DMC5 music is fine but not a favorite (I miss the industrial sound from the older games)

I don’t know why but I love the semi-muffled voice effects that DMC has on songs like Devils Never Cry (the original version from DMC3), Taste The Blood or The Time Has Come. Does anyone else miss that kind of music style they had whenever you replay DMC5 for the umpteenth time? I guess it just scratches an oddly specific itch in my music lover brain if that makes sense

The music in DMC5 doesn’t really hit the same for me and I’m wondering if this could be why (asides from Bury The Light but that song motivates anyone within a 5 mile radius)

[ALL] what’s your favorite version of Hyrule and why?

Yes, Skyward Sword counts because it’s pretty much Hyrule before it was called Hyrule

Just played through the first few levels of DmC: Devil May Cry, here’s my thoughts so far

this game is good (at least for how much of the game I’ve played so far)

-The music: the music is great and certainly matches the vibe of a hack’n’slash game, Combichrist’s battle music for the game is a certified banger and the level ambience when you’re just wandering around is for the most part fitting for whatever environment you’re in

-the gameplay: the combat is pretty fluid and fun to master (like most other DMC games), I really like the Arbiter Axe attacks and also like how they have their own button combo to activate instead of it being a separate Devil Arms weapon. The platforming is also much more tolerable compared to other tedious platforming sections in the other games

-the characterization of Dante: this is where the game starts to lose me a bit. when I look at this guy, I’m like: “this is Dante?” and it’s pretty jarring considering he swears like Netflix DMC Lady from Season 1 and tries to be this edgy bad boy character type (I do like the reboots designs for E&I though). The opening cutscene where it’s just him at a stripclub and then going back to his trailer to get busy was DEFINITELY NOT a Dante thing to do

I honestly think that if this game was not tied to the DMC franchise, it could’ve been more positively viewed. I think it’s pretty decent so far though

The default OST is kind of a banger

I usually play with the Beep-Boop alternative soundtrack because I feel it fits with the pixelated artstyle a bit more, I feel like I’ve been HEAVILY sleeping on the default soundtrack

this is my first time playing through CE with Cursed Halo Again added via Steam Workshop, I dunno why I haven’t played this sooner and I’m kinda disappointed I didn’t play this sooner

I haven’t laughed this hard in a co-op campaign in forever, we also turned the bitrate in the Discord VC all the way down to mock the sound of online mics in prime Halo days on the Xbox 360

I’m sure it’s supposed to mimic how actual planes used in war had pinup ladies decal’d on the front but this is one of the moments where I remind myself: “oh yea the Clones actually have a sense of humor in this show”
