Has anyone else experienced this before?
My instructor is older, and I think as an independent driving instructor her favourite part of the job is meeting new people and making new friends.
We've struck up quite a bond, she asked me a lot about my holiday while I was driving once and I was happy to tell her loads (it was 2 weeks of Inter-railing).
However, has anyone else's instructor asked them to pop to the shop or any other errands before/after driving. She once asked me to pick up some disinfectant and gave me some money, and also asks me to help her with how to use her phone etc because I'm good with technology (she gave me money to buy her a new phone case 🥹). This isn't taking away from any lesson time, and I always get a full hour (sometimes more for free), and I'm happy to help her out with anything, but I wonder if this is a unique experience or if anyone else has had this before?
For context we've owned these JBL Control 1s for as long as I can remember (I'm 17 now). They've had quite a few uses, being used for a CD player/HDD Media Player originally, then being used as TV speakers, and now being used as PC speakers. The cone is very rough when gently pushed down, and any sound they make is distorted. The foam is just turning into dust (yes Mazzy star reference intended)
So is it worth refoaming? I don't want to bite the bullet and buy new speakers now, as apart from the distortion they still work perfectly.
For anyone who doesn't know what UCAS is, it's a service used in the UK to apply for University and apprenticeships!
For the 1 person curious about my current options:
Television and Radio Production at University of Salford
Film and Television Production at York St John University
Anyone remember these? Quite the fan of Bob Mortimer, however I don't know what much about Vic Reeves. Looking forward to seeing what these are about.
I think if I remember correctly my dad said it was someone at work who used to make these DVDs for him, there's a few films as well.
I got 2 yesterday, 2 today and more calls a week or two back. They all seem to be from the 'Immigration Bureau', no idea what country, saying I have emergency documents and they have not been able to get in contact with me.
It's quite obvious that it's spam but I'm still finding it quite interesting and amusing, especially the fact that the menu has options for English and Chinese, however the actual people in the call centre only speak Chinese and hang up when you say you speak English 😂
All calls are from a UK 07 number. I looked one up on Who Called Me and it had no reports.
Planning to travel to Whitby with friends next Sunday. Just to confirm, it's th Coastliner number 840 that goes to Whitby(?). And how long does it roughly take? We'll likely be getting on from York Rail station after getting the 1 from haxby (or 5 from Strensall for one of us)
Don't mind how bad the only image I got is...
On a 2 week interrailing holiday and stopping off at Europa Park for 2 days before going home. I only learned that this coaster will be closing next year after watching a video on the holiday home TV in Zermatt (our previous stop). Very sad in my opinion, because what a coaster it is!
Only queued for about 4 minutes which was surprising... Normal queue, 3pm on a Saturday in summer holidays. Wasnt even single rider. I thought it would be more popular as this is it's final year but I guess not.
The first thing I noticed was the soundtrack. As a fan of 90s dance and electronic music, I felt right at home. I did a spot of Shazaming and discovered the song was 'Lift-Off!' by CSO. The synths echoing through the spiral lift sounded brilliant. If the speakers were original, then they are still very clear and loud.
You get a bit of park watch at the top as the drop isn't until a bit. Once you do get to the drop, hold on because it is quite rough but proper fun! And the fact it spins is a bonus (my first spinning coaster). For an almost 30 year old ride, I was thrilled!
I'm 17 and still in sixth form education (I live in the UK) so sadly won't be able to come again to ride it, but I'm so glad I got one go on it. Maybe I'll have another go tonight before we leave. But if I don't (as I still have the wooden coaster to go) then rest in peace you beauty!
I'll start:
The Cure
New Order
Crystal Castles
Linkin Park
Mazzy Star
my bloody valentine
The Prodigy
Title Fight
Elliott Smith
I Prevail
Quite an ecentric mix, I also love a lot more hardcore punk and Midwest emo stuff, and shoegaze/noise is a big favourite genre of mine as well.
On a 2 week long interrailing holiday, needed some stuff for the holiday apartment in Italy and what do you know - still using an old version of Windows and connected to the Internet. Windows 7 in classic theme or maybe something older?
I've always wondered what it would be like to drive down the motorway and see a leaning tower of Citroen, or get stuck behind the P45
Yes, I'm watching a British TV channel in Switzerland. I can't be bothered watching anything local.
Good morning/afternoon/evening/night fellow aces...
This is something I've wondered about for a while. I've watched quite a few movies and TV shows which have sex scenes in them. For me, when they start furiously taking eachothers clothes off and then throw eachother onto the bed I start getting uncomfortable. Like I'm trying to watch Manifest, a show about a plane disappearing, you getting fucked by some guy has nothing to do with anything.
I don't know whether I'm fully sex repulsed. I get yeah it's kind of necessary if you want a biological child but I can't fathom the idea of taking everything off in front of another person, no matter how well you know them. And like there's much more productive things I could be doing than looking at someone without anything on.
Hugs and kisses I'm fine with. And when a sex scene is used for Comedic effect (The Inbetweeners Series 1 Episode 4) then I'll watch it because I can laugh at it.
So what's everyone elses opinions? Ace or not, from all over the spectrum. I'm interested :)
We sometimes see contestants with an MP3 player, which I think is a smart choice.
What essential albums would you take with you? Or artists you couldn't live without?
This is not an engagement farming post, I'm genuinely interested
