It took a few tries but now I get it

I lagged a bit on riding the Dubai chocolate hype train but I've tried a few now of varying brands and some were better, but nothing hype-worthy. Enter GO starting to get a few different Dubai things.

This is a Dubai chocolate thing that actually wowed me a bit. It is stuffed with that crunchy kataifi paste, which is the main point of this stuff, right? Some I've had barely had any. White chocolate so not much flavor from that but you get some of the matcha coming through.

GO price $5, "compared to" price $20. It's a half pound. Made in Turkey. They had a few different flavors and I think I'll try the hazelnut one next.

Auburn, WA location.

Phenomenal Di Fara

One of the best frozen pizzas I've had. 9/10

The sauce is bright and fresh tomato-y, pleasantly salted. You notice it on this pizza. It's not cooked to oregano ketchup or tomato paste with an old jar of Italian seasoning diluted with water. It tastes like what you'd get from a Neopolitano style place on their margarita pizza.

The pepperonis cup and have a quality flavor. I'm a sucker for cuppers and these are nicely well rounded in flavor too and not overly greasy.

Cheese has a solid mozz taste and good texture.

The pop of basil was a great choice here. It ties the previous 3 ingredients together and compliments each one individually and harmoniously as a team.

Crust is solid but this is the only place I think it could be even better. I ate the crust ends so it's not like I'm knocking it. I'd like the inside of the ends to be a little chewier and airier. Maybe a slightly longer proofing or less air worked out when stretching? Maybe a little more yeast character?

I'm curious to try the oil in a sheet pan thing on their instructions and since this pizza is only $9 reg price at Walmart I will definitely get again to do it. This is a fantastic pizza at $9.

Auburn, WA: Rachelli's is back & w/more flavors, plus gluten free pizza 3ct

I really liked the tiramisu from Rachelli's, plus the lemon cake and chocolate one. Just ate the caramel one and it's yum too but coffee is my more style, so I got the big one for $5.

Quickee pho (cup pho stepped up)

Sometimes I feel lazy and don't want to make the broth, so I'll buy a couple pho cup noodle things, simmer water with whole spices to boost the pho character to use for the cups, add fish sauce and a pinch of gelatin, and use it to make the cup pho. Asian grocer had a 10oz pack of thin sliced chuck steak on sale, I got all the toppings.

Edit: also added more salt and some Asian rock sugar. It's a big bowl.

My favorite breakfast from McDonald's

Steak bagel and steak McMuffin, with the McMuffin stuffed with a hash brown with unsweet tea to wash it down. And pepper.

I made clarified butter and ghee from 3lbs of Kerrygold

Clarified butter on the left and ghee and the right. Milk solids will be used for vanilla ice cream toppings!

I made clarified butter and ghee from 3lbs of Kerrygold

One pot, pulled the clarified butter at 225F and the ghee at 260F. The bigger one on the left is clarified butter.

My Grocery Outlet had tons of it absurdly cheap.

BTW, I discovered flour sack towels and they are so much better (and cheaper) than cheesecloth. I used one to strain here. Just fine mesh cotton and reusable, unlike cheesecloth. I think I paid $5 for a pack of 5 and they specifically say for food use.

I plan to use my milk solids as a topping for some vanilla ice cream!

Larger curbside tips = more GMD drops?

Tipped curbsides being diluted with GMD, bigger$=more GMD drops?

Anybody else noticing this? I keep seeing the bigger curbside delivery payouts (the part from the customer) having more GMD drops, usually until it's diluted to roughly one buckaroo a mile without double back miles factored in.

I think they finally figured out a way to break cherry pickers who focus on curbside.

Will they figure out a way to break the cherry pickers who focus on express shops? Add a GMD to every shop? Someone will take it no matter how bad.

Hallux Limitus big improvement: 1 month

Tdlr: I bought Brooks Ghost Max 3's (wide) and a Powerstep Mortons Extension insole. I can walk a lot now without hallux limitus pain. Both things keep the big toe from lifting in different ways, so my thinking was the benefit would be additive. I'm happy.

