The once-lively historic neighborhood has seen many small businesses depart in recent years
Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. Orioles to Red Sox.
We all know how the cycle goes.
The Baltimore Orioles traded Adley Rutschman on Monday. My first thought was to shame them for selling when only 2 ½ games out of a playoff spot. And they deserve that. But next thought was the symbolic nature of the move. Remember, the Orioles pulled off one of the most drastic rebuilds in baseball history and part of that tankjob was landing the No. 1 overall draft pick that ended up being Rutschman in 2019.
The Paramount Baltimore has survived a pandemic, construction pauses and financial setbacks.
Now, the focus turns to whether the venue can deliver on a promise that has been years in the making and become a destination for artists who often skip Baltimore.
That was part of the Baltimore Ravens’ submission to the Tunnel Vision Challenge, a competition held by Elon Musk’s tunnel-boring company that chose three winners to receive a one-mile tunnel at no cost.
The Ravens won, but ... they promptly quit the project. The team apparently didn’t loop all the major players in before entering. A Ravens executive later emailed the mayor’s staff, admitting the team could’ve communicated sooner.
The biggest thing happening in Annapolis music this summer might be across the Bay Bridge, on Kent Island. Cult Classic Brewing is putting the finishing touches on a new stage with room for 400 in the audience. Pressing Strings, the popular Annapolis roots band, will perform its new album, “A Different Place,” in September.
The team is releasing its City Connect shoe at an event in the team store at Camden Yards on Thursday. Only 350 pairs of the limited-edition Nike Air Max 1 shoes will be available, with one pair available per customer.
The shoes cost $150 before tax. Any fan who purchases $150 or more in merchandise can take photos on the field during the event, as long as the weather allows.
It goes without saying that Big Ben 'Rapistberger' is not a fan favorite here in Baltimore. These words should emphasize that fact

Changing organizations doesn’t just mean swapping jerseys.
Pete Alonso spent a decade with the Mets, dating back to his selection in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft. And while a move to Baltimore meant mashing home runs in a different shade of orange, it also meant a heel turn from everything he had known about life in professional baseball. But it hasn’t taken him long to acclimate to his new city.
There are moments Ryan Helsley might have taken for granted earlier in his life, and the birds chirping in the trees late last month in Baltimore would have been one. He stepped outside, his 13-month-old daughter, Tatum, in his arms, and she looked up at those strange sounds.
As the Orioles captivated the public’s eye in a series of games against the Blue Jays last week, the team’s owner was preparing for an even bigger event behind closed doors — a wedding.
David Rubenstein not-so-secretly married Caryn Zucker last week in a quiet ceremony at the Supreme Court.
It took two months, but the Baltimore Orioles are finally beginning to resemble the team they expected to be this season. The O's won for the fifth time in six games and the tenth time in 14 games Friday night, blowing out the Blue Jays in Toronto (BAL 13, TOR 3)

A lot of American League teams, like the Mariners, Tigers and Orioles, have disappointed two months into the 2026 MLB season
Kyle Goon: The Orioles must restore their self-belief this homestand — if they have any left. Once a team loses self-confidence, the season is done. There is nothing I personally can say about the Orioles that should concern you more than the calls coming from inside the house.
The Orioles claimed outfielder Michael Siani off waivers from the Dodgers and designated righty Jose Espada for assignment to clear space on the 40-man roster. Siani has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
