monumental bag holder

The 30+ over $1.00 was promising, and the FDA also was solid

Just wanting to get actual insight on next steps

I know the stock dilution was one concern, with also one hope being a possible buy out

How would I go about following/tracking the next steps?

Truck Purchase Advice

Wanting to upgrade

Current vehicle is worth about 18-20k
(2017 hybrid Highlander limited platinum at 115k miles)

I have $5-10k ready to drop as a down payment on top of it.

Current trucks I am eyeing
2017-2021 Toyota Tundra for v8
Ford F-150 (2.7-3.5L eco boost) 2023+
Ram 1500 (hurricane engine) big horn level 2 or Laramie level 1 2024+

Main needs are heated seats (can obviously do aftermarket but OEM makes it easier)

Ideally a 360 camera is awesome for being in Los Angeles
I know the v8 tundra it’s not possible but that but the tech is very valuable

I really just care for that and heated seats, 4wd,
I can upgrade dampening tailgate, lights, and seats later if needed

Just really debating do I pay the Toyota Tax on a used truck with bullet proof engine and outdated

Or do I go CPO/new with warranty and now up to date technology

Just really hate seeing $45k for a 5-7 year old truck with miles on it

Versus a brand new one for under $60k

What do you guys think?

June 22nd to June 30th Trip Report Ring Road

Minus the Westfjords

Been delaying but wanted to share our trip drove 1400 miles in 6 days and saw a bunch of great things!

Had to skip a few items due to clouds/weather covering the views so just left it for our next trip back as I always say… gotta leave some stuff for a reason to come back!

Overall weather was great!
Super windy at DYRHÓLAEY viewpoint but elsewhere not much crazy wind

This was apart of our 17 day trip
Started in London for 2 nights, train up to Edinburgh, grabbed a rental car and then drove all over Scotland before staying 3 nights in Edinburgh, we then flew and landed in Iceland on 6/22 and same thing grabbed a rental car and began our trip!

Our first night was an Air BNB next to Skogafoss and we literally had the entire place to ourself for like 30 minutes with the sun setting to get some amazing shots!

To give a quick summary we stayed each time

  1. Skogafoss Airbnb
  2. Hofn HI-Hostel
  3. Egilsstağir air bnb
  4. Akuryei hotel Edda
  5. Borgarnes (however ended up in Reykjavik that night at midnight due to a bad air bnb stay SandHotel
  6. Reykjavik with day spent in town
  7. Reykjavik (to Snæfellsjökull Penisula explored
  8. Reykjavik just relaxed, and checked out Costco and prepared for our 5am departure the next day

SandHotel nights 5-8 (had to pay cash first night but then chase points

Enterprise Rental (even with work discount ended up being $1600 with full insurance for a rav4 hybrid helped save on fuel for the long trek

As others helped Bonus and Kronan
Ramen, peanut butter and honey sandwiches and we still racked up a pretty good amount on just eating out foods

Favorites was VOK Baths after constant 1 night stays
All the amazing waterfalls and canyons were lovely

Would have loved more time in place but when you’re trying to maximize PTO you do what you gotta do

Still got to enjoy a lot and had a blast!

If any questions by means ask away sorry for the 1 month delay 😅

Thoughts on price and what to look for suspension wise

Looking at this one out in Vegas

2021 Tundra $66k miles
Current OTD would put me at $54k basically (shoutout Los Angeles sales tax….)

It looks to have fox suspension, fallen wild peaks and Raceline 951MC Ryno wheels

It looks tastefully modded just not sure if any red flags

Price is up there but i would plan to hold truck forever so figure bite the bullet and still imagine resale as time goes on stays strong
