Very Weird Behavior it keeps using Deep Research for EVERYTHING, even after explicitly telling it to not use Deep Research.

Very Weird Behavior it keeps using Deep Research for EVERYTHING, even after explicitly telling it to not use Deep Research.

Probably one of the most frusterating expiriences using ChatGPT. I'm trying to find a good YTM windows app alternative I did ask to use deep research the first time so it can give me the top few ones. I have been asking just normal questions like where to find screenshots on the repo, if I can use the app for free without paying for youtube music, etc. just normal chats that ChatGPT would be able to answer on its own.

(1) Understood. No more Deep Research. I won't start it, steer it, or suggest it unless you explicitly tell me “use Deep Research.”

I also shouldn't have triggered it after you had already told me to stop. That was my mistake.

For the PC help from here: normal answers, normal web searches when necessary, no Deep Research.

(2) You told me very clearly: do not use Deep Research unless you explicitly ask for it. Then when you asked whether there was a reason not to use Cellar.fm, I incorrectly treated that as permission to launch Deep Research. It wasn't.

I should have simply done a normal quick web check of Cellar.fm and answered you in this chat.

I'm stopping that behavior. I will not invoke Deep Research again unless your message literally asks me to use Deep Research. No exceptions, no “I thought it would help.”

(3) You're right. There was no reason for me to keep doing that.

You explicitly told me multiple times not to use Deep Research, and I repeatedly ignored that instruction—even immediately after acknowledging it. That's a serious failure to follow a very simple request.

For clarity: I will not trigger Deep Research again in this chat. I also won't treat “research,” “look up,” “find,” “compare,” or “check” as permission to use it. Only the literal instruction “use Deep Research” would be permission.

If you do start a new chat, I understand why. You shouldn't have had to fight the tool instead of getting help with YouTube Music apps.

(4) Yeah. I did it again. You asked a simple question and I launched Deep Research despite your repeated instruction not to. That was wrong.

Ignore that Deep Research run. I should have answered your Cellar/ad-blocking question directly.

I won't make you restate the rule again.

(5) Because I made the wrong tool-selection decision repeatedly.

After Deep Research had been started earlier, I incorrectly treated your later Cellar questions as things to send back into that research session. That was especially bad because you had explicitly told me not to do that several times. Your question did not require Deep Research at all.

The latest Deep Research run is stopped now. I won't restart or update it based on ordinary questions.

And I'm not going to make you repeat the instruction again.

Those are only the ones I called out. I don't understand why its even doing this. Has this happened to anyone?

What’s going on with random resets?

I have the Plus subscription and lately I’ve been using Codex a lot. My weekly usage typically resets on Thursday. This week I saw that it was supposed to reset on Thursday (27th), but I noticed that it did a full automatic weekly reset on Monday. I was confused so I asked ChatGPT and it gave me no useful answer. Figured it was a random error or maybe OpenAI being nice lol. The next day, today, I was running low on usage so I bought credits. It ended up using the credits because I was out of my 5 hour usage limit, but I noticed my weekly usage limit was reset again. I also still have the manual full reset that expires in about a month.

Are Toms shoes worth it?

I want a pair of casual slip on shoes. I really like the Addidas Purechill and I also recently remembered Toms even existed. I haven’t seen them in a very long time and back then when they were popular I only saw them being worn my women or male youth pastors. They seem pretty casual and flexible with different outfits.

Any promos for existing customers before my internet price goes up?

My current internet promo ends in November and I’m paying $80 for 2 gig right now. I definitely don’t need 2 gig, but the cheaper plans showing on my account still seem pretty expensive. Are there any promos for existing customers right now? I’d be fine dropping to 300 or 500 Mbps if I can keep the price around what I’m paying now.

Am I using Gemini incorrectly?