I walk a lot and after moving to the Seattle area I walk even more because it's so beautiful everywhere. But I think the terrain here, extremely hilly, exacerbated a budding problem until it became noticeable enough to try to find a solution. Some days it would actually be painful and that's no good. It's mostly my right foot and honestly, I haven't always been good about replacing shoes when they're due which doesn't help

Just slapping a nicer Dr Scholls insole into a shoe I liked didn't work. So I looked into what the problem was and how to address it. It seems I almost certainly have hallux Limitus and I'd like to slow the progression to rigidus as much as possible on the footwear end. I settled on the Brooks Ghost Max 3 and Morton Powerstep insole. They're both supposed to keep the big toe from moving upward, the shoe mostly with how your foot hits the ground and the carbon fiber insole keeps the shoe from bending (and lifting your big toe) as your foot step rolls.

Immediate relief and the lingering pain subsided within a few days. I've had them a month now and love the combo. Walking feels good now. Now I rarely have mild pain, really more of a dull ache than pain. If you want to try the insole, make sure to get a compatible shoe. It was recommended to get in wide and I'm happy with that choice. The arch support on the insole is aggressive at first but give it a week to mold to your feet. I replaced the Brooks insole with the Powerstep insole, per instructions. The Ghost Max 4 is about to come out, so the 3 is discounted to $120 which was nice. The insole was $80. I read it's best to have two sets to give the shoe sole a chance to fully reinflate or something after a lot of walking so I'm gonna get a cool looking GM 4 to supplement the white 3's.

Trying out the camera on a cloudless day: Flower Edition

I did the basics recommended with the camera assistant and other unlock things via the app store. Coming from an S21 FE it's quite an upgrade. Really love this phone.

Ghost fire green with crispy porky belly over rice

I saw this on a Chinese Cooking Demystified video, it sounded tasty, I like rice and porky belly.

Will definitely make again. I took the suggested creativity to heart and added some kimchi and soybean sprouts.

$35 to make someone's midnight firepit S'mores dreams come true

I got an offer right before midnight while sitting at home. A shop. 3 unique items. I figure out what's going on. It's 20 miles (a loop, so only a few miles back to my home afterwards) but the pay is good considering the drop point, mostly highway and I get 50mpg. Midnight with no traffic.

Dude is waiting for me, all excited. He's "you saved our party night! We have a fire and needed S'mores!". He's got another $7 cash. When he walks back through the gate to the back yard I hear him yell "we got the S'mores!!!". I'm by Seattle so I assume at least half the people there are high. I hear cheers ring out.

Just wanted to share a positive story. Doordash has been very kind to me this week, so I'll be mutual.

Data not working in greater Seattle area the past few hours?

My signal has been absolutely horrible or completely non-existent since a few hours ago. Phone is a Galaxy S21 FE. Really sucked that it went down when I was driving in an unfamiliar area and the GPS quit working but made it back home to the city of Auburn, WA just south of Seattle. Still no data for me as of 8:20pm.

I did find a software update. Did it. No change. Tried airplane mode for 15 seconds, tried having the ATT chat bot refresh my network connection, went through its troubleshooting steps, etc. Nothing seems to help and it was working fine this morning, so I'm guessing the problem is with ATT?

$10 worth of GO food in the two bowls plus deals I saw (Auburn, WA)

I added the mushrooms (after browning) to the chicken and some of GO's pasta. A little salt, etc and pretty tasty. The potatoes are flavorful without being overly salty, thr parm crust adds some texture.

I'd say this is food for two people?

$5 chicken scampi

$3 parmesan potatoes medley

$1.50 worth of mushrooms

$1 worth of pasta

Dappled Willow

I saw this while driving and had to turn around to get a photo. Seems it's a dappled willow from across the ocean?

Pacific, WA

This is my first spring living in the pacific northwest and it has been really something. Just passed a full year. I've also discovered rhododendrons and the many colors they come in.

Proof for those who said it wasn't possible

When I posted asked if anyone else got a Luxe Box and dumped their cheesy potatoes into their bean burrito, some said it was impossible to refold the burrito without tearing.

I said next time I got a Luxe Box I'd take more pics, so here it is.
