GI tract refuses to function properly

I am not asking for medical advice.

31M

122lbs

5' 10"

Long story short, it feels like I'm playing Russian Roulete with my GI tract every day.

It already takes all day (not an exageration; the average bathroom trip for defecation exceeds 24 hour.) I make things as easy as possible for my gut. I don't eat fiber, greatly reducing the mass of stool that should be present (eating fiber mearly makes the trips take longer.) I regularly have to spend the majority of the trip flushing my large intestine with a 1L tap water enema- it refuses to clear out otherwise. I keep doing the enemas until the fluid comming out is clear (or slightly colored green or yellow from bile.)

After a few enemas come out clear, I'll stop and sit on the toilet for another hour to let any and all water drain. Upon getting out, I pop three Imodium tablets (3x 2mg loparmide hcl) before eating dry puffed rice cereal to absorb any remaining moisture.

However, despite all this, my large intestine has been creating stool and forcing it to fly through it before leaking- often times less than eight hours after I got off the toilet.

I eat a gluten free (I have celiac disease,) low FODMAP, lactose free diet.

For example, I got off tge toilet two trips ago having spent 31 hours in. Five houts later, I was back in. My diet in between was 1/5 box of (gluten free) dry puffed rice cereal, ywo slices of butter bread, a few slices of American cheese (I took Lactaid before,) a single serve pack of York peppermint patties, and a 1/5 box of puffed rice cereal with lactose free milk.

What is going on here? I want my life back.

Seriously engineers, I can't use a network switch?

About four years ago, when my grandmother (who lived with me) was still alive and we were on Comcast, I ran ethernet through the house. I ran a cat6e from the living room (where the modem was,) into the basement (which has exposed rafters,) up the "outside" of the chimney (between it and the drywall, through the attic, and down into my bedroom.

When I switched to Fios, the installer came out, cut the cat6e in the basement, put a connector on the side leading to my bedroom, and plugged it into the ONT, leaving the leg leading to the living room dead. He placed the router in my bedroom.

Today, I installed a network switch/PoE injector (and the outlet to power it) next to the ONT and installed a connector on the dead living room leg, intending to connect a smart TV and my gaming PC (which had been relocated to the living room) via a Netgear GS305P.

And it completely failed because the ONT can't handle two computer IP addresses- but can handle a phone, tablet, one laptop, and a smart thermostat all with their own IPs.

So now, instead of taking the literally free software fix, I now have to relocate the router to the basement rafters (building a shelf for it) or run cat6e from my bedroom, completely retracing the path of the original one.

I swear, it doesn't matter what they touch- cars, consumer appliances, infrastructure, even basic home network equipment- engineers can't seem to not screw over the guy doing the work.

This carnival goldfish...

...ISN'T GOING TO DIE.

A few days ago, I took my ball python (go ahead, call me crazy- I do that to show the public they aren't bloodthirsty monsters) to a local carnival. (He goes out regularly.) I played a game and won a "fancy" goldfish (and a green anole.) The woman wouldn't let me leave without my prize...

So, I'm a new fish owner, and I was completely unprepared.

I bought the 55 gal tank in the picture off FB (and scrubbed the Hell out of it with Dawn, followed by Wipeout, white vinegar, and a steam cleaner.) The decor piece I picked up for free months earlier lanning to use ir as a reptile hide. Ditto for the light. Buying the air system, water conditioner, food, and bacteria starter clean out what I had left to spend.

I still need to get a filter, and that's my priority as soon as my check drops. That should be no later than Monday and I'm hoping a 55 gallon can temporarily maintain it until then. I live five minutes from a Petco, 15 from an aquarium hobbyist shop, and an hour from the best pet store on the East coast, so physically getting the filter isn't an issue. Any suggestions for a filter?

I'm planning to go bioactive. I was going to make my own substrate, then I learned that both my topsoil had chicken manure in it and that sand is apoor choice for a top coating. Suggestions for plants?

