Kudos to TBC’s customer service team

It’s easy to complain about things and I’ve been known to do that but it’s also easy to give credit where credit is due.

I recently purchased another pair of Captain boots but this time in one of the R&R leathers. I promptly received the boots but had a small quality issue with them.

I reached out to TBC’s customer service and received a very professional and courteous reply within a few hours asking if I would mind sending them a few pictures but that they had already set-up a replacement pair to be shipped to me. I sent them the pictures, printed the prepaid UPS label they sent me and had them on the UPS truck the next day. Within two days, I had my new pair of boots delivered and they are perfect.

It’s nice to spend money with a company that actually gives a damn and stands behind their product. I haven’t had such good luck with Redwing. My thank you goes out to TBC’s customer service team and to TBC for standing behind their products and taking care of customers. Soon I’ll be back for my third pair of boots based off the price, quality and customer service.

I’m not a paid shill, just a very happy customer and wanted to acknowledge my feelings about TBC.

That smell 🎶

I absolutely love this pair of Captain boots in Tobacco leather. I’ve worn them for a couple weeks but I had an issue.

From the moment they arrived and I opened the box there was a horrible chemical smell emanating from them. I figured it would go away. It didn’t. I tried to air them out by putting them outside. It didn’t work.

I had to stop wearing them to work as coworkers mentioned smelling something. It was somewhat embarrassing.

The smell is/was coming from the leather uppers of the boots. I assume it’s from tanning agents used when processing the leather.

After two weeks and the horrible chemical smell not dissipating, I reached out to Thursday Boots. They were respectful and asked me to provide so specific pictures of the boots and the packaging.

In their first response to me after asking about the smell, they already got me set-up with a replacement pair. Kudos to Thursday Boots customer service as they were super quick to help and to ask insightful questions.

The purpose of me posting this is has anyone else experienced a very chemical smell from Thursday’s tobacco leather? I’m genuinely curious what is causing the horrible odor.

There are many like it but this one is mine…

It’s always fun to come home from work and find a new CRK knife on your doorstep that UPS dropped off earlier in the day. She was born on June 8, 2026. This is my second Inkosi and my first with the Insingo blade. I absolutely love this blade shape. It’s perfect for my needs.

Applebee’s

The $9.99 Applebee’s cheeseburger and fries is pretty good and actually less expensive than true fast food.

Fried okra chips

I’ve posted fried okra that I’ve grown and cooked at home. I love to cook it and eat it. This evening I had the opportunity to take a customer out for dinner and we ordered some ‘okra chips’ and truffle oil fried mushrooms for an appetizer. The okra was sliced lengthwise and properly seasoned. It was really good. I love true Southern cuisine and grew up eating it, mainly because my family was poor and we always had a garden and my grandparents and parents would can vegetables to feed us throughout the year. Through a lot of hard work, college and eventually an MBA I was able to reach a point where I was able to eat what I grew up eating and enjoy the memories of my grandmothers teaching me how to properly cook real Southern food. With that said, it’s very cool to see what a competent chef, at an upscale restaurant can do to elevate a basic side dish.

I baked a blueberry pie 🫐 🥧

I love to bake pies. Fruit pies are so easy to make and they taste amazing either with or without a scoop of vanilla ice cream 😋

I finally got them all…

I’m glad that’s over. I’ve been playing since day one and it’s been a struggle. The event today helped me get it done.

Tonight’s dinner

For dinner tonight I cooked some nicely seasoned hamburger steaks and topped them with a mushroom/onion/cream gravy. For a side I baked some garlic/Parmesan potatoes and beans. The onions and beans came out of the backyard garden 😊
