Saw a piece on the facegrams/tickbooks of life where Alan was begrudging his cane because he said people would look at him with pity.

The piece continues with Mike Farrel carving "property of 4077 MASH" into it and returning it saying it's not a cane, it's official military issue.

The two hug/cry/etc and Alan stands a bit taller now.

AI slip or is there any truth to the "story". It sounds conveniently true but the cynic in me doubts.

Anyone able to verify?

I have a Fenix 5s that has sufficiently degraded over the last five years so much in terms of battery life that it's come time to get a new watch.

I know Connect can maintain my data for me as I transfer to a new device. I'm curious though: will each be in its own container or can I still get totals since joining the Garmin Connect site?

While homemade is always the best, if you had to pick a brand (i.e. Pace, Ortega, Tostitos, La Costeña, etc), what is your go to for regular consumption?

I am coming up on the year anniversary of the homeowner warranty and the only real reason I got it was in case the AC crapped out. It's not cooling the upstairs, and part of me wants it to die so I can get the replacement compressor for the $100 inspection cost. Another part of me is concerned they'll tweak useless stuff and let it limp along until I renew for another $1000, then charge another $100 twenty times as it limps through another year, then rinse/repeat. That's usually how these warranty companies work in my limited experience, especially when I can't pick who does the service work.

I got assigned a contractor (red flag) from Airflo LLC to come for the first service call. Surprisingly, it gets good reviews online, and comes rated above average for fairness and pricing. I always have tried to get three different quotes before any major repairs or upgrades on anything, but now my hands are kind of tied by the warranty folks. Looking for suggestions/tips/etc on what underhanded tactics are common in the HVAC industry. It's probably one of the most clueless areas for me when it comes to maintenance and service, (despite being clueless about many areas of home maintenance and service lol) so any advice is welcomed.

I vaguely remember a behind-the-scenes kind of show or interview with Alex (RIP, about what his preparation looked like. Going over the clues and answers on this massive printed page, noting pronunciation for tricky words or foreign words (except French ofc). It was massively impressive the amount of work it must have taken just to prep for one show. Prepping for 5 shows a day just takes it so next level for me.

Do you think Ken does the same amount of preparation? I wonder what his routine is to get everything down. Both Alex and Ken seemed/seem so fluid and never stumbled in their delivery and I am always impressed by it.

Tangentially, does anyone else remember that airing of the "behind-the-scenes" show, and if it could be re-watched somewhere?

I know they're not the same guy, and apologies to Tristan because you've been fun to watch, but I can't help it - I have to ask. Does anyone else see the similarity between him and Lloyd Braun on Seinfeld? (I know they're not the same person, the guy who played Lloyd is actor Matt McCoy, but still...I can't unsee it now that it popped in my head)

I absolutely love this episode for several reasons. Hawkeye really makes me feel tired in his delivery, yes. But CEW3 takes this scene to the moon with his letter to the little girl chokes me up every. damn. time.

I purchased a home about a year ago but there were a few things the seller would not fix or replace. I've taken care of most but the AC unit outside is obviously on its last legs at 30 years old.

To mitigate this I also bought a 1 year home owners warranty for $1000. While I'm likely going to renew it, part of me can't help but wonder what sort of ULPT might make it fail sooner rather than later without showing signs of tampering.
