How tall is Lana?

I always assumed she was the same height as me (5’8”) because of the line in Arcadia.

But I just googled it online and it says 5’7” in some places, 5’6” in others. My friend and I were watching the don’t call me angel music video and she seemed pretty tall compared to Miley and Ariana.

Does anyone who’s maybe met her have more info on this?

My BA long haul flight meal!

I was pleasantly surprised. You can’t see it clearly but there’s another piece of fish underneath.

Should I wait or start the search now?

Salaam everyone!

I’m just curious as I’ve been a bit torn lately as to whether or not I should put myself out there.

So for context, I’m F24 and have PCOS, I was diagnosed when I was 18 and put on quite a bit of weight since 16 from it. At the moment, I’m working on myself. Going to the gym, taking my supplements, doing Hijama and inshallah slowly but surely managing the condition to the point of reversal. Alhamdulillah, I’ve lost 3kg this past month.

I’m a romantic at heart, and I’m getting older. So I feel like maybe I should start to look for a husband. But then, I’m also concerned because so far it seems like maybe my weight is an issue when it comes to physical attraction. But also, I know I have a good heart, I’m emotionally intelligent, funny and understanding. I know I bring a lot more to the table besides just on how I look.

And despite my weight, I don’t think I look bad. Regardless, the pounds will drop because I’m dedicated to putting in the work. But I’m torn between starting my search now or starting it later when I’ve slimmed down more.

But in that instance it’ll always be in the back of my head that maybe i would be rejected if I was still bigger. Also marriage is a long term thing. Pregnancy, old age, health. So much comes with it, that could change far more than just your physical appearance and weight.

I don’t think I’d feel good being with someone knowing they would instantly reject me at my biggest. But then at the same time as that, the pool of men seems much smaller (and albeit a little ruder) as a chubby girl. And also, I don’t think the apps and group chats are a good way to find someone as a bigger girl because it all seems quite superficial, but then what’s the alternative?

But maybe I’m generalising and all men aren’t this shallow? In which case I should put myself out there now and not after I’ve reached my desired weight?

I myself don’t really mind if someone’s a chubby. And in fact prefer it (better cuddles!). So long as they’re also managing their health and fitness like me :) I don’t know, I’m a little confused.

Please let me know your thoughts!

F4A

I used to roleplay a lot as a teen, inevitably it would sometimes get a little r rated, and some of the guys were a tad creepy… but now I’m 24 and sort of curious. What’s the scene like nowadays? What sort of fun things do people do?

Thinking of maybe getting back into it :)

PLUS I’m trying to write a book, so it would be great to get the creative juices flowing!

PM me or comment and I’ll PM you, we can build the idea together <3

Role playing with actual other human beings vs AI

Hi,

I don’t really use this app, like ever. Though when I was a teen I did used to roleplay with random people on the internet (probably weird now looking back on it, but at the time it was super fun!)

I was just wondering if anyone has done both? Or do people still roleplay like via text with someone who’s not a robot? I find this sort of trend using AI this way so interesting. What do you get out of it?

There’s no judgement here btw, I’m just curious. I was a girlie with too many feelings and a wild little imagination too. So I get it.

Also is it mainly teens or older people too? Once again, no judgement whatsoever. I’m just so curious because I used to do this pre AI, so what’s it like now?

Lorde in London

I went to see lorde back in September and she was talking about how hard of a year she had last year (I’m so glad she’s doing much better now!) and how living in London and sofa surfing completely helped for the better. Helped her get out of her mind and body.

But funnily enough, she mentioned going swimming in hampsted heath and some of my friends had actually seen her there!!! Obviously didn’t approach because that’s super weird when someone’s swimming in a river.

Does anyone else have any stories of seeing her in the most random of places?

I was surprised because I feel like someone with her level of stardom wouldn’t be stripping and swimming in a public river? But also I love her all the more for it!

Why the heck is our girl holding Taylor’s SHOE ?!

I came across this picture back from Taylor’s squad days I assume and she’s got Ella in such a demeaning position? It’s so odd? Did Taylor suggest it? Did lorde sit on the floor? I’m by no means a swiftie so maybe I’m just pessimistic but it’s looking incredibly toxic.

Embracing my femininity at 24

Hi everyone!

Just was looking for some tips to start makeup. I grew up super tomboyish and kind of felt uncomfortable about embracing my femininity partly because of insecurity, and partly because it felt like people didn’t expect it from me?

But I’ve been wanting to take that step, and something I’ve really admired is makeup. Like eyeliner, nothing too bold but like idk - just figuring out my own style I guess. And the techniques.

I’ve been a bit hesitant to start because I have no idea what I need or where to begin without looking like a child drawing on my face. Also I swear everything’s an ad nowadays. I just need actual advice from real people!!

And outside of makeup, if anyone’s had a similar arc and has some tips that would be great! I really like pretty things, I think I’m just working on feeling worthy of them :)

Thanks!

Married couples: how did you meet?

Sometimes it feels like apps are the only way to meet someone for marriage but also the general consensus is that they’re awful to be on.

I’d love to hear some lovely stories of how any married brothers and sisters met. Just for the wholesome vibes but also a bit of hope and knowing where/how to put myself out there. Hoping for some inspo.

Connection to Islam and Allah swt

Salaam all,

I hope you’re all doing well and are in good health and imaan.

I’ve been struggling with my Islam lately, this happens often a few months after Ramadan. I’m quite a deep thinker, and I’m a very philosophical person. But at the same time, I’ve generally not been feeling myself when it comes to feeling connected to Allah swt and Islam.

I want to learn more, deepen my love and connection to my faith. From what I’ve seen, sufism is incredibly interesting but also seems somewhat controversial.

I guess I’m feeling a little confused and I just wish there was some kind of blueprint to follow for developing this kind of love, devotion and clarity.

Please drop any nuggets of knowledge and your own experiences in the comments.

I struggle to do something for the sake of it, rather crave that inner feeling of fulfilment and love and understanding towards something. And I want that for my faith. I want to learn more, experience more, ruminate on things more. Are there any good resources/ways to develop this?

Writing friends

Hi all!

I’m looking to make some more friends who are writers/aspiring writers. It would be great if you’re Uk based. Maybe we can share work, discuss what we’re reading/working on and chat about how to keep on top of posting on Substack/whatever else people are currently working on haha.

I’m F24 from the UK.

Lmk if you’re interested!

Also are there any smaller, niched subreddits that are still active and good for building a writing community and making more friends?

Thanks all!

Travelling to China give me some recs!!!

My friend (25F) and I (24F) are planning a China trip in the beginning of August . It’s gonna be pretty jam packed - staying a few nights and then travelling.

The places we’ve planned for are 2 nights in Hong Kong, 2 nights in taipei, 1 night in shenzen, then 3 nights each in xi’an and shanghai.

For context we’re two brown Muslim girls from the uk and I’ll be our first time doing such a big trip outside of Europe :)

I’d love to know if anyone has any top tips, places to go, things to be careful of and insider secrets/hidden gems.

Any advice will be put to very good use and will be appreciated a ton.

Thanks Reddit!
