New Feature Added - Seamless Selection and Header Improvements

Good Day Community,

An update to the mobile version of the app that refines the header toolbar and completely overhauls the file selection experience.

When long pressing an item to start selecting files, the screen and file list no longer jump around or get pushed down by extra toolbars.

Instead, the top bar smoothly transforms in place to show your selection count, a close button, and a quick select all toggle.

If you deselect the last selected item or tap deselect all, the app now automatically leaves selection mode and takes you straight back to the normal list view without leaving any lingering checkboxes behind.

All file actions like copying, moving, renaming, and deleting remain readily available through the floating tools button.

Alongside the smoother selection flow, I have also cleaned up the top toolbar.

The overall space consumed with the toolbar, search etc has been reduced by a lot giving you more space for browsing.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Photo EXIF Privacy Cleaner and Renamer

Good Day Community,

A new photo tool has arrived in the app that lets you view camera metadata, clean private location tags, and rename batches of photos using EXIF information.

When you take photos with a phone or camera, the files often store your exact GPS coordinates, camera model, and capture time.

I wanted to give you an easy way to inspect that information and scrub it before sharing your photos online, or use those capture details to organise messy photo collections.

For now this feature is available on mobile only.

You can find it whenever you select one or more photos in the file browser, whether they are stored on your local device, a network share, or a cloud drive.

Once you select your photos, tap the floating tools button in the bottom corner and choose the new Photo EXIF Cleaner and Renamer option.

When the tool opens, you will see a carousel of your selected photos along the top with three sections beneath it.

The first section lets you inspect all the metadata stored inside each picture, including camera optics, exposure settings, timestamps, and GPS location. If a photo has location data attached, you can open it directly in your maps app or tap a button to remove the GPS coordinates right there on the spot.

The second section is the privacy cleaner.

This is where you can strip personal metadata across all your selected photos at once.

You can choose a complete privacy wipe to remove location, camera details, and author tags, or choose to remove GPS tags only.

You can also pick custom options if you want to keep certain details like capture dates.

You have full control over where the cleaned files go, with options to update the original files directly, save copies with a cleaned label, or export them to a different folder.

The third section lets you batch rename photos using their actual capture metadata.

You can choose from ready-made patterns or build your own by tapping chips for capture year, month, day, time, camera model, and sequence numbers.

A live list updates as you type so you can see exactly what the new filenames will look like before applying any changes.

Thank you and kind regards

Thank you for being on this journey with me

Good Day Community,

Today marks the 5th month of having UFM Pro live, I have reflected on how this project started and where it is currently at, it is needless to say it is a day and night difference.

We also broke the 27k user install base on Google and I am not sure how many thousands of installs I have on the FOSS edition as there is no logging on the FOSS edition.

For all of the OG members that started this journey with me and stuck around and all of the veterans and all new members, without you this project would have never reached this point.

Every feature suggestion, bug report and overall general comment built this application to the state at what it is now, without each and everyone of you, this would never been a possibility as I would have never thought of all of this on my own.

Everyone, each person in this community deserves a warm applause 👏

Thank you for supporting and developing this amazing project with me.

Kind regards

New Feature Added - Persistent Background TV Sharing

Good Day Community,

A new feature has arrived that allows you to browse and manage your TV storage from your phone even when the app is closed on your TV.

Previously when connecting your phone to your TV through the paired TVs feature, the app on the TV had to stay open on the screen for the file browsing connection to work.

With this update, once you have linked your phone and TV together, your TV keeps the sharing service running quietly in the background.

You can exit to your TV home screen, switch inputs, or use other streaming apps, and your phone will still be able to open the TV storage, copy files back and forth, and manage folders seamlessly.

To use this feature, open the app on your phone and tap on Paired TVs from the main screen or network section.

Tap the plus button to scan for your TV on the same local Wi-Fi network, select it, and enter the pairing code displayed on your TV screen. Once the handshake finishes, your TV is linked and immediately ready for background access.

The background sharing service starts automatically on your TV as long as at least one paired device exists, and it shuts down completely on its own if you ever unlink all devices.

If you prefer the app to only share files while it is actively open on your screen, you can turn background sharing off at any time.

On your TV, navigate to the Settings screen and scroll down to the Background TV Sharing option where you can toggle the switch with your remote.

This background sharing service is designed specifically for Android TV and Fire TV devices, while phones and tablets act as the client connecting in to browse the storage.

New Feature Added - Settings Categories and Layout

Good Day Community,

I have completely reorganized the settings screen across both the mobile and TV versions of the app into clean, categorized groups.

