Bringing a cat (from California), why is every vet telling me I need a USDA endorsed health certificate?

Am I missing something? The Hawaii checklist only states:

An original health certificate in English, done within 14 days of arrival in Hawaii including rabies vaccine name, lot or serial number, booster interval, vaccination date and expiration date is required.

I went to a few vets today and they all said I need a USDA endorsed health certificate...basically same certificate but they use an online portal to send to the USDA.

Oh and they charge $600 for this service!

Literally the charges presented were:

$200 consulting fee

$79 per rabies vaccination (2)

$450 FAVN test

$89 office visit for health exam/tick treatment

$600 Health certificate

The last one seems not correct in my research but the Vets won't give me a health certificate without being USDA endorsed

Master Oh shut down for roach infestation

First time seeing "Vermin infestation" used in the county closure report. Normally the report just states "Food is subject to contamination from vermin"

And boy is it deserved!

Need help building my door lock system

We have a unique set up (See picture map), our unit has an outside door, which of course we plan to have a smart lock. But as you come in there is a hallway which leads to a door to the garage where trash bins are, and then a door to the apartment which also will have a deadbolt.

Is using 2 smart locks the way here and just use the same code for both? The upstairs house uses the garage as well, so the door to garage stays unlocked, thus I feel 2 smart locks works. Just curious if anyone has a similar idea or if I am missing something.

TIL The Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC is named for a British man who despite never visited the US left his estate to "to found in Washington, under the name of the Smithsonian Institution, an establishment for the increase and diffusion of knowledge among men."

Seems like Brexit was all about immigration, why not just admit it?

I watch people debate Brexit and bring up all these minor rules from EU, but it seems the whole issue was 99% about immigration. Those against don't want unlimited numbers to enter the country and change society rapidly with no control.

So why not just debate that issue and admit that's the real issue?

Do you support helping Taiwan maintain their independence?

China wants Taiwan back. How dare they have "elections" and "democracy". Xi Jinping wants them back.

Is "Sweeper" some new pitch they discovered in the past few years?

I grew up watching baseball and never heard of that pitch for decades. Now in the past few years I hear it all the time. Is it some new pitch or what?

Local Garage Door installer with great reviews uses Wayne Dalton doors; bad sign?

I've heard negative comments on here about these doors. Even though this installer has good reviews, is it a no go?

Considering Mirage engineered floor but have some questions

This is for an in-law apartment in our garage.

Is 9/16" acceptable if we want middle of the road? Or only recommend 3/4"?

Anyone know the difference between DuraMatt and DurAlive? Saleman at a store didn;t really know, just saying he thought DuraMatt was better.

We like the sample of White Oak Natural Smooth DurAlive™.

For the same price we can get 7"at thickness of 9/16" vs 5" at 3/4" thick
