What to do with general public during stage 1 fire alarm?

Hi all. I’m the emergency warden in my office with around 290 people. We have a 2 stage fire alarm. We have many public that come in for tours and all and often use second and third floors. During a stage 1 fire alarm (alert alarm) should we still evacuate them or get them to stand by like all other occupants ?

From my understanding the best way to deal with this would be everybody wait and standby on stage one and wait for further instructions until we investigate if it’s a real fire or not and then if we hear the stage two chime then we evacuate immediately but we’re just wondering what’s the best way to deal with public during this situation?

Stage 1/2 fire alarms should everyone get out at stage 1?

Our work building has a 2 stage fire alarm. Stage 1 is a slower beep chime that is a stand by and warning alert. The second chime is faster and means evacuate immediately. Isn’t it just better and easier if everyone gets out at stage 1 instead? Because it can get confusing if you have to go investigate first and see if it will go to stage 2.

These systems are designed to avoid false alarms and unnecessary evacuations.

What are your thoughts?

Is this treatable? 31 Male

Hi. I’m 31 male 5”6 and 205 lbs. since childhood I always shake my legs during and before sleep. It’s not involuntary. It’s more of sensations in my leg that make me shake them to make me feel calm.

Second issue is I get bad stomach anxiety. When I feel not included in groups or I feel someone puts me down in front of a group I get stomach anxiety pains

What’s the point of buying Lexus?

I owned a Toyota RAV4 for over seven years and it’s really nice and I tried to look at Lexus and I went for some test drives, but it doesn’t give me that much of a luxury feel so I’m just wondering why people get it other than the reliability, it’s not like crazy luxury

Maximum occupancy?

I work an emergency management, and I have been asked to determine what are the maximum occupancy for certain rooms of our building for event planning and for emergency purposes because if we go over the capacity, we will need to ensure that a fire plan is developed to mitigate the risk and to have additional resources in place to help with egress

We have received occupant loads for all of our areas. However, these numbers are extremely extremely high, and these do not constitute our maximum occupancy nor our minimum so we’re very stuck and how do we determine the maximum occupancy

How to determine maximum occupancy?

I work in emergency management and I’ve been tasked with determining what are the maximum occupancies for our large areas of our building for events so this way, if we exceed maximum occupancy, we would have to develop a further plan to mitigate the risk of a fire or insure additional resources. Are there to help with egress.

We have received occupant loads from the engineer however, every time I try to talk to him, he keeps telling me that these occupant load values are building code numbers for people standing and this is not a maximum or minimum occupancy so I’m stuck as of how to determine these numbers?

Wife’s brother invited me very late 28M 27F

From Australia. Married for 2.5 years. Marriage was rough at start and both families don’t vibe much. Things are bit better now. Wife’s brother did a small gathering last minute and invited me about 3-5 hours before. I was at a work event and didn’t see my wife’s messages that they invited same day. I don’t really get along with them. But when I called wife back she was already there at their home. I was suprised. I didn’t want to initially go but I felt kind of upset why she went without me (she tried calling me and asking me to go) but my phone was off. Her brother also called me and told me to come but I told him it was too last minute (they live 1.5 hour away).

Am I rightfully upset or just leave it as it’s small?

Should I go to their wedding?

I had my wedding 2 years ago. My family and my cousins family from dad’s side have huge beef for over 30 years. I wanted them to come to my wedding even they I hate them just so my grandma can come (she lives with them). Things went well - no drama just fun. Only the parents came. My cousins who are my age didn’t have the guts to even congratulate me or even say hi or reply to my message in the invitation. Now it’s their son’s wedding and they are going to invite us. I don’t like the fact that their kids didn’t even congratulate me or talk to me or acknowledge me when I invited them. Should I go to theirs? Should my parents go?

Fire procedures. Close doors behind you. But what about floor wardens?

I work in emergency management and I’ve been noticing that a lot of emergency procedures say that during an evacuation or fire close all the doors during your path of egress, but we also have floor fire wardens that check all the areas of each floor. Are the floor wardens expected to each open each door and check if people are remaining during evacuation.??

Because if we’re telling occupants to close the doors, then why are we asking for wardens to open the doors again?

Therefore, my question is, is it better to have all occupants check their own rooms first before exiting and close the door behind them or ask for fire wardens to go in their zones and open all the doors to check if people are not evacuated?

Any advice ?

I feel insecure and less than them. I don’t know if they are jealous.

I feel my colleagues don’t like that I got promoted

I’ve been working in my current place for five years and I love my work so much and the people, but I recently received a promotion to manager, and it seems as though my colleagues are very jealous or upset that I got this position and they keep making these remarks and are acting different now all of a sudden I’m also starting to lose confidence because of this because I’m very sensitive to other people‘s opinions about me

I have a very good relationship with my boss, but it seems as though the colleagues who were close to me once are acting quite different now that I’ve received a promotion. I’m not sure what to do. I’m continuing to act civil as possible, and be nice, but it seems like they go behind my back and talk about me.

RAV4 or Audi Q5 s line?

I own a paid off 2019 silver XLE rav4 with 119,000km on it. I want to upgrade to something more luxury but also want the reliability. I loved my RAV so much - it was a beast and still is. I don’t like the new 2026 look of the new RAV4. I went to an Audi dealership last week and fell in love with the Q5 S line. They had a 2025 with 8k km on it and giving middle package for base price model. Although I could still drive my RAV4 for another couple years without any issues, I’m wondering if I should upgrade to the Audi or just stick with the RAV4 for a while……

Audi Q 5 is $66,000

Socks odour and general body odour

31 Male. Fairly active in sports and gym. Eat somewhat healthy but eat a lot of carbs I am 5’6 and 207lbs a bit overweight. I shower every 1-2 days if not daily. I wash my clothes regularly and wear same socks and underwear for 1-2 days. My socks always smell after a long day even though they are fresh (vinegar small). I was told to shower with tea tree oil body wash which I do. It smells great in shower but continues to smell afterward. Mind you my smell is not over it and where other people can smell it where it’s super strong, but my socks tend to smell mostly should I be using baby powder on my feet before putting my socks on? I also wash my shoes once every 3 months in hot water and shampoo. I do sweat a lot from my feet. I use deodorant men’s dove antiperspirant.

Is there anything else I can do?

2019 RAV4….Dilemma

I own a 2019 Silver XLE I paid cash for and currently have 112,000 kilometers (Canada). It’s in excellent shape. I do oil changes once a year synthetic oil and keep the car clean. I was so excited for the 2026 model but once I test drove it, I really didn’t like it. The shape isn’t amazing it’s just whatever. I’m thinking if I should keep my current one or upgrade. I’m worried the longer I wait the more the value of the car will decrease. Right now it’s worth $22,000 and apparently goes down even more after 120km. I love my current RAV4 it’s a beast but thought I’d get some opinions.
