[Comm],[OC] | Romans hunting dinosaurs!

Hello I'm Lucas, a professional character designer and illustrator, the image I attached is from my Ancient Empire project, a world where humans and dinosaurs hunt each other.

You seem to have liked the last one so here's the next: Roman Empire. This is my original design and illustration of what a Roman in this universe would look like. I imagine that in this adventure players would use the materials available at the time, such as dinosaur bones, feathers, leather, etc... to craft their armor and weapons. Also I had to get creative to figure out a weapon capable of piercing dinosaurs!

I provide the full pipeline of services from concept sketches to final renders! Like what you see? Let's get in touch and have a chat!

Humans and Dinosaurs Video Game Concept Art!

Hello there, I'm Lucas and I'm a concept artist/illustrator working in the entertainment industry! I'm currently developing a project inspired by James Gurney's Dinotopia.

In my version society evolved while being hunt and hunting super dinosaurs. We go through the many empires that roamed the Earth and how they adapted to that reality. How would a roman's armor look like if the had to combat a T-Rex? And what about a templar? Would they make amors out of dinosaur scales and bones?

So far I've been working on characters and how they reflect the dinosaur roamed world, but the next chapter will have a bunch of dinos! I plan on depicting the gear that humans would use to ride the beasts and how they'd be used in fights. The whole project is presented as if we're building a real videogame.

I'm also open to paid freelance/fulltime projects and commissions.

Fallout: Brazil/South America! All art by me.

Now that we've seen team FOLON fully produce and release the DLC sized mod for Fallout 4, what if the next entries in the series depicted new culture rich locations such as Brazil?

Hello I'm Lucas, a character concept artist/illustrator. This is an old fan project of mine I did in 2024 answering the question above. Not sure why I've never posted it here before, but better late than never. I basically did 3 character designs and some weapons!

Do you think it'd be a cool game mod? Brazil has plenty of interesting cultural variety and I believe it'd rock! This is a FAN project, it has NO association with Bethesda/Fallout in any way shape or form, I did it purely for the love of the game.

PS: Todd if you're reading this I'm kind of looking for a job you know... also my art has improved a lot since 2024... my email is pufferartcontact@gmail.com just so you know... *wink wink*.

Lastly I'm also open to work opportunities/commissions. Currently I focus more on fantasy, take a look at my current portfolio: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/QK11X4

[QUESTION] Trouble finding work + data of what I've tried

Hey everyone I'm Lucas and I specialize in realistic character design, weapons/props, alternative skins, level progressions and character illustration for games.

I understand that the industry is in a tough spot, however there has to be some opportunity out there right? I'll give you some data of what I've been trying to do so far:

  • 35 self promotion posts in different places (LinkedIn, Twitter, Reddit, etc...)
    • Some reached out, no gigs/jobs
  • 43 online networking attempts (trying to be valuable and useful, mentioning when links are giving 404, sending possible jobs etc...)
    • Made some friends so I guess that's cool
  • 61 job applications (WorkWithIndies, gamejobs.work, LinkedIn...)
    • 13 rejections, 48 ghosted me
  • 179 cold emails (contacting HRs of companies, indie devs I find on Steam who could use my help, outsourcing studios, etc...)
    • 17 negative responses (can't sponsor VISA/do not want to be further contacted/Rejection)
    • 2 said they have no open roles but liked my work
    • 160 didn't answer
  • I'm even making videos explaining my process and sharing workflows on LinkedIn, YouTube... (video link) as some people recommended online.
  • Keep everything in a spreadsheet so I make sure not to repeat companies/people.

As alternative attempts I've been getting into Discord servers and socializing, partaking in classes/livestreams and generally being in touch with the community. I've also tried to get some commissions and contact TTRPGs companies and DnD/RPG groups as my work can very easily fit there. As we speak I'm working on my next portfolio drop, here's some of it:

https://preview.redd.it/wal6k57fsp9h1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=1724a6586858975acaa9eb5f229d46bdbe06b3b9

I'm unable to go to physical events as the price (and trouble) of flying to North America/Europe is quite high. A lot of people told me most of their gigs were found in events but at the same time they always say not to go with the mindset of getting a job (paradoxical but I get it).

I'm looking for alternatives and ways to improve my search. Suggestions on how to more optimally find work or any sort of way to make money with my current skills. Also I've been studying marketing on my own to see if it helps (it sort of is).

Also number 2: I don't use AI.