Over time, as more options and capabilities were added to the app, the settings screen became long and scattered, making it harder to quickly locate specific preferences.

I reworked the entire layout by grouping related settings into distinct sections with clear category headers and card containers.

You will now find everything neatly organized under dedicated areas for general interface preferences, appearance and customization, file browsing, controls, dual-pane window options, media playback, thumbnails, network and performance, backup and restore, and privacy settings.

When you open settings from the main menu on either your phone or Android TV, the new categorized layout is immediately visible.

The search bar at the top remains available if you prefer typing what you need, and searching will now highlight matching items while keeping the surrounding category clear and easy to read.

On TV, navigating with the remote D-pad highlights each row smoothly within its respective group card, giving the whole section a much more polished and structured feel.

This is the new layout:

Luno Codex Limits on 20$ Plan

Good Day Community,

I am interested to move over to OpenAI Codex, how is the limits on the 20$ plan and how does it work, hourly or monthly limits?

And is there a way that I can get a test / trial account to test it out as I am currently using the DS API.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

New Feature Added - Expanded Media and Camera RAW Format Support

Good Day Community,

A broad update to our media format support has arrived in the app.

You can now browse, open, and view dozens of additional video containers, camera RAW photos, modern high dynamic range stills, and graphic design files without needing external converter utilities.

Video Formats

  • Motion JPEG.mjpeg.mjpg.mjp
  • Apple & Mobile Video.m4v.qt.3g2.3gp2
  • Camcorder / Transport Streams.m2ts.mts.m2t.tp.trp
  • DVD & MPEG Video Streams.vob.evo.mpg.mpeg.mpe.m1v.m2v.mpv
  • Flash Video.f4v
  • Ogg Media.ogv.ogm
  • RealMedia & Windows Media.rm.rmvb.asf.wm
  • Professional & Other Video.mxf.dv.divx.xvid.mk3d

Image & Photo Formats

  • Camera RAW Formats.cr3 (Canon), .crw (Canon legacy), .raf (Fujifilm), .rw2 (Panasonic Lumix), .orf (Olympus/OM System), .pef.ptx (Pentax), .nrw (Nikon Coolpix), .srw (Samsung), .srf.sr2 (Sony legacy), .x3f (Sigma), .erf (Epson), .kdc.dcr.k25 (Kodak), .mrw (Minolta), .mos (Leaf/Mamiya), .raw
  • Modern & HDR Still Formats.hif (10-bit HDR HEIF), .avifs (AVIF Sequence), .hdr.exr (Radiance HDR & OpenEXR), .mpo (Multi-Picture 3D Object), .jps.pns (Stereo JPEG/PNG)
  • Graphic Design, Textures & Bitmaps.psd.psb (Photoshop), .ai (Illustrator), .xcf (GIMP), .kra (Krita), .clip (Clip Studio Paint), .tga.targa (Truevision TGA), .dds (DirectDraw Surface texture), .wbmp (Wireless Bitmap), .cur.ani (Windows Cursors), .pbm.pgm.ppm.pnm (Netpbm), .pcx (ZSoft PC Paintbrush), .wmf.emf (Windows Metafile)

You can find and interact with all of these files directly from your storage browser in either list or grid view on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

As you scroll through folders containing these formats, the app automatically generates and displays clear preview thumbnails instead of generic file icons.

Videos decode representative frames right inside the view, and camera RAW photos extract the embedded full resolution previews instantly so browsing stays smooth and responsive.

When you tap or select any file with your remote or touchscreen, it launches seamlessly in the built in media player or photo viewer, where you can inspect image properties, rotate views, or stream smoothly over local networks and cloud storage.

The filter sheet and search categories also recognize these types now, so filtering by photos or videos in the top bar will include all of your new files alongside standard formats.

New Feature Added - Delete and Rename in Slide Show with timer added

Good Day Community,

A new update for the slide show viewer has arrived, bringing delete and rename options, a redesigned controls layout, and fixes for media playback.

When viewing photos and videos in the slide show, you can now manage your files directly without leaving the viewer.

On mobile, I cleaned up the top bar so it is no longer cramped and moved your photo tools to a clean bottom bar.

In this bottom bar you will find rotate buttons, drawing and markup tools, cropping, saving, along with new rename and delete buttons.

Tapping delete will ask for confirmation and move the file to your recycle bin if enabled, or delete it permanently across local and network shares before smoothly moving to the next photo.

