Am I the only one here who doesn’t mind the bounciness and unrealism of BWBA and AEG?

I mean I’m used to watching media with talking/sentient vehicles moving on their own like chuggington, Pixar’s cars series, roary and Elias that seeing Thomas trains move like the cars in cars is just like a Thursday to me and I’m not all that surprised that Mattel took this route.

Though I do see why some people would’ve preferred if they remained static like normal real life machines, the original books were meant to take place in the real world and tried to capture the essence of the charm of real life locomotives. From what I’ve learned about this community is that I feel like there are two types of thomas fans; fans that like these trains because they’re characters that so happen to be machines and fans who like them because they’re machines that so happen to be characters.

Why do I get the feeling all of the these characters (aside from the sisters themselves) are either based on a province of the Netherlands or a piece of media or something studio Massa is into or was into at some point?

What if they are? 😳 also is Roos just Coco with brown hair?

Privacy is an issue in never see taken as seriously

I could be be mistaking about this since I don’t drive myself deep into political discussions, even less with politics about the internet and cyber surveillance, but I feel like this is still something that needs to be talked about more.

I don’t think online privacy is an issue that’s often talked about when it really should, why should the government watch our every move and know every detail about ourselves? Is this even ethical or legal even? Why should we always use a VPN to encrypt our data and be unseen? I ask myself this question every time I see a VPN ad on YouTube. People often compare this to the world of 1984, they may be exaggerating a bit, only look at the negative or it’s just pattern recognition, but theres some reason behind it, how did we even get here?

And I know that this is all because of the 9/11 attacks that increased homeland security to prevent terrorist attacks from harming civilians, big tech companies like facebook harvesting data and sell it or assist the government with it. and I’m not denying that there’s genuine illegal activity on the deeps of the internet and in the deep web, like drug trafficking or child pornography, but still the line has to be drawn somewhere

If Jax didn’t abstract or unabstracted, whether by flash granades or by Caine, do you think he would’ve earned and deserved redemption and learned a valuable lesson?

Hot take: I don’t care for trans Jax

I already didn’t like nor care all that much about Jax as a “cis guy” with issues, why should I care about them (goose said that Jax wouldve been fine with either pronoun, remember?) as a repressed trans woman now? Trans, egg or neither, he was still a jerk and bullied and hurt people both physically and mentally, especially gangle and my poor girl Ragatha. And even if he wasn’t a jerk, there are still other characters in the circus that I like more, like my poor girl Ragatha

In other words; he/she/they insist upon themself

Ok, let’s settle this once and for all. what REALLY happened with the fall of streetcars in LA?

Some say that the streetcars of LA and oil companies bought the LA trams to dismantle them so that people would buy more of them cars or ride the buses they made and/or own that were purposely bad so that people again would buy cars instead. and i just don’t think thats the case or at least thats part of it but dont think its the entire truth. And I just hate to see misinformation or exaggerated truths like these being spread, especially with a pro-transit/anti-car bias to prove a point (so because of this, im not confidently sure if this sub is the right place if im looking for an definitive, unbiased answer if im being honest, because… well you know)

You have to realize that at This time, cars are in fact getting more popular and affordable by the American public and the “hot to thing and the future”, especially after the war. And streetcars everywhere were already too old and in bad condition. and so so that they wouldn’t cause any more traffic problems on the streets (ironic, i know), cities that had them including LA torn them down, with the help of companies like GM and replaced them with buses

Now i dont confidently know how much of what i just said is 100% true, nor am I saying that tearing these streetcars down so that more people would drive cars was a good idea. Im a fan of trains and transit too, of course I agree that they shouldnt have torn down and remove these streetcars and im grad that more and more people of the LA area over the past few decades have turned they heads around for how beneficial trains can be to building them up again. All im asking is what it the definite truth as to what happened to the streetcars of LA and if what any of what i just said is true. Like I said, I just feel like theres alot of bias when people tell what happened

I’m sorry…

It’s pretty clear by now that Jax is in fact transgender, or at least an egg because she never truly transitioned in their time in the circus. there was a stur all around the community over Gooseworx’s reveal of Jax being trans or at least wouldve been trans if she was different. I didn’t really believed it at first or really took it as seriously, i mean this is Gooseworx we’re talking about, someone who constantly has put out s#posts about her characters of her show (well mostly just Jax), so you can’t really blame me or some others for believing that that reveal was a joke at first of Jax being a femboy

At first I thought people were just simply putting their politics where it doesn’t belong, like what people on twitter/X did with the DC Comics character of Starfire one time saying that she was black-coded when in actuality IIRC she was never meant to represent any particular minority and her design was actually based on a Puerto Rican model, still a person of color but just a different kind.

