Is it possible to through hike the PCT 3-5 days at time every week until finishing it?

I'm sure this is a dumb question but I work for a major airline. I get maybe 2 wks in total of PTO per year. I do work 4 days on 3 days off. Is it possible to just go through the PCT on those 3 days and a few times take an extra 2 days here and there?

Would this make sense or is it better to take LOA at some point? Would love to see the entire PCT.

Should I get a small or medium sized Arc'teryx Bets SL for winter hikes?

Small fits me well. Medium will be a bit bigger (duh). I'm 5'6 148 lbs. I plan on using it for hiking in the Appalachian mountains, Mt. Renier, etc where I know I'd end up layering up with a fleece and marino base layer and if it's too cold a puffer jacket like the Patagonia nano. It's on sale for 350 marked down from 500 so I don't want to buy this and regret it later.

"That's on you." comment while training freaks me out (Lol)

I just have to say that I've been an aircraft mechanic for 1 yr. I just transferred to the line and that comment at this point during training freaks me out.

Every time my trainer and I go through an engine after opening a thrust reverser or go through the wheel well and asks me to inspect. I look around, I check for leaks and FOD. He then asks me to sign for it. He then asks, "you checked it? Good. This is on you. If the plane goes down that's on you!"

I know I'm responsible and I'm signing this but that comment freaks me out. I ask him if he can double check. He does a quick glance and then goes, "okay. Sign off the job" lol my butthole puckers up and I'm thinking, did I miss anything? Is this going to crash?

I asked other mechanics and they've said,"you're fine. I've missed things and the planes flew without problems."

Should I allow Alltrails to write anything into my pixel watch 4?

I'm new to reading/writing data. Should I allow it to write these things or would the pixel watch 4 be able to record this on its own? Not sure entirely how it works. Don't know how it would write my calories burned information. Thanks in advance!

I want all the distance and elevation gain and distance to write into the app. Not sure if this is all just moot and the watch would do it regardless and it's just copying anything.

Four mile trail: first time at Yosemite

This was the hardest trail I've done. It was also beautiful. I really didn't expect Yosemite to be so beautiful. The videos and the pictures is so different from being there. When you get there and see the intense size of those mountains and the way they're formed it's so different. Moving time was 5:15 min but I think it took me longer like maybe 6 since I went to see Union point and was just enjoying that area. I stayed there for a while and then got some water at the store on top, too. I wanna do the longer one (panorama, John Muir).

Has anyone used Thrifty car rental?

The one in SD has terrible reviews. What can I do to make sure any claims or any issues can't be included. One time I used Avis and they claimed I left it with an empty tank. I sent my credit card statement showing the time I gassed it full tank for them to remove the fraudulent scam charge. Ever since then I keep all receipts.

What water bottles do you use for your farpoint 40L bag?

I just got the Danner farpoint edition. The water bottle compartments are not very spacious. I thought I read it can handle 1L water bottles and when I bought a 32 oz hydroflask bottle they won't fit. I got the 24oz and it fits. My issue is do you guys just use 24 oz water bottles in those 2 small compartments? What water bottles do you use? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone else here absolutely hated this stupid app, too?

I asked the stupid AI about my hike yesterday. It said it had not recorded anything from Alltrails. It did say I can record it manually. I'm not doing it manually since I turned on to "write" the Alltrails data into it. I asked if Alltrails had ever recorded data and then the stupid AI said it did record 3 hikes from alltrails yesterday. I swear to Ktulu I hate Gemini and that stupid health app. Has anyone had better experiences?

Does it make sense to travel to England from the US for a 3 day weekend if I can do it for free?

I work at a major airline as an aircraft mechanic. I work during the weekdays and was curious if it was feasible to go see the Hitchcock mural at Leytonstone and then the Hendrix museum and then return Sunday to be back at work on Monday? Thanks in advance.

AITAH I have a home in WA and make a very good income currently living in San Francisco in my car.

I used to live at an Airbnb and I made friends with one guy. He told me how he lost his driver's license for a "few" DUIs. He crashed his scooter because he was drunk one night and then went to the hospital. He barely makes money to live.

One day the Airbnb host told us we couldn't extend our stay but we can return once the new renters finish their stay. I couldn't find anything in SF for less than 2500 so I decided to just sleep in my car. The guy was sleeping in motels telling me there were rats there, roaches etc. so he became stunned that I was living in my car. I told him I wasn't going to pay 2500-3k for rent. One coworker found out and offered a room in his apartment for 800. I decided to take it.

At some point while we were texting he kept focused that I was sleeping in my car while I had a paid off home in WA. I told him I inherited from my parents. They bought when Seattle was not the same place. Eventually, I woke up to a text telling me I think I'm better than him and it's people like me the country needs to fight because I take advantage of people like him. He went off on me. I wanted to respond but I figured the guy has mental issues. I won't divulge in his other issues.

Am I a jerk because I chose to live in my car in San Francisco even though I have a home in WA? I'm only in San Francisco because of my contract job. I just don't want to spend so much on housing.

Am I missing something with the IHG premier Credit Card? It looks really good.

You get the 50.00 credit for travel bank. 40k points annually towards as a free night. Instakart 10.00 credit per month. I work at United Airlines & travel pretty often on hiking trails around the country. When I stay at hotels it's mainly when I have a credit so just go to IHG and you get your free night pretty easily. Am I missing something?

Somebody got walked out during probation after maybe 2 months

I thought I'd give some people information in what gets you terminated during probation.

We had a guy who came in late almost everyday for those 2 mths he worked. One time even said the card reader didn't wojbut security cameras showed him he can in 30 min late.

He was told not to day trade so he did it anyway. When he was taught jobs he'd pretend he knew the job & then be lost. Very difficult. He borrowed 200.00 from a coworker and never returned it making excuses. He would sleep on the job and was told several times not to sleep while working. They finally caught him sleeping maybe a 4th or 5th time so they walked him.

Anyone who is wondering what gets you terminated during probation there you go.

Do you deal with Hi-Lok fastners on the line?

I'm curious if that's something I should expect and if I should buy a cheap Hi-Lok ratchet. Thanks everyone!

Do you get many screws that gets difficult to remove on the line?

I'm curious. Where I work we sometimes have screws that I have trouble with where I strip them unless I use a rivet gun.

Is this used 208EPIT worth 180?

Found this for 180. Not sure if I should get it. I'm an aircraft mechanic and when I used it it's simply amazing to get stubborn screws off.

I got Global Entry with 3 misdemeanors!

After reading how people's experiences have been I decided a while back I probably shouldn't get it. I had 3 convictions that were a municipal ordinance & 2 misdemeanors. One of the misdemeanors was disorderly conduct. They occured in 2001, 2002, & 2005. I had these records expunged. I included them in my application.

I received a conditional approval maybe 2 weeks later. At the interview she asked me for my full name, birth date, & my address. She asked me what the results were to my convictions. I told her 2 had fines & one had fines & community service. I told her I brought my expungement paperwork with all the information if she needed it. She said she didn't need it. As I left she said said I would get a response by the end of the interview. I got an approval!

I didn't want to do it originally but I work as an aircraft mechanic. When I was approved for my SIDA badge I felt like I should be approved for this.

Just thought I'd give a data point for people in the future who think they can't get Global Entry due to old records. It is possible.

Timeline:

6/25/2026 Applied

7/20/2026 Received conditional approval

7/25/2026 Approved

I don't really have anyone to tell this to. I do a lot of overtime at my job with American Airlines. I don't want to tell my friends because I know they would get jealous. I'm just excited. I plan to hit the 72k max.
