Joining in on the fun!

I picked up a free tall bike today that needs essentially a full rebuild. After my last bicycle project, this will be a fun one!

The plan is to fully strip the frame, inspect the welds, re-do any iffy welds, new paint, some new parts, reassemble, and ride!

It’s finished! My first Xbiking build

Late 1990s to early 2000s AMI (AMIS) chainless bicycle I picked up on Marketplace. It started out 100% original and ended up how you see it now.

I serviced the shaft drive, replaced the original bars and stem with Marketplace find bull moose bars, replaced the cables and housings, swapped the grip shifter for a trigger shifter made to work with the Shimano Nexus 7-speed rear hub, threw on a set of PNW grips I had laying around, and popped on a new set of Schwalbe Billy Bonkers tires.

All in I spent about $260-$280, including the cost of the bike.

Started late, need to catch up

As you can see from the pictures, I (40M) started my ROTH 401k in May 2023. This is when a corporation bought the company I was working for. This is my first real investment account. I was initially contributing more than the current 6% but I had to dial it back because I am the only household income and we needed more liquidity between my paychecks.

I pulled a $15k loan to pay off credit card debt so that was a hit to my account. Anyway, how can I increase the account’s value faster? I should be able to increase my contribution amount in a few months, and if I should move some of my investments out of the current fund I’m in, which is 100% of my investments, I’d like to do that.

I bought this contraption off Marketplace and it is in original, almost like-new condition. I’m doing a light restomod build on it and would like to change the shifter from a grip shift to a trigger style shifter. The rear hub is a Shimano Nexus 7-speed hub so the shifter would need to be compatible.

I’ve combed the internet for information and have found that a few different Microshift and Shimano trigger style shifters were made for the rear hub but have been discontinued. Where can I find one of these elusive shifters? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I recently picked up this bike and need to adjust the shifting. From what I’ve been able to find online, there are supposed to be alignment marks for this purpose. But all examples I’ve seen are on bikes with chains and chainrings. I took off a small cover on the bottom of the shaft drive side but I’m not seeing any alignment marks. Any help and/or pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

All original! Shaft drive with a seven speed rear hub with the rear brake built into the hub. Gonna put some more street and gravel oriented tires on it and maybe some bars that sweep back more and call it good