I thought of this because I do have a conservative background, well conservative in the sense of coming from a middle/working class family that comes from a relatively conservative region of a developing latin, South American country. But We aren’t really right wing working class, so much as we don’t really talk or care about politics unless its about immigrats like my parents and my sister (im US born)

Despite this, even though I haven’t interacted with any trans or queer people in person (im an introvert so i don’t really go out much, and even when I do i don’t socialize with anybody and im quite shy to talk to people) im not really transphobic because I at least (I cant speak for the rest of my family with pure certainty) don’t really have a problem with trans people, we dont even really care about them or any LGBTQ people, not in a negative way mind you but rather in a way just like how we dont care about black, white or Asian people in the sense that theyre not relevant to our life

I also haven’t consumed alot of media with trans characters, in fact I haven’t consumed much media period for about the past 10 years or so, i watch way more YouTube these days. The last show I’ve watched with any trans representation was helluva boss with Sally May (an awesome character btw, love her), also an indie show airing on YouTube like ADC. So im havent been exposed to alot of media with much of any trans representation, let alone any nuance trans representation written like jax was in the ADC

On top of that, i do tend to be pretty hard-headed at times when it comes to people getting a point across to me, especially on online spaces like youtube comments sections and of course Reddit. I do think there are times when one needs to be doubtful and skeptical of others and what they’re saying and fight for what you think its right and the truth, you dont have to be bound to what others believe, but it’s now clear to me that some times this is more appropriate than others and I want to apologize for that too. I only “got it” when I made people upset at me and i feel foolish for causing that

So here I am. over the past few weeks, I’ve felt conflicted, regretful and dumb for the prejudices I didn’t know I had, the things I’ve said, done and thought, becoming someone on the internet I’m worry and don’t want people to see me or know me as, even if for most of you, im just some random person on the internet whom this thread is probably you first and likely last thing you see of me. I do want to apologize for my actions and I want to be more open to people’s perspectives, especially if they’re themselves are trans or know trans people

Like what Caine said on the last episode; “I don’t expect forgiveness, but I hope you’ll at least accept my offer”

What character is the one on the icon this sub supposed to be

I wanna say looks like the beast from over the garden wall but that’s not an indie show. Who is it and what are they from?

This sub is about indie animation, but pitching your cartoon!

I keep seeing people sharing their pitches for cartoons as if they’re genuinely are gonna make them. look, im not here to undermine these people or ruin their fun, in fact, I appreciate the enthusiasm these people have on sharing their ideas and wanting to get their own cartoon made. And by “people” I mean kids, no judgement but its just very easy to tell that is a kid or a young teen whenever someone shares their idea for a show

look I get it, despite me being older than some of you, I share that same enthusiasm to also see my vision for stories come to realize and to be a vivziepop or a gooseworx too. But the reason I haven’t shared my ideas for animations yet is because I realize I need a plan on making it happening, I have to take things into consideration, such as how will it be funded? Will the project be payed out of my own pocket or other people’s pockets? Will I have to make a kickstarter? Do I need to animate or learn to animate myself? Who is willing to work for me and will they still work for me as animators, VAs, background artists, writers, composers, storyboarders, etc if I don’t have much money to pay them with? I’m no king, president or celebrity, If I am nice and generous enough to other people, will other’s passion, honor and royalty to me, my project and the art form of animation be enough to make the project work?

My point is this sub is about indie animation, and unless you actually have a plan to make your indie animation project, it’s budget if it has or needs one and getting it made to genuinely ask people to help you on it, i dont think you should just be sharing your pitch/ideas to other people an asking them what they think or if they’re willing to work for you if you don’t have a plan or money.

I found a sub for pitches regardless of plan or monetary status called r/cartoonpitches that might be better suited for this, even though it hasn’t been updated in 5 years
