Artie trying so hard to deny/reject his whiteness 😂

“No me gusta!”

“Down with the Broooown!” (Ew)

Bieste: “Are we seeing more ethnic Maria’s?”

Artie: “That’s offensive.”

“Oh hells no!”

“Bye, white people!” (My favorite)

And we CAN’T forget the dreads…

Have I missed any?

Need to rant/vent about ridiculous argument with coworkers

TLDR because I thought I could say this in just a couple paragraphs 😭: I’m supposed to be on drive thru taking orders and the guy coworker on bar starts jumping ahead of me to answer every customer while also making the drinks. later on he answers a customer in drive then turns his mic off to talk to another customer inside instead of letting me handle them.

I stopped trying to do drive by that point but then he gets back I didn’t answer the customers for him after he was free a moment later to continue his order with them. The other barista we’re working with complains to me that I’m doing tasks she was planning to do which is wasting time and getting us behind. I was also on food station and she says I didn’t need to clean it off even though it was dirty, and when I was taking an order in cafe she interrupts to ask me to go back to drive as if I didn’t know I was on drive and as if the guy barista wasn’t completely taking over. She said someone was at the speaker even though I was in the middle of an order with cafe people and she was completely free and able to take the drive order herself yet didn’t.

Later she asks me why I’m not taking the order the guy barista started. I take it, the customers are difficult and non communicative, they say they’ll order inside, and I leave it there turn my mic off. I knew it’d be better to end it than respond and accidentally let my irritation into my voice when responding to them. they both get pissed and argue with me over how I didn’t respond to the customers after I said that, I say it didn’t really require one, that was my honest opinion, they start arguing and trying to go back and forth with me until it deescalated into something else and officially got me worked up after a sucky shift already. They do these irritating actions all the time and i never say anything but ofc when i finally do everything has to go to tell. I can’t wait to leave this job soon. Just really needed to vent after all that bs.

Full thing: I’ve worked for Starbucks for about ten months now and it’s been hell. Not because of the customers or the job itself, strictly because of the coworkers.

Today specifically, a coworker who has always tried to do everything himself despite us being placed on various stations did it again today. I’m on drive thru while he’s supposed to be on bar making drinks. When I clock in I take multiple orders and we all have headsets on so it’s known and established I was put on drive thru orders. After a few orders, he proceeds to take every order by turning on his mic faster than mine and answering the customer. I thought maybe since I was doing other things like switching and refilling the syrup bottles he figured I wouldn’t be able to answer it that him answering instead would be more helpful. It wasn’t, we take orders and multitask all the time. I don’t say anything since I didn’t really mind not having to take the order and he’s always so weirdly happy to try and do everything himself.

At a later point I’m taking orders in the cafe, the other barista working with us interrupts me in the middle of talking to the customers to ask me to go back to drive. It’s known, but if you’re taking orders on drive-through, you’re typically supposed to take orders in the café and make the food as well. I casually tell her that I know I’m on drive and that the male barista just keeps hopping on the orders before I can and she says OK and that there’s someone at the speaker, yet she won’t answer herself despite clearly being free to. At a different point I was wiping off the food station because jt was dirty and she was complaining that I didn’t need to do it because she was going to do it and it’s wasting time. We’re at a slow pace and were on track and nothing needed to be done urgently so at this point, I’m not sure what she’s stressing over because she’s not usually like that and so controlling.

It goes on like that until he takes another order. I was about to answer, they say they need a second to decide, he says he’ll be ready and waiting for them when they know what they want, then proceeds to talk to some customers who came up to the counter I think with a complaint. I didn’t see them with the task I was working on, but knew they were there when I heard them start talking to them. A moment later he’s finished talking with them, but doesn’t respond when the car at the speaker says they’re ready to order. I assume that he’s about to get back with them since he keeps insisting on answering and didn’t want to do the awkward thing where we both start talking over each other to answer and then I get thrown off. In situations like this usually someone would’ve said, asked if I could finish the order on drive for him or, what makes even more sense, let me get the people in the café while they finish the order they started in the first place. Or simply hopped back on the mic to say “I’m sorry one moment please” like we’ve all done. The older woman barista from before hops on to continue the order, then just hops back off when they start listing their drinks to tell me again that I’m supposed to be on drive clearly irritated. At first I say how insisting to answer all the orders before I can’t, then forget it and try to take their order. At this point I’m not playing the game of
If he’s insisting on bumping me out of my position and unnecessarily doing everything like he wants, he’s going to do it and I’m not hoping back in where he starts to slack.