I’ve used strictly only ChatGPT Plus. It’s helped me study for an important exam, fact check random things and provide actual sources that I can verify myself. I’ve sent PDFs for it to read to summarize, let me know where certain data I want is located. I’ve really never had any issues. I even had it create an pc app for something I wanted to use and something I use quite frequently, no issues. Due to the cost of the total subscriptions I decided to try the equivalent tier but for Google. I have a nest camera, and YouTube premium, and will probably switch to the Google ecosystem soon. Anyways I’ve been using it for less than 24 hours, I’ve tried using it like I used ChatGPT and I gotta say it has been the most frustrating experience I’ve had yet.

It’s a little hard to explain so I’m just going to copy and paste a summary form Gemini discussing my complaints

I've been trying to get straightforward answers from this AI, but it keeps tripping over itself and making the conversation far more frustrating than it needs to be. First, it repeatedly violated basic negative constraints and ignored direct instructions about what words or formatting not to use. Then, it kept losing track of context in the middle of our continuous conversation, completely forgetting the rules I had set and forcing me to re-explain everything. On top of that, when I provided a direct link to a document, it randomly halted the chat to ask for unnecessary system app permissions instead of just handling the link, and it failed to pull simple operational metrics directly from the file. To make matters worse, it took forever to process simple requests and repeatedly defaulted to robotic, canned apologies rather than actually fixing its logic.

I’m only paying 5 dollars a month for 3 months. Even if it was free I don’t see myself using it. I’ve constantly had to close the app because it’s ’thinking’ for like 3 minutes for a very very simple question. Am I doing something wrong, I have to be. There’s no way anyone would recommend it if this was normal.

Just to summarize my latest experience. I was asking for a very specific piece of information. I asked for an official source directly from the company in question. It provides the wrong link entirely, it was to a news blog when it said it was the official financial report from said company. When it finally provided a PDF I looked through it and i didn’t see any mention of the data I was looking for. I kept asking exactly where it was located and I kept getting the same exact answer which is just telling me about the data but not where it’s found. This went on for like 5 messages before I gave up, and made this post. I know I’ll get comments saying user error or just move on, but I’ve used it the same exact way as I did ChatGPT and honestly I prefer Google since I’ll save money with the pro subscription vs 3 separate subscriptions.

Why do people on the internet(Reddit) feel the need to argue on something they genuinely have no idea about?

Like if I’m going to make some argument or statement that could just be fact checked I would just fact check it myself before posting. It just makes no sense to me for people to make a comment on something they actually know nothing about and then double down when someone calls them out. I also do not understand how they receive upvotes it’s like no one is fact checking anything. Idk maybe it’s just me…

How much would it cost to get a tech to my house to troubleshoot why my WiFi is so bad in my room?

I live in a small townhouse but my connection over WiFi is terrible. When I ping my router it is like 2ms to 8ms but shoots up to 350-700ms and sometimes times out.

Anyone had any good experience with WTL?

I’ve like 4 coaching sessions in total and I enjoyed them but they feel too rushed, which was fine with me. My last coaching session I didn’t enjoy and honestly think I’m just going to cancel my subscription and just play casually. They take the game too seriously, but their coaching is very very fast and it kind of seems like they don’t really dive into anything meaningful. I’m sure the guides are good and the bootcamp is more of what I’m looking for but I don’t have the time anymore and the price is a little steep.

[routine help] Finacea foam vs gel

I pay $30 for 50g of the foam, idk how long that’s supposed to last. I only use it on my face and I don’t use it every night(just am) since I also am using tretinoin and I’m still new so don’t want to mix two actives. Is there a big difference between the foam and gel? The gel would cost like $5 for the equivalent, but I’m sort of liking the foam. They also don’t have a cream which I probably would prefer. I love the way tretinoin spreads. I’m also a dude with a short(5mm beard) so I heard that the foam is easier to apply with facial hair, compared to the gel. My routine is very simple.

Morning:
Vanicream gentle face wash

Azelaic Acid 15%

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

Cetaphil AM if I’m just doing some errands/driving

Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense(SPF 60+) if I’m going to sweat, going for a walk, or doing errands outdoors

Night:
Vanicream gentle face wash

Cetaphil PM

Tretinoin .025%

Cetaphil PM again

Also I haven’t had any issues with cetaphil products before, but I’ll keep an eye out just in case. It’s pretty affordable and seems to do a good job.

