RR window inoperative. Had to change the inner door panel to fix something that never should have happened.

2016 Tucson Eco. 115k miles (US model).

Bought the car 4 months ago from a reputable, local Hyundai dealer. Within a week we discovered that the A/C would not cool when the car was idling. Additionally, the remote would not unlock the driver’s door.

Took the car in for repair and they fixed both problems for no charge. (AC needed a compressor and door lock cable had stretched…a common problem). We were lucky on the door lock cable, because Hyundai had extended the warranty on those to ten years, and we were just over).

Anyway, a few weeks ago, the RR window stopped working. And it dropped so that it was always open at least a few inches. Research shows that this happens….a LOT. So I bought the proper repair part (The entire interior door panel) from Amazon. And set about replacing it. Fun

You tube videos helped, but none are great, so had to look at a few. And there are a LOT of steps to get the old panel out of the car.

Finally got it all finished, and I’m appalled at what Hyundai engineers considered acceptable when designing the window mechanism in this (and probably most) Hyundais.

There is no way this cheesy little set of plastic gears could be expected to not break after cycling just a few times. The fact that they held up for ten years is amazing.

The gear on the window motor seems to be made of a better plastic (Everything in this mechanism SHOULD be metal), and it hadn’t worn out. The female part of the gear in the door panel is made of shittier plastic and basically turned to dust (see pic)

Took me 2 hours in the Florida heat to get this done (and I was a mechanic years ago, so I’d guess that a dealer will charge 3 hours for labor).

Boiling water to make something. Pan started this on its own after a few minutes. Regular cooktop, not convection. Plain old Revereware bean pan

Need a good camping spot within a couple hours of Tucson. Gonna throw an air mattress in the back of the El Camino and spend a night under the stars.

Does Spacex advertise a trajectory ahead of time?

Hey guys,

I live just South of Tucson, AZ and if the sun angle is right, and it's a clear night, we can usually get a decent jellyfish view (If I climb up on my roof).

I actually drove up towards Madera Canyon to get a better view, so I could see over our local copper mine. Watched the launch on my phone as the vehicle departed almost on schedule, and I waited and waited, but the rocket never became visible.

Was it a super low trajectory that night? Launched a couple minutes after 8PM here, and the son was at the perfect angle, about 10 minutes below our horizon.

Is there a way to see what the trajectory will be prior to launch...

EDiT: The term I was looking for is inclination

Thanks much!

Pic is from my view in the same spot on 24 June this year. (Vandenberg -->Tucson, about 600 miles away)

Pioneer 6" 10 ohm speakers. Can't determine polarity.

Just got a pair of these Pioneer speakers from a guy on eBay. I needed 10 ohm speakers for my vintage 8-track player. They look OK, and don't appear to have been installed before

No idea which side is positive and which is negative though.

UPDATE: Got the answer(s) I needed! Thanks for the quick responses guys!

Didn't feel like taking my blood pressure pill this AM, so I carried it to the table with me and had some coffee. I put the pill on my notebook so I wouldn't lose it, and it was right next to the hole. I had to see if it would go in there...

Met a gentleman with this symbol on his bike. He’s in his 90’s. Think he’s got some stories?

Can I use my car's smart charger to power my 8-track player (12v input for the player, no idea about the amperage) to bench test it? Smart charger has a few different settings for car, motorcycle, etc)

In 2010 the guys who worked for me gave me a sign when I moved to a new city (for the same office). This was the coolest thing anyone has ever done for me.

Toaster lamp inspired me to post a pic of my blender....

Found a 50's blender in an antique store, heavy duty glass jar.

Pulled out the guts, incorporated a volt meter and light socket and now it works!

Well, it's a lamp, not a blender, but that's OK.

I'm loving the looks, price point and concept of the Slate truck. If Mr. Slate reads these posts, a request...

Alpha Motor is obviously never going to build their ACE. Request that Slate buy the design from Alpha and build this car next.
Thank you.
