What string sets do you prefer for C standard?

I’ve always bounced around between brands and gauges, ie Ernie Ball Not Even Slinkys, Dunlop Heavycore 54s, D’Addario 12-54, Dunlop XL 13-56 etc. I tried out a set of D’Addario 12-60s which packaging says is “optimized” for C but personally found that 60 gauge sixth string to be a touch too fat for that tuning. Love em for B standard though haha.

Mostly just curious what kind of experiences and preferences other people have and if anyone has even really been able to notice a difference between brands. (Personally I don’t, but, that’s just me).

TCB Slim 50s, tons of wears, handful of soaks

Can’t for the life of me tell you how many wears exactly. Soaked with detergent and hang dried a few times, never run through a machine wash cycle though.

Gibsunday - 2016 Explorer

Or “X-plorer” as I believe this model was called? Not sure if there’s any real difference between this and a standard Explorer? Bought it off a guy I’d been jamming with at the time for about $1200, came with the usual 490r / 498t pickups which I later swapped out for some Lace Dissonant Aggressors. Original pick guard was white which I also swapped out.

One of my favorites I own for sure.

Bill Kelliher and Brent Hinds guitars

Two of my favorite guitars - the Bill Kelliher signature Gibson Explorer and the Brent Hinds signature Woodrite Vagabond. Replaced the stock pickups in the Vagabond with a Lace Kelliher signature Dissonant Aggressor in the neck and a Lace Brent Hinds signature Hammerclaw in the bridge 🔥

Having difficulty mounting a neck pickup to the guard?

I have a MIM Telecaster with a set of Twisted Tele pickups in it and it looks like the holes in the neck pickup frame take metric screws? So trying to use the imperial screws that were used to mount it to the body won’t stay put.

Looking online I’m not seeing any metric screws for the neck pickup? It’s all imperial sets.

(I’d had these pickups initially installed back in 2016 or so before I’d known how to solder and the tech mounted the pickup to the body.

I didn’t really think much of minor question it at the time because I was dumb and didn’t think I’d ever really learn to do this stuff myself. Ended up selling the stock pickup set along with the screws)

2016 Explorer

Bought it off a friend back in 2017. Replaced the pickups not long after that with a set of Lace Sensor Dissonant Aggressors and just yesterday put a fresh set of Thomastik-Infeld Power Brights.

NPD - Friedman BE-OD

Been wanting one of these for a while, finally got around to grabbing one used on Reverb. Thought the gain was surprisingly low until I looked up online and read about the trim pot. Popped it open and the previous owner had dialed it back considerably. Dimed it, dimed the main knob, and now I’m firmly in Mastodon territory.

I’ve been wanting to get a looper for a while just to record myself playing rhythm parts and then practicing leads over them but the pedal I have (DigiTech Jam Man Express) is kind of a pain in the ass to use.

I’ve been looking at either an MXR Clone or a Boss RC5 but I’ve also read good things about the TC Ditto. Anyone have experience with these? Thanks!

Rider’s Room 4331

Bought these early last year and never got around to wearing them for some reason. Finally starting to break them in today. Not factory seconds, but also don’t have the Rider’s Room stamp, which I honestly prefer.

I have a 1978 Artist with a cracked neck pickup mounting ring that’s on the verge of splitting apart and need to replace it, but far as I can tell none of the proline or otherwise readily available models will fit it or align with the screw holes?

It’s one of the rings with three holes (two height screws on one side and one on the other), which, I’m not too hung up on, as you could easily just use the middle screw position on the side with two holes.

Always thought this “alternate” Remission CD layout (top) was cool. It’s not a special edition or anything like that, not that I can tell. No bonus tracks or what have you. Just looks like some editions of the album were pressed with slightly different artwork layout.

I have an old Blackout Effectors Twosome fuzz that’s been acting up out of nowhere lately. Power cuts in and out, and volume intermittently fluctuates (often to the quiet end) without adjusting knobs, which I’ve tried to capture here.

I’ve tried taking the pedal out of the chain and plugging it into an isolated power source independent of the signal chain/power supply and it behaves the same way?

I pulled the plastic slots out of an old wooded cd shelf since they don’t fit all cd cases, and now I need to remove the dried glue strips that were holding the plastic panels in place. What would be the best method for softening them up to pry them off without leaving a bunch of gunk? Thanks!
