One of my favorite tools I bought myself.

and before anybody says anything, no, it's not anywhere close to using a box scraper. But for small quick jobs, especially after the rain storms to smooth out the driveway, and regrade where the water likes to flow, having a sleeve hitch with a little scraper makes quick work. I share a tractor with my dad, so we have to move it back and forth, I'll be using it for a big job here soon, but this job was done in the time it would have taken to go load up the tractor on the trailer and haul it over to my house.

Getting a T14 Gen 7 in for review. What questions do you have about one?

Specs as far as I know:
Core U5, 14 WUXGA, 16GB, 512 SSD.

I have a small youtube channel, Lenovo sometimes lends me a laptop for 30 days to do a review on. This time it's a T14 Gen 7. The above specs are all I know so far about the system I am getting. If anybody is shopping one of these and would like to know anything more specific about them Let me know and I'll try to answer your questions.

I typically do two videos, First one I call a hardware showcase where I open it up and look at the guts of the machine, then I do a full review after using it for a couple of weeks.

It should be here by Thursday.

I also have a thinkbook 14x coming that I bought with my own money if anybody is interested in that.

From when I had hope...

this was a 2003.5 Mazda Mazdaspeed Protege I had (#2750/2750) It was a fun car, but it was a constant headache and needed something, and the parts that made it special were unobtainium.

T14 g2 AMD vs. 845 G8 vs. Latitude 5420 - what do you want to know?

I currently have all three in my hands, and being that these were released at the same time, have the same generation of CPU, and I feel like all have hit that price/performance level that makes them very attractive, I thought people might be interested in the differences between them. Let me know what questions you may have about them.

If people want to know about performance: The ryzen 5 is about 40% faster than an i7 in benchmarks, but the i7 iGPU is about 20% faster than the ryzen. I've tested a lot of laptops with this gen of CPU and that's the average I get.

Waiting on my 2017 CT6

Upgrading from my 2000 Cadillac Catera that has served me well but is getting very hard to get parts for.

Picked one in amethyst metallic. Hope it looks as good in person as it does in pictures. Test drove the one local one to me and loved it. But the dealer was playing games and pushed the price up after I want to look at it had had crazy fees. So had to buy one from another state and get it shipped…

What is an Electra glide worth with $75k miles?

I have a Royal Enfield 350 I’m selling for $3500. Someone offered to trade me for an Electra Glide with 75k miles. I don’t know anything else about it, but with that many miles, even with half decent maintenance, would I be taking on a project?

I’m selling the 350 because I need something to commute to my office 1-2 times a month that gets better gas mileage than my F-150, as the drive is 120 miles one way. I was planning on buying a smaller sedan for the drive.

I live in a rural area and the 350 is great to putt around town on and gets 90+ mpg, but doesn’t do highways. I have a bigger bike but it’s not comfortable on the 2+ hour drive.

Just wondering if I should entertain this trade offer.

Edit: it’s a 2003, maroon red. I’ll post the pictures he sent below.

Man I wish these had a better engine/transmission and lasted longer than they did...

I know people don't really consider them "jeeps" gut I loved the heck out of my patriot, and beat on it pretty hard. I eventually sold it after it was in an accident that it was never right after (was rear ended). But the CVT was pretty trash and the 2.4l had 0 power and got terrible fuel economy.

I still think these were more useful than modern smartphones.

Smartphones are superior in every way, but I feel like these were a better tool, and less distracting than modern phones.

My “peak” thinkpads

These are the best thinkpads, in my opinion.

From left to right -
X31 - one of the last IBM designed machines. The keyboard is fantastic, no trackpad, track point only. I use it as my journal machine.
P1 gen7 - I got to review one for my YouTube channel, fell in love so hard sold a whole collection of laptops, including my X270 and 25th anniversary to be able to buy it. No regrets. I like it more than the P1 gen 8 I reviewed recently.
T14 gen 2 AMD - the best bang for your buck right now. Unless you get an insane deal on something else, you can get one of these cheap and their performance is awesome. Mine cost me $50, but it needed and ssd and battery. I also added another 8gb of ram to make it 16.
W530 - still one of the best desktop replacement laptops I’ve worked on. It was the model that my first big boy job in IT as a system admin job came with. It was a sign that I had made it, despite the world (and my parents) acting like I was a failure because I didn’t go to college.

Honorable mentions:
X270 - one of my absolute favorite laptops period. It was far from faultless, but for a compact light do everything machine, I loved it.
25th anniversary - I know to be a 25th anniversary system, it couldn’t be released with the 8th gen cpus, and so it suffered greatly performance wise. I loved mine, but I do a lot of video editing, and time is money and it was costing me too much. If I could get that exact system today, with the bridge battery, Face ID, touch screen, 7 row keyboard, just with a modern mobo with a modern cpu, I would be all over it.

How often does Carvana drop the price of a vehicle?

There is a car I'm interested in, but it's on the other side of the country so shipping is $1990. The price of the vehicle is in my budget... if I don't account for shipping, but that shipping cost is killer. They just dropped it $600. How likely are they to drop it again soon if there is not a lot of interest in the car? If they drop it another $500 I could probably buy the car - I plan on paying cash.

All similar cars have shipping $1200-1990, the one that did not that fit my wants went for sale within a day or two. I live rural and there were none for me to test drive so had to wait for the weekend to drive 4 hours to go test drive one to see if I even like it. by the time I got back it had sold.

Finally up to 3 full oz in my tube.

A while back I decided to start stacking 1/10th oz coins. I have several full oz bars (and 5 and 10 gram bars) but really like the variety I get with these. I had to slow down because my YouTube channel started earning a lot less ad revenue when they started pushing shorts at the same time gold started spiking in price, I set aside 1/4th my YouTube revenue to add to my stack. My goal is a full 50 1/10th oz coins before I go back to bars.

Is this something covered under warranty?

It’s not damage to the paint like a scratch, but corrosion under the paint…

I can’t think of a worse road surface than loose gravel.

It’s hard, soft, you sink into it, it throws you around, even when going slow. Any tips for riding on it? I usually go really slow (like 5mph) with my feet out to steady me.

Normally I avoid these roads, but it’s becoming more common around me for people to gravel the roads in front of their house (rural area, lots of dirt roads).

Edit: I mean the actual road surface. not ice on top of the pavement, or sand, or gavel on top of pavement. Where the actual road is just.. gravel. Like they went out and paid money to have this be the road.

considering a CT6, 2.0T, 3.6, or 3.0T?

Going to look at a couple of these this weekend, the 3.6 seems to be the most common engine, and the "cheapest" option. but consensus is that it's the worst engine? is that correct?

What other things should I be considering when looking at these?

Hitting the age where I'm getting hit up by recently divorced friends...

Not sure if anybody else has had this happen, but it seems like in the last year or so, I've been hit up by now 5 people (women, I'm a man) who were just friends back in high school, or people I had dated years ago but not serious, and ended on good terms.

I am not a big social media user, and don't post anything personal on there, I participate in a lot of car and motorcycle shows, and my awards and just pictures of the events are 95% of my posts. Nothing about my personal life is posted, nothing about my kids or wife. my profile is public, and I am on my high school's group for the year I graduated.

Each time, I thought that people were just wanting to catch up, say hi, whatever, but quickly disappear when I mention my wife and kids, and after some snooping, it seems like they all have been recently divorced and my wife thinks they are now trying to see who they can find who might be single/divorced themselves, and she thinks it's hilarious.
