Hey everyone.

I’m 32 weeks pregnant and I’m feeling really overwhelmed trying to learn about labour and delivery. I’m signed up for a birth class that’s 4 days total, but one of the days of the class goes past my due date.

There’s a lot of reading material, but I find a lot of it is driven towards hospital births, and I’m going to a birth center with midwives. I do have a doula as well.

Can any recommend some easy to read articles or something like a YouTube channel?

I can’t seem to shake this bug I have, it’s been a week. My sinuses are plugged, some chest congestion and I generally feel quite sick. I’m 6 months along.

I’ve been trying to use some dried mushroom in pasta and rice dishes. I can’t get over their weird taste, it’s hard to describe except for that they’re extremely earthy and maybe stale. The directions on the bag are to soak them for 30min, rinse and then soak again for 30min. I actually repeat the process a few times trying to get rid of their funk with no avail. Any tips?

I know glycolic acid is a very potent acid and should never be used on broken skin. However I gave it a try on my extremely flakey and dry eczema patches on my face, inner elbows and lower legs. I didn’t experience any burning. I found my lotion was able to get in to my skin better and my eczema healed within 5/6 days when usually a flare up can take 2-3 weeks to completely heal.

I have suffered from eczema for so long. I’ve tried countless lotions, soaps, creams, ointments, natural products, UV, diet, etc. I’ve found what kind of works for my skin, but I often still have a broken skin barrier and extreme itchiness. Adding glycolic acid seems to be my miracle product. Has anyone else had this experience?

From some google searches, I’ve found that eczema prone skin actually likes to be on the acidic side. If you have an eczema / dermatitis patch, the skin actually starts to become basic which weakness the skin barrier, causing moisture loss and staph bacteria to thrive. Soap and cleansers are on the basic side, lotions and oils are close to neutral.

I finally found a pelvic floor therapist office taking new clients for some issues I’ve been having before and during pregnancy. The office scheduled me in and had me do an intake form, all normal stuff. I saw the name of my provider and decided to check out their website and found out the provider was a male. I called the office and left a message to request a female provider because I’m only comfortable with a woman doing an exam and work in such a private area. When the receptionist contacted me back, she sounded extremely offended that I wanted a woman, and that she can’t guarantee anyone’s actual gender, only go by their pro nouns. She sounded SUPER offended on their behalf.

She did book me in with a woman afterwards, but today a week later, the receptionist has contacted me again and canceled my appointments with the woman, and booked me back in with the male provider.

I just wanted to be emotionally comfortable for such an intimate thing. This feels so weird.

I have a mix of 2A and 2B hair. I really love my hair, but it’s a lot of work to style and I have a baby on the way. I do need a hair cut, it’s currently extremely dense and a couple inches past my bra line.

If I got a perm with the larger rollers, would this help cut down on my routine?

I’ve made some sets to sell at a local consignment shop but I’m struggling to come up with a price.

My western sets are medium and dark brown, silver coloured hardware, no tooling. Belt, wide spur straps, matching rectangular dangle earrings.

- also wondering if I should include a matching belt buckle

English set is just plain black with simple hardware, thin belt and matching thin spur straps.

My husband’s socks go very hard after they’ve been worn and can even be somewhat stiff out of the dryer. This happens even with his brand new socks after a couple washes. Cotton or wool. He works a blue collar job and they’re often pretty damp at the end of the day. This is the only clothing I have this trouble with.

I use Kirklands fragrance free detergent, and I use it very sparingly. Maybe 1.5 TBSP on a full/large load. Always warm to hot water. Always a citric acid rinse (I try to get the PH to 4-5). We do have hard water (calcium and iron). I’ve also tried adding 1/2 cup baking soda to the wash cycle and replacing the detergent with 1/2 tsp of dawn dish soap out of desperation.

Any advice?

My vehicle was backing out of an angled parking space and was 7/8ths of the way out when another drive surged out of their angled spot and hit my vehicle. They admitted on camera they did not see us and were at fault. ICBC is saying it’s still not enough proof and because both vehicles were in reverse it’s likely going to be 50/50.

