Why is the gap between real world EV range and official manufacturer claims still so big?

It is incredibly frustrating to buy a vehicle based on the promised range only to see it drop drastically the second you turn the heating on or head out onto a motorway

Why does administrative fee charging still exist?

They want to charge me a 35 pound admin fee just to change my home address on the system. The actual update itself is done through an automated portal form that takes about two minutes to fill out. I get that some companies probably have compliance checks or manual reviews involved, but 35 quid for an address change still feels ridiculous

Highly recommend volunteering as a barcode scanner if you want to try a new role

It is easily the best way to see everyone celebrate their finishes and you get a proper buzz from it

Are supplementary cards actually useful for maximising points or more hassle than they’re worth?

I keep seeing people recommend supplementary cards for partners or family members to help rack up points faster, but I’m wondering how useful they actually are in practice.

Do most people here find they genuinely help with points earning and hitting spend targets, or do they just make tracking spending and managing the account more annoying?

Mark and Margo have honestly surprised me so far

I genuinely thought they’d be the first pair to completely fall apart after all the chalk and cheese bickering early on, but their slower holiday mode approach actually seems to be working for them

What’s something genuinely worth paying premium money for once your income gets higher?

For me it’s probably flights. Once you start doing long haul trips regularly, paying extra for better flight times, more legroom or even business on overnight flights starts feeling less like a luxury and more like buying back energy and sanity

What’s your go-to way of switching off properly after work?

I get home after work and I’m usually just done with everything, like mentally fried and not really in the mood to do anything productive or social straight away. I’ve been trying to figure out what actually helps switch off properly instead of just doom scrolling or sitting there feeling half-stressed even when I’m home. What do you usually do to properly reset after work?

Who is everyone’s pick for the win?

I’m leaning towards Jo and Kush purely because of their momentum, but if Katie and Harrison can get their heads back in the game, that 12,000km experience might give them the edge

What’s one thing people from the South never seem to understand about the North?

I’ve always felt like people from the South sometimes picture the North as one big grey industrial place that hasn’t changed since the 80s, when in reality every area is completely different and there’s loads of great cities, countryside, nightlife, food spots, and communities up here. Also feels like people underestimate how much pride Northerners have in where they’re from. What’s one thing you reckon people from the South never really understand properly about the North?

I always assumed once I was earning properly I’d upgrade everything straight away, nicer car, higher end clothes, maybe even business class flights as a default, but now that I’m actually there I’ve realised a lot of it just doesn’t feel worth the ongoing cost or hassle; what’s something you thought would be a no brainer purchase at a higher income that you’ve since decided you can happily skip?

Seen loads of people move to EVs over the past few years, but has anyone gone the other way recently and what made you switch back? Was it range, charging, costs, or just preference?