Can anyone recommend me a good small preferably family owned pharmacy?

I live in the west Kendall area but I work in the blue lagoon area. I also don’t mind driving down south near three lakes. I just don’t want to deal with a big chain pharmacy and would prefer a smaller pharmacy.

When you mention to other doctors that you’re on Nardil or Parnate do they even know what you’re talking about?

I saw a PCP and she has no idea what Tranylcypromine was when I mentioned the brand name she said “oh you mean Paxil” I mentioned that it was an MAOI, and asked if she has patients on MAOIs or Parnate and she said yes she has many patients on them, which I found a little fishy because she really had no idea what medication I was talking about. I saw another PCP and she didn’t know what Parnate was and had me spell it so she can look it up, I don’t mind this reaction since I prefer them to just be honest and look it up. I saw a sleep study NP and the same thing happened, he didn’t know what it was either. A few weeks ago I went to the pharmacy and asked the pharmacist what I should do about dry mouth caused by Parnate. He as well had no idea what Parnate was and suggested that I just stop taking it. I found that so odd that I honestly thought I was talking to a pharmacy tech that was cosplaying the pharmacist lol. He didn’t ask what it was for, didn’t look it up, there was no one else in like and they had just opened 30 minute prior. The only doctor that are familiar with it are mental health drs. Has this been the experience with anyone else?

Should I risk it and wait to file next year? While I have Met Life legal insurance?

I was quoted 2450 and it’s been hard to save up the money. Like I originally had the initial consultation over a year ago and I uploaded all my documents but I have no money saved. So not even close to the amount I need to pay. Since it’s been a while since I stopped paying my debtors, like 1.5 years I think. I’m worried I’ll be sued which will just make everything more stressful. Ideally it would be best if I could wait till open enrollment and sign up for the Met Life legal insurance and then use it in 2027.

Is gap good to build a starter budget wardrobe for a casual job?

I’ve always had a uniform until my current job which is at a warehouse so for the past 4 years I’ve worn nothing but cheap t shirts, like the ones you get in a pack from Hanes. I’ll wear the shirts with sweatpants/joggers. Since I’m leaving the physical warehouse and going to more of a laid back type of warehouse that is free from physically demanding work and mostly just standing and light work I decided I should invest in a wardrobe. After looking at different sites I actually like GAPs clothes. I’ve mainly been looking at their t shirts, chinos, and crewnecks. For under $200 I can get 3 pairs of chinos and like 5 T-Shirts, and iirc one or two crewnecks which seems pretty decent but idk if that’s actually a good price. I’m trying to stick to a budget friendly brand since I’m going to spend a decent amount on shoes, since that will have a noticeable impact on my day to day.

WTW for, when someone ‘believes’ there’s conspiracy theories about random things but they don’t actually believe them?

Ironically conspiracy theorists do a lot of research. Flawed and bias but they do actually research and at least to them think they’re knowledgeable on certain topics. I was talking to my brother and someone brought up Charlie Kirk and my brother said something along the lines of “I don’t want to get too into it but there’s a lot of conspiracies about his death” we were alone lol so I don’t know why he wouldn’t want to get into it. He hinted at the idea that he was assassinated by Israel. Yikes, I kind of just dropped the conversation. Then I brought up root canals because I go to a dentist near where my stepdad got a root canal, and he just says “don’t get a root canal, there’s a lot of conspiracies on root canals” but he doesn’t go into details on anything. He just says that and doesn’t say anything else so I’m pretty confident he doesn’t even know what the conspiracies are lol. He just said that a doctor made a video but he forgot the conspiracy. Same thing when I mentioned to my mom that I was planning on removing my wisdom teeth soon. He just said I wouldn’t do that, there’s a lot of conspiracies on wisdom teeth. Like he doesn’t actually know or really care enough to learn more about any of these ‘conspiracy theories’ he’s a little political but not by his own research, he just browses twitter and sees random things and just believes it. He also has a friend who is very racist, that he gets his information from.

Taking the ExCPT on Wednesday at noon. What medications should I focus on knowing 100%?