Hoping I can get some advice on my dog.

I have an 12yr old cattle dog, who for her whole life time has been stuck to my side and very obedient. About a week ago we were out in my cows pasture and she touched a tail of wire that was hot. We were close to one another and she acted as if I was the one who “got her”. She instantly ran and kept turning to look at me and refused to get in my truck for at least 10 minutes.

Now she is also extremely hesitant to leave her kennel or even follow me outside for her bathroom breaks. Once she’s outside she’ll often wait until I’m not looking and try to run back to the house.

I’m feeling pretty heart broken over the whole thing. She’ll happily take treats from me and play fetch, but it’s the in between times she’s avoiding me. I’ve also put her on a leash and she’ll try to set back sometimes, which is SUPER unusual, she’s always been very good on a leash.

I’m pregnant and can’t ride anymore. I desperately need some horse related projects to do at home. Bonus if I could sell it after. I can sew, knit, and do basic leather work

I’m not trying to make this a political thing.

My mother (62) is horribly obsessed with watching the news and it has gotten worse over the last couple of years. It’s 3-4 hours a day when it’s at its worst.

I noticed she’s become a lot more hateful, judgemental and fearful. When I try to share news about my life, she gives me short answers then says something along the lines of “did you hear / see on the news that _____ happened?”. She has also brought up a couple of times that I’m very out of touch because I don’t watch the news. I just consume my “news” in a different form and I’m not public about it.

She’ll bring up some political/news stuff in inappropriate times (like she does on subjects we know we don’t agree on) in front of other people and make them visibly uncomfortable.

She’ll even get fired up and raise her voice at the screen. She’ll take a news anchors opinions as fact, even if the anchor says “well my opinion is _____”. We actually share a lot of similar political views, but I try to remain a skeptic which I’ve learned not to display or it’ll cause her to become quite upset.

When I’m over visiting at her house I’ve asked if we could change the channel or watch a movie to hang out and she gets PISSED.

I’m 20 weeks pregnant and just had an ultrasound done. My baby was head down, so my tech was having trouble getting a face view. Several times she pressed very hard in to my belly with the wand and jiggled me. I told her several times she was hurting me. I have pelvic floor pain / bladder even before pregnancy that I’ve been addressing for a couple years. after my appointment I looked it up and I know it’s normal for the tech to have to jostle you around a bit to get baby to move, I’m just upset about no communication. Three times I put my hand up and told her she was hurting me (I told her about my pelvic pain the second time). She’d say sorry or ignore me, move to a different spot then do the same thing.

I’m really fortunate to have a wonderful team of midwives, but every time I have to go to the hospital for imaging or whatever, I’m so very disappointed in my experience as a woman. I don’t get asked for consent, I don’t get informed and I feel subhuman.

I’ve gotten grief from people who are close to me about going to birth house, but this is really why.

I struggle with hydration sometimes and I find having some electrolytes with it can help quite a bit. But I’m finding that the electrolyte drinks you can buy that aren’t full of crap / sugar are pretty expensive. Could someone just take a potassium, magnesium and salt capsule?

Hi everyone. Posting to see if there is someone who has an established lavender operation. I’ve been considering starting a plot on my acreage for some time, I think next spring is the time to try, but I did have some questions.

1. What is your most profitable product? Starts, established plants, bundles, bulk sales?

2. If pursuing the bulk sales, where are you finding buyers? Google is coming up a bit dry

3. What did you do to make your product stand out from others?

4. Were there other crops that you found to be comparable with your operation?

I am not interested in doing agri tourism. But I would be open to attending farmers markets. I’m between two cities that have some sizeable markets with a lot of traffic. Most plant start and produce booths are nearly sold out at the end of the day.

I have the acreage, I’ll need to adjust my soil a bit but that’s not a big deal to me, organic growing practices and a lot of vegetable growing experience.

I have the itch to try lavender from seed again. But I’m unsure if fall planting would be ok?
