Like the first 6 months is probably the most you will learn, and the knowledge and experience you get is immense. But the next 6 months you learn less than the first 6 months. A year later you aren't learning anything immaterial anymore. and it goes further to a declining rate of raturn. By 2 years I guess you have already maxed out, and companies would rather hire someone younger, quicker, healthier, and does not complain on just about everything like pay, home time, delays etc.
Im local ,and like my current company would make me pick up from a warehouse twice , and each one has 2 different drop offs. The radius is just 15 miles. This should have been LTL as the load barely even fill 1/4th of the trailer. I also go interstate twice a week and there are days when the load would fit in a cargo van. I pull a 53 footer with a sleeper.
I think they could pay their driver's more it's just that they are inefficient on planning the loads.
I also see LTL drivers get priority in the dock where I deliver. Even though I came ahead they just simply skip the line. Why is that? Where can I get these LTL jobs and how hard is it to get in?
Like I see the now retired 69 year old driver on the lot all the time after his shift is over still in the cab maybe reading a book , then I see drivers sitting ias well will waiting for hours for to be called to dock , then another local guy here playing with a tablet when I arrived after work .
Why not go out sit on the ground or go home or walk to a gas station. . You guys been sitting already for hours when you drive ? I sit on the table under the tree on the receiver that someone asked me “ hey can we clock out at 1pm? “ I said what ?? I don’t work here I’m a driver haha 😆
