Those that left a toxic company without a backup job?
How do you explain why you left during the interview?
How do you explain why you left during the interview?
I resigned without 2 weeks notice. So likely unrehireable. I want to be honest about what I was put through while working under that department. And with dates and exact wording. But will anything actually be done or am I wasting my time and making it worse for myself? I already know there were a few other complaints made about my department and certain leadership to hr but nothing has ever been done.
I was his only direct report when we worked together. His resignation really shocked me. We were close everyone knew. Maybe I thought we were close where he could have told me he was even looking. After he left the company he continued helping me outside of work. I would text him for help and he would call me and mentor me, send me jobs and give me advice. We would also talk about things outside of work. I thought we were becoming friends. Which I really wanted. He added me on social media as well.
Fast forward 4 months after he resigned I brought up something that was still bothering me and asked why he didnt tell me he was interviewing. He asked if it has been bothering me? And i said yeah I wanted to ask earlier but he seemed so excited about leaving so I put my feeling aside and was happy for him. The conversation was uncomfortable and I think I messed up here. After this call I kind of took a step back myself from reaching out to him. A few months later I reached out after not speaking and asked how he was and said hes been quiet. He said he was busy and told me some things going on in his life. Then asked if I had a good time on my trip getting away from work.
Well since then Ive resigned from this toxic job. He knows because I called him and asked for advice and vented a bit. He voluntarily told me he was about to fire someone under him. But he didnt follow up with there will be an opening I'll let you know. Even though he knew I was about to resign from this job. This makes me wonder why because he previously said if there was an opening he was going to ask me. Well he made a public post about the job opening so he isnt hiding it from me. Should I bother applying? Our relationship is confusing and I think it may complicate things again. I loved working with him and he knew it. We worked well together but things are different now. Im worried our personal relationship would affect a work relationship. Advice please?
Tldr: I have a complicated relationship with a former manager who has a job now should I apply?
Are you applying to jobs titles you dont currently have?
Or are you applying to any jobs? Wondering if those that are having hard time getting interviews are applying to job titles they dont already have.
Im about to resign from the most toxic workplace next week with no backup. Ive held out for an extra 6 months but cant do this anymore. I need reassurance I am doing the right thing and will be ok. Please tell me your stories if youve done the same and how it worked out for you. Thank you!
Can someone please clarify, if I resigned from a job and was unable to give the full 2 weeks notice and am marked not rehireable if during future job searches they would ask or if my company would disclose? Im hearing mixed answers that companies cannot disclose legally. Instead of giving my company's corporate number is there always an option to just submit a copy of a w2 and give references instead during future background checks? Thank you.
I see people saying it helps but what exactly did it do for you that helped? Thanks.
Those that take lexapro, do you still get anxious or are all symptoms completely gone? How many mg do you all take? How long did it start for you to notice a change? Im nervous about starting meds. Thanks!
I work for a company in PA remotely from NY if it matters. Im planning to resign on my return to work date after my fmla ends. My fmla was fully approved for 1 month but my std was only partially approved and I requested an extension which seems to be taking longer than usual. My doctor has until mid August to submit the paperwork. But I plan to resign end of July. What happens in that case if the std claim is still pending or open? Does my companys third party administrator get notified if I resign? Does it affect my std claim in any way? Would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I work remote for a company in PA. I have been approved fmla for 1 month which ends at the end of this month. I am out for mental health reasons related to work. Hr reached out to inquire when I plan to return or if Im going to get an extension. I originally responded and said I planned to return on my return date. But due to work being so toxic, I dont feel even on meds I want to put myself back in that situation.
Do I tell them on my expected return date? I do not want to voluntarily resign. I also have a pre planned trip in August I will likely not get approved for so I am unable to give the full 2 weeks notice. I also have some unused PTO left which I assume I forfeit either way? What happens now?
Also my fmla was fully approved but my std was only partially approved, still pending an extension waiting for docs from my psychiatrist. What happens if I resign or get fired and my std claim is still open with the third party administrator? Would me getting fired or resigning affect the std in any way? Thank you.
What has your experience been? Do you find its harder finding a job without being currently employed or same? Are you getting less interviews or lower offers?

My fmla paperwork was signed by my pcp for 4 weeks leave however my company's 3rd party administrator only approved 2 weeks and are requesting additional info from my mental health specialist since this is for mental health. In the event its still not approved, I wont be able to return to work. What are my options? What happens then? Who do I notify? HR leave specialists or my manager directly? Anything else I should know? Thanks.
Edit to add I live in NY but work remotely for a company in PA.
By Austin st. What was that?
Maybe its just me but I find it absolutely dreadful to speak to and work with coworkers much older than me. I need to repeat myself or explain things that much more. I just want to work at a young company with like minded people around the same age. I find my company so old school and behind. A simple email turned into 10 sentences by my boomer manager because she thinks it was much more clear. Anyone else have this issue? Im exhausted by the end of a meeting with them.