I'm not planning to add a heater to the tank as my house is roughly 70°F. Is this a good idea or not?

The water is straight tap water, mixed with a total of 25ml of water conditioner and 50ml of bacterial starter. I'm on city water, but plan to add a whole house water filter/RO/UV system. Is doing this urgent?

Finally, what else can I add to the enclosure? What other fish/freshwater marib3 organisms can I add?

It's a four way stop...

If a traffic light has no power.

Seriously, someone nearly rear ended me- then proceeded to lay on the horn for a good 30 seconds at the PRECIEVED slight of me randomly stopping in the middle of the road.

This is basic Drivers Ed. stuff, guys.

Declined despite sufficient funds.

I tried to buy a few things using my Crimson card at Wegmans today. The charge was $7.95. I had $10.82 in it. I had just used it at Home Depot 20 minutes earlier. Why is it suddenly declining

How to stay in my area

It's currently 8:49PM. I am alright dashing at night as long as I stay out of Baltimore City.

The city has a massive crime rate and I refuse to go in there after dark.

I selected my area (Arbutus,) about five miles from downtown, but the app keeps trying to drag me into high crime areas.

Is there anyway I can explicitly exclude areas?

Why do gas pump holds exist?

I purchased $10 of gas yesterday using my Venmo debit card- which is a Mastercard. Venmo put a $50 hold on it, basically draining it and stopping me from buying groceries. My question is why?

It is 2026; the internet was created in the 80s. Gas pumps are connected to the internet (particularly the one I used just outside Baltimore at a Shell station.) Therefore, the pump "knows" how much money I have. And if it knows how much I can afford, it can cut off when it reaches that point.

So, since the pump has access to this exact information (don't go above x value,) why are we still using holds? I'm still down $40 over 24 hours later.

Hide and Seek: Celebrity

Its H&S, but neither team is the seekers- we are.

Each team will pick a city to hide in. In that city, they may go to any publically accessible, non-private (i.e. not a restroom) and lay low. Upon reaching their hiding spot, they must post a hint on r/JetLagTheGame. Every t ime a viewer finds them and calls them out, they earn a point (one per person who finds them.)

The goal is to have the least points at the end of the game. For every minute spent "hiding," they earn a coin. Coins can be spent to force the opposing team to reveal more information about their location, up to and including their exact GPS coordinates for the most expensive curses.

Parasite in greens

Should I be concerned? Here in the US, 31 states (mine included) have detected Cyclospora cayetanensis, AKA the "Explosive Diarrhea Parasite," in greens and other leafy vegetables. What can I feed mine in the meantime?

Duckie wanted to visit somewhere he saw in JLTG. Fortunately, it was only a 15 minute drive away.

Jet Lag: Southern Africa?

Just looking for new areas they might play in. Considering it has the same risk as France and Spain, it should be safe enough.

2016 frequently overheats

I have a 2016 Subaru Forester 1.5L that was a hand-me-down from my mom.

For the past year, it has been intermittently overheating at idle, but not while driving. I have an aftermarket instrument gauge installed to monitor engine temp directly.

If I let it idle for a couple of minutes, the temperature rapidly shoots up (in under two minutes) from its normal 194F to over 250F- particularly in traffic. If I shift into low gear while driving, I can usually get the temperature to drop off precipitously after it quickly rises a few degrees. Often times, the oil and AT oil overheats. I may drive with a lead foot, but none of the cars I've driven in my life overheated like this.

The fans are turning. I've already replaced the thermostat. I've done a flush and replace the coolant with new Subaru branded CVT fluid. I've replaced the radiator cap, which seemed to fix it for a bit, but now its back. Yet, for some reason, coolant pours into the overflow reservoir and doesn't seem to return to the cooling system. There are no leaks, nor and milk colored oil when I change it.

How can I fix this?

BP has brown scales

His enclosure is closer to room humidity as his humidifier broke and I'm waiting for my next check. I thought scale rot could only come from excess humidity, right?

