Should my husband give me some of his BAH on deployment?

My husband is deploying and I am wondering if it’s reasonable for me to ask for some of his BAH. We were married earlier this year and we were long distance. Before we got married I lived with my parents and he lived in the barracks. After we got married I wasn’t paying any rent. When he deploys I plan to go back to my family and live with them. We have kinda joint finances. We have mostly separate finances; we’re added onto each other’s credit cards and bank accounts so sometimes he’ll spend on my credit card and vice versa, and sometimes he’ll send me money to pay my credit card and vice versa, but our income is deposited into our own accounts. I know everyone’s situation is different, but do you think I should get some of his BAH? I don’t plan to spend it frivolously (or at all), it’s mostly about whether it’s reasonable for me to feel entitled to it. Before I got married I did not pay any rent or expenses living with my family. If I need to pay now since I’m married, I would definitely be asking for money from my husband. I think that’s reasonable. I haven’t had the discussion with my family on whether I should be contributing financially to their household and property while I live there. Interested to hear your input. Thanks y’all.

Any airline employees, brass musicians, or military?

Hi folks! Looking for friends to chat with. My partner is in the military, so if you are military or a military spouse would love to get to know each other. I also non-rev and travel a lot, so if you’re an airline employee would love to meet in person too! Finally, I’ve wanted to learn trumpet so hit me up if you play a brass instrument! Thanks y’all!

What are some good RMTs to go to?

My extended health insurance covers as a customary charge $88 for a half hour, $116 per 45 mins, and $136 per hour. Are there any providers or nice facilities within these limits?

Transferring/Gifting Reservations between Accounts

Hi folks, I have had a Globalist account for several years that’s my MiddleName LastName. I have a Chase account that’s FirstName LastName. I can’t transfer my Chase points to my Hyatt account. I have a Hyatt account that has my first name but has no status. Normally I’d transfer UR-> Hyatt and then Hyatt -> Hyatt but I want to book a stay for tomorrow night and that’s not enough time. Can I make a reservation in my Hyatt account in my first name, then transfer the reservation to my Globalist account, or ‘gift’ the points in a stay?

Employee / Friends and Family Rates?

I have the Marriott employee rate and we can extend those to our spouse and other family members, which are 50-80%+ off. Do only FS employees get good discounts while everyone else is stuck with 10-30% off with FNF rates? Would love to hear from employees. Thanks!

ANA Availability to Partners

I see ANA releases J awards but only to certain partners. For example, on 9/14, HND SEA in J is available to Virgin Australia and United, but not Aeroplan and Lifemiles. Has anyone encountered this? Can you call AC to book on the phone?

Anyone at MCAS Miramar?

Hi folks, my husband is supposed to check into his reserve unit at MCAS Miramar but his CAC expired. He’s tried calling his unit multiple times and nobody has picked up. Is anyone here able to help?

I want to be a house husband

I was unemployed for two years after I graduated college in 2024. Before my degree I worked in the travel industry so I had some savings, and I also live at home with my parents so I don’t pay rent and they cook for me. Call me coddled, but I’m working a call center job which is just awful. Since I started I’ve made around $7000 and I would say I’ve spent $1000 at most during that time. $1000 went into SPY and the rest is just sitting in my checking account. I don’t get paid that much and if I quit my job my lifestyle doesn’t change other than me slowly draining my savings. I got married this year. We’re long distance still and since starting the job it’s been really hard to visit him. I don’t feel like I have much reason to live. There’s no enjoyment in life for me right now. Neither my parents or my husband understand my situation and I dunno if hearing other perspectives here would change things. I do think I wouldn’t mind a job but cushy tech jobs no longer exist. I can’t move with my husband because he’s American and I live in Canada. I have been through doctors and years of therapy and I’m told I’m fine because I don’t have active suicidal ideation or clinical depression. And I have been applying to job I’ve applied to 1000+ in the past two years.

Reposted because my original post got taken down by automod. And I got called a lazy bottom feeder and y’all aren’t wrong either I would call myself that if I could.

Operation Homefront Transitional Apartment Housing

Has anyone gone through this program where you get a subsidized/paid apartment for one year after discharge? It’s taking forever to get a response and my husband’s EAS is in two weeks and he has no place to live. He’s in SC but will be moving to WA after discharge. Would anyone have any suggestions for housing assistance as well other than the VA? Because he has no job lined up or anything either.

Unexpectedly closing the distance!!!

Haven’t posted here in a while, but today I (Canadian) learned that my husband’s (on the east coast of the US) 2500 miles away job circumstances has changed and he is potentially moving right to Washington State across the border. So he’ll be 1-4 hours away from me by car instead of 2-3 flights and a 12 hour travel day. NEXT MONTH. Is this what it’s like to be on cloud 9? I’m happy and thrilled is an understatement… this feels like a dream

Dealing with uncertainty

Wanted to get some advice on how to deal with uncertainty. My spouse is going from active duty to reserve because his MOS got full and he waited too long to reenlist. He wants to go back to active duty and he says he can’t start the process until he talks with a prior service recruiter or the career counselor at his new unit. Right now I have no idea whether he can stay in his MOS or if he has to pick a new one. There’s specific duty stations I want to be at. The needs of the military come first but I would like to know if possible whether I’ll have to be long distance and separated from him for another 6 months or if it’ll be 2 years. I wish I could have more information and I don’t know if I can talk to anyone to find out. My husband has no info and he just told me to wait and I just hate not knowing where I’m gonna be and if I’ll be long distance for another 2 years…

Paying for a good Plex Share

I currently pay for one but it’s not good and I am primarily looking for one that uploads new content very quickly (ideally same day). The series I’m watching are 90 day fiance, silo, and big brother, so if your share uploads that very quickly please PM. Thank you

US Visit Limit for Canadians

Does anyone have any data on how long Canadians are allowed to stay in the US on B2? I have been keeping track of my travel history into the US and over the past 365 days I have now been in the US for 182. That should mean I shouldn’t try and see my spouse tomorrow, right?

Will I be let in the US tomorrow?

I’ve spent 182 days in the US in the last 365. Who wants to take bets on if I’ll be let in on B2 as a Canadian citizen tmrw? Haha nothing like rolling the dice on immigration

Edit: I don’t want to take bets anymore my friends said trying to enter tmrw is a bad idea

Housing Support

Hi there, I am posting on behalf of my husband who is unexpectedly getting out of active duty next month. He is USMC stationed in South Carolina and is planning on moving back to San Diego which is his home of record. At this moment he has no job or housing lined up. I live outside the US right now, so he doesn’t have the option of moving in with me. I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on any programs that can help. I have reached out to Veterans Village of San Diego and Operation Homefront. I have no idea how he’s going to qualify for a lease as he doesn’t have employment. He has applied for VA disability but he was too late to do a BDD claim so it will take months presumably. He’s open to moving to places other than San Diego as well. Thank you.
