Federal/ State Contracts

Hi all!! (29F &US Based) I have read through the FAQ here on portfolios and where to share photos. Very helpful but I have a niche concern.

I am registered as a federal and state vendor for rendering or subcontracting services. This summer I wanted to be able to secure some smaller photography events to subcontract some friends. Her background is in sports photography mostly but she has done some event/portrait work as well.

Does anyone have any experience with this and do you have guidance on where/how might be the best way to showcase my friend’s work for the federal/state sector? Double points if you are actually experienced with this process.

Any professional advice is welcome.

Can you help me find a pattern for this style of bikini top or something similar for a client?

A potential client reached out but I am having a hard time finding a pattern for this. Can anyone help me to find one like this or close to this style. If you have a pattern of your own I will gladly take that too!

You wouldn’t believe how many times I frogged this.

I have been attempting this beret on and off pretty much all year. I’m not sure why I didn’t just choose a new pattern. The one I was using confused me more than a little bit. No stitch or full round counts. I continuously found myself making mistake after mistake. This little hat has humbled me! I made my own changes, learned some new things (dec by skipping ch spaces instead of stitching together), built some patience.

You all post some really awesome and inspiring things in here! Fun too. I’ve also been working on some cute sandals, amigurumi….that’s been something else 🤣, mushrooms, aaand a prototype for some kind of design for my partners inhalers (always losing them.)

What’s something you are grateful that crochet has taught you?

This Phone.

I cannot put my phone down. I often feel like I am wasting my life away by looking at my phone all of the time. It feels like there is only one time that I was intentional about not being on the phone in order to spend more time making art. I quit my teaching job in December and have been trying to take pursuing my art seriously. I struggle to actually create the art.

I made a coloring book using Amazon kdp when I decided to take a 2 week break from using my phone for anything but research or talking on the phone to friends or family. I specifically turned off all notifications for social media. Instagram, tik tok, Reddit, everything. This was about 3 to 4 years ago. And I have not done it since.

I’m realizing now that this is an addiction. More than likely the dopamine associated with the instant gratification of a good ole scroll. It’s scary though. I will actively want to stop scrolling and find my phone right back in my hand like I didn’t just decide 10 minutes ago to put it down.

What’s been effective for you all on putting the damn phone down?