He seemed slightly lethargic today and now (after I deep cleaned his enclosure,) is sleeping in his water bowl.

What should I do?

Using a condom on a snake

So, after I get off work at 3pm today, I'm going to be relocating a rat snake that's currently stuck on a glue trap (I'd post pictures, but reddit can neither handle .msg files or let me access my phone to get the converted .jpeg.).

Anyway, I'm fully expecting to get bitten and I really don't care. But, I'd REALLY rather not get pooped on if possible. So, I had an idea: could I use an unlubricated (lubricated by me with water based lubricant,) non-spermicidal, plain latex condom as a diaper? (His tail is not caught on the trap.)

Would this be safe for them?

How to convince my parents I'm not incompetent? 30M, 60M, 57F

I am a 30M living about 10 minutes from my parents, a 60M and 57F. In 2020, my parents bought a house in order to get my grandmother out of the rapidly deteriorating inner city neighborhood she was in. I moved in with her to help care for her. She passed away September 2024.

Now, I'm living on my own.

This house they bought, however, is nowhere near code complaint- despite having been inspected prior to purchasing. The back porch and attic have exposed wire nuts (they should be in boxes) and exposed 14-2 ungrounded romex (should be grounded, be THHN instead of romex, and in conduit.) The microwave was hanging on drywall rather than being mounted to studs- I found that out after it died and I went to replace it. Half of the house is on a single ungrounded circuit and has "false ground" grounded outlets on it. I damn near had to breach the backdoor because the door knob jammed even when unlocked (that's getting replaced this evening. The neither bathroom or kitchen has a GFCI and are not on dedicated circuits as per code. The gate leading to the back yard can't open fully as the ground under its arc wasn't graded flat. The retaining wall for the front garden has zero structural integrity. There's no insulation outside of the attic, nor a moisture barrier.

In short, its better than nothing, but it needs a good deal of work.

I don't have the money to pay a professional to fix everything. Fortunately, there's a Home Depot five minutes away and I'm more than technically competent. I repaired 480v and 408v 3 phase airfield lighting equipment and HVAC equipment at a former job (despite not being a licensed electrician.) I've done supply and DWV plumbing (I refuse to touch gas.) I've done framing, drywalling, and painting. I've run cat 6 Ethernet through my entire home and added PoE capability to it. Ditto for an OTA TV antenna and (properly grounded) rooftop weather station. I've repaired major and minor appliances and electonics, often going down to the individual component level. I've worked on my own car pretty much since I started driving, doing everything from oil changes to suspension, engine, and transmission work. I've assisted A&P mechanics at another job, maintaining both piston and turbine aircraft under their supervision (as required by law.)

In short, I am anything but incompetent. But, my parents refuse to acknowledge that. When my HVAC blower went up last month in the middle of a heat wave, I had to wait until payday to order the part- they had plenty of money they could've loaned me but were preoccupied with winterizing an exterior faucet in April. (They spent $3k on that- I could've done it for less than $150) End result: five nights of sleeping in the basement and one dead pet skink that overheated. I fixed that myself in an hour after the part got in. They've seen me work on my car and claim I'm not good at it because I don't do it as fast as a professional mechanic. A professional mechanic with an enclosed space, pneumatic tools, and a 10ft car lift while I'm shimmying underneath trying to i.e. line up a 40lbs exhaust manifold in three dimensions, with ~2" of clearance between it and the studs, with less than 3mm of wiggle room, using hand tools to remove rusted on bolts, all on a windy 35F day.

Right now, the other door knob still needs to be installed and the house basically needs to be rewired. I have the skills to do it safely and correctly, but they don't care. In their mind, only professionals can do anything. And now they're trying to ban me from doing the work myself (technically, they have a combined 90% share in ownership of the house- I have the remaining 10%.)

How can I drive it into their heads that I know what I'm doing?