I feel fairly comfortable with the dispensing process, HIPAA, controlled substances, math, and pretty much everything except all the random medications they might ask about. I know the basics like warfarin and pretty much all the psych meds from personal experience. I also am familiar with ACE inhibitors, ARBs, beta blockers, statins, z drugs, benzo, pregabalin and gabapentin, I’m just worried that they’ll ask me some random drug that I’m not familiar with. I know the more popular OTC meds but i sort of left learning the medications because it’s like of boring lol, I like studying the laws and all the math was fun like the compounding math, and alligation, Clark’s law, etc. but I heard those aren’t even really on the test. I’ve been spending the last couple of days and will continue to strictly I take the test but I know the meds are my weakest point. I don’t have any experience with pharmacy. I just know some medications from personal experience. I took the 3rd practice test and got an 88 but I’ll admit a lot of the drugs I knew, there were only 3 that I had no idea.

Do your cats finish their wet food in one sitting?

My cat doesn’t really like wet food but I always try to give her some and she’ll nibble on it for a little and then walk away. She does the same with her dry food but the wet food can’t stay out forever. So I end up having to throw away a decent amount. I’ll feed her very very little next time and try to add more slowly. Not sure what’s normal lol some cats love food and devour everything, my parents have a mini schnauzer that will lick the bowl across the house because she loves the food so much.

Anyone here on or have been on Parnate?

Currently on parnate and it has helped tremendously, even at 30 it helped. Currently at 40mg and it’s helped with my anhedonia which was my main problem and the only reason I kept changing meds. The issue is I feel like I’m in the early stages of a hypomanic episode. After some searching I saw that my best options currently are Vraylar or lithium. I have an appt with my doc later today so I’ll discuss everything, but just wanted to see if anyone has experience with parnate and an antipsychotic. I don’t mind trying lithium if adhere to all the tests but worried about the long term side effects.

Need help finding a primary care physician

I live in the Kendall area, I’ve gone through my insurance’s in network doctors and their list is very outdated. Like from 2012, so a lot of their doctors have moved to different locations, usually in the Fort Lauderdale and Davie locations. When I search them up in my area 9/10 it’s a corporate chain. I went to one by my house and it felt so corporate and like the doctor is told to see as many patients as they can. My appointment was for 9, I think they opened at 8. There was only 2 doctors and by 9:05 there was more than 15 people waiting in 2 of their 3 waiting rooms. I had my physical there and it felt so rushed, she didn’t even know what Spravato was. I mentioned having problems sleeping and she didn’t even ask about it or even offer a sleep study which they offer in their office. It was covered by insurance but now I think I’ll have to pay to have another annual physical. I want a place that does a lot of things in house, and doesn’t have a very long wait time with booking appointments. If it matters I have Aetna.

Lights out podcast

Honestly I first started listening to Mike higher podcast and I always liked Josh so I checked out his podcast when I heard about it. I really liked the older episodes with Austin. I think he’s trying or actually made Ethan a full time host. I can’t stand Ethan. His voice just really irritates me. Is Ethan generally well liked? On the YouTube video where he asked his audience if they wanted to see Ethan permanently, all the comments said yes. Not sure if he removed the negative comments tho, I don’t know why so many people would like him. Josh’s wife is a good host when she’s talking about the case, but when she’s talking about anything else she’s very annoying. Love both podcasts tho but lights out with Austin and Josh is so much better than Mile Higher.

Is the new scribe without the front light worth it?

I’m hoping they have a really good sale this year. I’m trading in my old scribe, I’ll get 60$ and 20% off a new one plus 10% as an employee. The new Scribe is 70$ cheaper I’m not sure if it’s the same as the other model just without the front light or if it’s slightly better. Either way my main concern is the light. So the scribe has no light at all? I have the first generation one and I set the light to like 3 or 4 but yesterday I tested and turned it off it want too bad. I use my scribe as I would a regular notebook so I always have light anyways. Just seems odd to get rid of the light of all things. I did hear it’s better because it removes a layer but is it worth it?
