I have a Duro that has passed. The minute hand has stopped and won't restart. I have had several in the past that did the same thing. One i returned to casio for replacement... one i threw out... and two others simply started working again on their own. This time I'm going to attempt a resurrection.

To complicate things this Duro has a 50cSt hydromod... this is what I'm going to try:

1. Remove the movement with dial and hands attached

2. Carefully remove as much silicone oil as possible

3. Carefully clean the dial and hands with soapy water. Yes. Water.

4. Immediately blow it out

5. Clean with a Quartz or electronics cleaner while avoiding direct dial face contact of possible.

6. Blow out

Repeat steps 5 and 6 from various angles.... let the dry in various positions to help ensure no water or cleaner remains.

Test with fresh battery... if it works.. let it run 24 hours then back in the case she goes for a rehydromod using 22 or 20cst.

This is ultimately an experiment for the hell of it. The movement cost nine bucks and worst case I replace it, the hands, and the dial...

Think I'm nuts? Probably right.. Save this post if you're curious how it turns out a few days from now! I'll take some pics along the way...

I think the new beveled crystal makes this guy my new favorite Duro... but don't tell the other 14... also going to add a 2.5x Cyclops this weekend.. Duromariner on deck!

Hello r/DuroGang! Please allow me to introduce myself.... I am u/TheRealBrewder, newest moderator for the community. First and foremost, thank you to u/PlayerOne2016 for the opportunity to help promote the Duro!

A bit about me. I am an IT guy by trade, with a passion for technology and watches. My first "adult" watch was from Bulova and today my collection includes many different brands with my latest obsession on Casio. I started down the DRH (Duro Rabbit Hole!) in early 2025 and simply couldn't stop buying, and modifying them. I buy them new, I buy them used, I just can't stop buying them! (just ask my wife!)

My obsession is simple modifications. Most mods consist of replacing the mineral crystal with Sapphire, the strap with something more "premium" such as FKM Rubber, Silicone, or Stainless Steel. Those two things alone transform the watch. And lets not forget, most of my Duro mods include a Hydromod (refer to the guide in my profile if you have any interest in that level of madness!).

As I mentioned, I'm a bit obsessed with the Duros but gradually adding in the M5610u, AE1200WH, and the A168 for some variety. All great, and iconic, Casio pieces. I've also started building my own watches to expand my skills and knowledge in the hobby.

My #1 goal as a Moderator/Promoter is to see our community grow. I would love to see over 20k users by the end of 2026. If I'm not mistaken, when I joined back in early 2025 there were 11k users and today it's just over 18k!. Most people start their Casio obsession with a F-91W, A168w, AE1200WH, and to me, the Duro is the "next step". Just like most Casio's, the Duro is rugged, moddable, and relatively inexpensive. (yes I understand not for everyone).

I encourage those who love the watch, and have the resources, to buy one for a friend, nephew, little-brother, or even 9 for your future son-in-laws Groomsmen! ;)

Supposed to be FKM Rubber but honestly feel like silicone to me....

... on a lite Frank from the farm. I have a couple of Osysters that need some light polish so thought i would give the Horus strap a try.... not yet sure i like the quality...