Tapping rename brings up a dialog where you can change the filename while keeping your extension intact.

Up in the top bar on mobile, you now have a quick play button to start and stop the slide show, plus a three dots menu.

Opening this three dots menu gives you access to convert local photos to PDF and open the new slideshow speed picker.

This lets you select how long each image stays on screen, with options ranging from half a second up to five seconds.

I also fixed an issue where the previous slide show seekbar and timer were showing up permanently over photos.

This update is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

On Android TV, rename and delete buttons have been added to both the top header and the bottom control bar, fully navigable with your remote D-pad and highlighted with the standard yellow focus indicator.

New Feature Added - Multi-Slot Clipboard

Good Day Community,

A new multi-slot clipboard feature has arrived, allowing you to copy or cut multiple separate batches of files and folders before pasting them.

Previously, copying or cutting a new group of files would overwrite whatever you already had waiting to be pasted.

You can now keep up to ten independent clipboard slots at the same time, combining items from your internal storage, SD cards, network shares, and cloud drives into organized groups.

To use it, select one or more files or folders as you normally would and tap copy or move.

If your clipboard is currently empty, the items will be saved to your first slot immediately.

When you already have files on your clipboard and choose to copy or move more items, a dialog will appear asking how you would like to handle them.

You can pick any of your existing slots from the list to add the new files into that group, or choose to create a new slot.

When you navigate to your destination folder, tap the paste button on your screen. This opens the clipboard viewer where each slot appears on its own tab page.

You can review the files inside each slot, remove items you no longer need, remove an entire slot, paste only the currently viewed slot, or paste all of your slots at once in a single operation.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

On your phone you can swipe between slot tabs in the bottom sheet, while on Android TV you can navigate between slots, item lists, and action buttons cleanly using your remote D-pad.

New Feature Added - JPEG XL Image Support

Good Day Community,

I have added support for JPEG XL images in UFM Pro, and it is available starting with the 1.8.8 update.

JPEG XL, the .jxl format, is a modern image standard that offers excellent compression and quality compared to older formats, but Android has not had great support for it out of the box.

I wanted UFM to handle .jxl files the same way it handles any other image you might have on your device, network share, or cloud storage, so we built that in properly.

When you browse your files you will see .jxl images displaying thumbnails just like JPEGs or PNGs do, whether those files are sitting on your phone's local storage, a network share over SMB, SFTP, FTP, WebDAV, NFS or DLNA, or in a cloud account like Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Amazon S3, or Box.

Tapping a .jxl file opens it in the built-in image viewer where you can zoom, pan, and move through a folder as a slideshow. If you make edits to a .jxl image and save, it saves back as a .jxl file rather than converting it to something else.

The File Properties sheet will also show you the image dimensions and megapixel count, which previously only worked for formats Android could read natively.

From a file management perspective, .jxl files now show up correctly under the Images filter when you are sorting or filtering a folder, they are included in search results in the Images category, and Smart Sort will route them to your Photos folder alongside your other images.

You can also convert a .jxl image to PDF using the built-in PDF export, which works the same way it does for any other supported image format.

All of this works on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, including full D-pad navigation on TV.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Batch Archive Extraction

Good Day Community,

An improvement has been made to how batch archive extraction works across both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Previously, extracting several archives at the same time into a new folder could dump all the contents together in one place, leading to mixed files and potential name collisions.

I have reworked this so that when you extract multiple archives simultaneously, each archive gets its own dedicated folder named after the original file.

You can access these extraction options whenever you select one or more archive files in your storage.

On mobile, you can select files by long pressing them, or on TV, by entering selection mode with the remote.

Once selected, tapping the extract option from the tools menu or action bar will bring up a panel giving you three extraction choices.

The first option is Extract to Current Folder.

This unpacks everything directly into the active directory you are currently looking at. If you select archive1 and archive2 inside your Downloads folder, the resulting folder breakdown looks like this:

Downloads/

├── archive1.zip ├── (contents of archive1)

├── archive2.zip └── (contents of archive2)

The second option is Extract to New Folder.

When you select multiple archives and choose this option, the app will ask you for a parent folder name, such as Extracted.

It will create that folder and automatically place each archive into its own separate subfolder. The resulting folder breakdown looks like this:

Downloads/ └── Extracted/ ├── archive1/ │ └── (contents of archive1)

└── archive2/ | └── (contents of archive2)

If you only select a single archive with this option, it creates one folder named after that archive and places the contents directly inside without adding any redundant nested folders.

The third option is Extract and Select Folder.