They try to order a French vanilla iced coffee, I ring up an iced coffee with vanilla and they say it’s not what they wanted so I ask and repeat what they said to make sure, then when the say exactly what I just said but still saying French, I decide to clarify we don’t have French vanilla, just vanilla syrup. They’re silent for a little while, giving no response until they say they’re going to come inside and order. They weren’t mean really but more so rude when I’m trying to ask them what’s the correcting drink and letting them know what we don’t have but won’t actually answer or even try to figure it out when we just started the order. At first I’m silent because I’m in my head trying to figure out what’s going on with them when they’re being so strange about the whole process. I had expected them to drive off, and but the time I stopped doing mental gymnastics to try and figure them out, I decided to just let them come in like they said and turned my speaker off. Normally I would’ve responded but I was at a bit of a loss with their responses and found it better to let them drive off rather than try and fail at keeping the irritation from my voice because even though it was annoying I don’t want to sound rude or short. I’d be the ones handling them when they came in anyway and maybe they just didn’t want to hold up the drive thru if someone else came through, idk.

They both get mad/offended I didn’t say anything else. Older woman barista hops on and says something like “okay you can come inside” then turns to me and says “why aren’t you talking?!” Mind you, she’s short with customers plenty and says awful and random things about them after they drive off if they so much as stumble over their words when trying to order the right drink. She does not care about how people treat customers, I honestly say “it didn’t need a response.” Now on a different day, I’m sure I would’ve said “okay” or probably try to see if we could work it out in the drive thru first. I was already stressed and irritated because of them and a difficult customer on top of it was not a good combo. She says “yes it did and you know it”. At this point I’m actually surprised she seems to care so much and thinks it’s that important considering how she acts and how I genuinely don’t think it’s the kind of thing where no response makes a difference.

I just say that I disagree, she keeps going with the conversation and then the guy barista jumps in saying I chose a weird hill to die on as if I’m the one who keeps initiating a back and forth despite my to the point responses. So I say as much that I don’t see how it’s a “hill to die on” when they keep bringing it back up and I’m simply saying I don’t think the same as them. They keep going so I say that I don’t think they actually care that I didn’t respond, they just wanted to argue for some reason. He says “I don’t care but it’s our job”, pretty much proving my point. I’m being genuine trying to communicate and she starts saying whatever I’m not going to keep arguing (she’s done this before when I fight back against how she talked to me and another coworker once), and I don’t even remember what all happened there. I just remember I got even more irritated and the shift eventually came and broke the argument up. These are things that have been happening since I’ve worked here and it’s frustrating that the second I finally say something everything has to fall apart just because they don’t like that I disagree with them. I just needed to rant and vent and get this out after this job and my coworkers have made me want to pull my hair out the entire time I’ve worked here

Is this a wart? (Marked for grotesque pics) Please help

(Censored the photos for the gross imagery for anyone here who may not be used to it)

I discovered what looks like a wart on my 3 year old nephew’s finger on June 11th. The 26th is how it looked in the middle photos where the skin is torn and dirty, and yesterday on the 29th after some over-the-counter ointment and a bandaid was applied, this is what it looks like right after a bath in the pics at the very end. I’m not sure his parents are treating it properly or have actually taken him to a doctor. My mom told me they got some kind of OTC one-time use remedy and wrapped it in a bandaid that apparently was a regular one instead of one for kids. It hasn’t seemed like it hurts him but he’s also not really verbalizing words too well yet.

Is there cause for concern? Does it just need to run its course or should we try and treat it?

Who do you first think of when it comes to the song Rockin’ Robin? (And which would you overall recommend to a newbie)

This was a whole thing in another sub and since seems like a good place to actually get some a fair mix of all kinds of people, I want to see who people first think of in regards to singing Rockin' Robin. Feel free to comment age or other factors that might affect answers because I'm guessing that's the biggest disparity between each side. Does your version on which is better differ? Which version would you recommend to someone else who hasn’t heard it?

When you realize what Andy’s a cappella ringtone was…

I saw the Michael biopic a couple times recently and I guess I never had any idea it was Michael Jackson that sang Rockin’ Robin ‘cause I was like “that’s what Andy’s ringtone was all this time?!” 😂

Just something I think is funny because I can’t hear it without thinking of Andy singing it lol

Where is the scene with Cam and Mitchell freaking out because they left her in the car?

Just recently finished watching the show for the first time. The only episode I haven’t got to watch was Career Day because I couldn’t find a version without the Director’s Cut. Is it in that episode? Of all the videos I’ve seen of the show over the years this is the only one I don’t think I’ve seen in my binge

I’m also confused on the timeline because at that point I thought Lily was old enough to get herself out of the car but maybe it’s an earlier season than I remember. I was excited for that one 😂 😭

Edit: found the problem. The special free 🏴‍☠️ sites I use because I’m broke skip over the episode and just repeat the previous one twice 😭 haven’t been able to find it anywhere else yet either

Anyone know what’s happening right now on Oliver Lewis Way?

There’s been live screamo music playing outside my window for the last 20 minutes and it sounds awful. I didn’t mind the loud music until the screeching vocals started and woke me up. I’m next to Imagine Nation where it seems to be coming from but all I see is the back of the building from my angle and Google is telling me nothing. I’m wondering if there’s some outdoor stage on the other side I just can’t see. Sounds WAY closer than Red Mile, and it’s not the first time I’ve heard music coming from there this summer (this is the first summer I’ve lived here)

Just realized this about Fez…

We’ll never get to see his reaction to Rue dying 😭

Like we can easily imagine what it was like for Leslie and Gia, and we saw her friends’ reactions two months after it happened, but Fez hearing about it from prison and not being able to go to the funeral and just having to sit with it… Especially when that’s the two main people he cared about most and Ash is already gone. I wonder if Lexi at least called him back after that happened. In fact, maybe she was the one to call and tell him 😢

Unpopular opinion about Keanu’s VAing…

Don’t think this is shade y’all. I think he did a great job and has a great voice for Shadow’s character, but there are times in the movie that his delivery is just off to me.

Shadow sees Maria laying dead after the huge explosion and when he runs over he yells her name in all lowercase and borderline casual sounding 😂 A lot of his lines feel like they’re being delivered really slow to me too… And for lines like “why won’t you just leave me alone?” and “walk away before you get hurt” and ”revenge Guac” etc I think it really works, but most of the rest of the time it’s like it throws off the rhythm of the scene a bit.

In the scenes with Maria under the stars and Sonic on the moon it sounds more natural and it’s probably because they’re the only times Shadow speaks more normally and it’s different when he’s more dejected and soft spoken. But it seems when shadow’s angry his speech is always slow and dragged out. I’ve watched multiple reaction videos to the movie lately too and always have the speed sped up for YouTube videos, and realized that he sounded more normal and natural because while sped up he was talking at a normal pace.

These things just made me wonder if this was his first voice acting role. I’ve never seen any of his other works in general but know he’s done Speed and Matrix and that he’s clearly talented and was chosen for a reason, but this movie’s the first and only time I’ve heard Keanu’s voice

Yes it’s a bit nit picky, I know, and again, Shadow is the role for him and I still wouldn’t want it to be someone else, but it’s taken me a lot of watches to get used to how Shadow speaks ngl. I could stay quiet no longer and had to see if anyone else felt the same way lol

Gina’s aphobia

“I’m sorry if we implied you’re asexual nerds”

This show surprisingly missed the mark with this comment for being so progressive. It really doesn’t help that they had the insensitive bully character say it. Being an asshole is very in character for her but something like ace or queerphobia is something she’s never shown otherwise. If anything, she would be more progressive/woke about this stuff to be performative if nothing else

As someone aroace, I’d rather have the show not acknowledge asexuality at all lost most other shows than that be all they said about it

Jules when I find you…

I’ve just about almost always hated her with each season but this was just crazy… She hasn’t matured since high school at all but every time Rue comes around she verbally uses her as a punching bag saying Rue hasn’t changed and isn’t ready for kids when Rue was just thinking out loud and is STILL trying to strong arm Rue into topping her and calling the American Dream of all things a fantasy…

I guess when I think about it it’s not surprising she went from talking to Rue the way she’s been to doing this

I’m planning to try doing box braids myself for the very first time this weekend. Never done them before and found some YouTube videos that seem very doable and the comments say beginners were very successful at it. The only thing I still need to get is braiding gel. I’m short on cash and have some new Shea Moisture define and shine styling gel I bought a while ago when I meant to get edge control. I was going to return and swap it for the edge control, but since I’m about to try braids, is it possible I can just use the styling gel instead? I’m worried that if the gel isn’t thick enough it will make braiding more difficult.

I’ve read some posts on here about it saying the gel actually isn’t necessary, but since I’m trying it for my first time during a rare day off, I don’t know if I should risk going without it and being stuck with a bad result I can’t fix for a while. My sister who’s always done my hair used gel every time, it’s never bothered my scalp or been flaky, but it does leave behind a ton of clumping and residue when I take the braids out that are super hard to wash out and THAT I probably won’t be able to do myself. She’s also always been the one to wash and do my hair again after I take my braids out. How risky would it be to go without braiding gel/any gel on my first try? Does doing no gel actually look just as neat or last as long? Any advice would be great 🫶🏽