This option unpacks your archives into a temporary holding area and activates an Extract Here button on your screen. You can then navigate to any destination folder across local storage, SD cards, or network shares and tap Extract Here to transfer the organized folders. The resulting folder breakdown at your destination looks like this:

Destination/ ├── archive1/ │ └── (contents of archive1)

└── archive2/ | └── (contents of archive2)

This behavior works across local storage, elevated access, and all supported network and cloud shares like SMB, SFTP, FTP, WebDAV, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox.

Bug Fixed - Android data subdirectory access

Good Day Community,

A fix has been released for an issue where subdirectories inside the Android data and Android obb folders appeared empty on devices running Android 11 through 14.

This was particularly noticeable on Android TV and Google TV boxes where opening an app folder inside Android data would open without error, but the folders and files inside it would not display.

I have resolved this so that when elevated access is enabled, you can now browse all nested subdirectories, cache folders, and app data files properly without running into empty screens.

Along with this fix, I have also introduced the ability to access these protected folders using the system folder permission picker without needing elevated access.

If you open the Android data or Android obb folder and have not yet set up access, the app will show a clear banner explaining the available options.

You can choose to enable elevated access or tap the button to grant folder access through the system picker.

Selecting the system picker will open the standard Android folder chooser where you can confirm access for that specific location, and the app will immediately load and display the contents.

These improvements are available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

New Feature Added - Properties for Selected Items

Good Day Community,

A new feature has arrived in the latest update that allows you to view detailed properties and calculate sizes for any selection of files and folders.

Previously, viewing properties was limited to selecting a single individual file, which left out folders and multi-item selections.

I have now expanded this so that you can quickly inspect storage usage and item counts no matter what you have selected.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, and works across your local storage and connected network shares.

To check the details of your items on mobile, long press any file or folder to enter selection mode and choose everything you want to inspect.

Tap the tools button on the bottom action bar and choose Properties.

On Android TV, select your files or folders and open the options menu to choose Properties.

A details sheet will appear showing you the location path, date, and a complete breakdown of your selected files and folders.

For folders and multiple items, the app calculates the total recursive storage size and counts all contained files and subfolders in the background with a live progress indicator.

When inspecting a single file, the sheet continues to show its size, image dimensions, and your tag management options as before.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Universal Open With Support

Good Day Community,

A new feature has arrived in the latest update that allows Ultimate File Manager Pro to appear as an option whenever you open files from external applications.

Until now, opening files from other apps only worked for a few specific types like application packages and shared items.

I have now expanded this across the board so that you can use our built-in tools no matter where you start opening your files.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Whenever you tap a document, image, video, audio track, archive, or any other file in an external app such as a web browser, email client, messaging app, or download manager, you will now see Ultimate File Manager Pro in the system chooser dialog.

Selecting it opens the file directly inside our corresponding built-in viewer without needing to switch back and forth manually.

Images open in the image viewer, music and videos play directly in our media player, PDFs and spreadsheets open ready to read, and archives like zip or seven zip files open straight into the archive browser.

If you open a plain text or code file and make edits using our text editor, tapping save will automatically write those changes straight back to the original source location.

If you open a folder from an external app, our file browser opens directly into that directory with your files ready to manage.

When opening files that come through as cloud or messaging attachments, the app buffers them seamlessly in the background and takes you right into the viewer without any extra taps.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Extract Options Dialog

Good Day Community,

I have added a new extraction options dialog that gives you more control whenever you extract archives in the app.

Previously, tapping extract would immediately unpack everything into the current directory.

You now have three distinct choices whenever you initiate an extraction, making it much easier to organize files or send them directly to another location.

When you select an archive and tap the extract button in the toolbar, context menu, or tools sheet, a clean options dialog will appear.

The first option lets you extract directly into the current folder, which preserves the original quick extraction behaviour.

The second option allows you to extract to a brand new folder.

Selecting this will prompt you for a folder name, prefilled with the archive name, automatically create that folder in your current directory, and unpack the contents inside it.

The third option lets you extract and select a folder.

Choosing this will extract the files into a temporary staging area and switch your floating action button into an Extract Here button.

You can then navigate anywhere in the app, including other local directories, external drives, network shares, or cloud storage accounts, and tap the button to place the extracted files right where you want them.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, and works across local storage, network shares, and connected cloud drives.

On mobile devices, the dialog slides up smoothly from the bottom, while on Android TV it appears as a centered glass dialog tailored for D-pad navigation, with the primary action focused so you can confirm with a single click.

Thank you and kind regards
