Bar exam: what was your strategy?

Posting here because I got zero feedback on the patenbarexam subreddit.

Wondering if those that passed the exam can share their general strategy to answer some questions I have:

  1. how many total hours did you study?
  2. how long did you study for in terms of weeks/months?
  3. what study materials did you use?
  4. how many times did you take the exam before you passed?

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Favorite walking trails in the North Cape

I am moving to North Cape Coral (smacked dab in the middle, neither west nor east)

I would really like some information about nice trails to walk or hike in the area. I like to do 5 km in the morning before work, and would really appreciate some direction.

Favorite iPhone walking app paired with Apple watch (iOS)

I have an iPhone and Apple Watch and would like to track my steps with an app that is compatible with both.

Sometimes I want to check the number of steps I’ve walked on my watch without picking up my phone.

The current application that I use does not display steps on my watch.

iPhone/Apple Watch users, what is your favorite application to use to track your steps that is compatible with an Apple Watch?

Preparing for medical leave in 2 months and controlling spending NOW

I’m planning to go on medical leave without pay in November and I want to set aside money for the 2-3 months I’ll be away without pay.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I might be able to prepare for this?

Does anyone have advice on how I might be able to control my spending?

I only have about $31,000 in liquid savings at this point in my life. I have this in a high-yield savings account (3.8% interest)

I pull in about $2400 in savings each month but sometimes I have to use that on things I’ve spent.

Granted, I just bought a house and furnished it. The house, obviously requires lots of maintenance in payments.

I take into my checking account monthly about $2300 and that’s about what I spend in a month.

I really want to minimize that amount.

Obviously, when I’m traveling, this becomes more money spent. That’s the case for this month, too.

I also had to pay for my movers ($2.5K) and a course to become a patent agent ($1.2 K)

Does anyone have Tips that I can use on how I can minimize my spending?

Yes please?

Why do Greeks say “yes please?”

Other than the direct translation of «ναι, παρακαλώ» it doesn’t make grammatical sense in English.

Is it maybe correct in a different country which speaks also English that I’m not aware of?

Who taught them they should say this?

I don’t know that they know that it grammatically doesn’t make sense.

Study routine question: How did you pass?

For all those that passed the exam, what was your study routine like?

How often did you study? How many days per week? How many weeks?

For those who did not pass the first time, but passed a subsequent time, what was the game changer for you?

How long does it take you?

How long does it take you to walk the number of steps that you walk every single day?

Do you do it in multiple sessions or do you walk continuously?

EDIT: I care more about the amount of time that it takes you than how much you actually walk.

Please include the time it takes you to walk in your reply.

That’s the whole point of my post.

What’s the spread for FAOM hours?

Different arts have a different average number of hours given per case for a FAOM NFs.

For new/restricted cases, I’ve seen 17h, 20h, 22h (talking whole numbers for NFs, here).

For RCEs I’ve seen 13h and I’d gather 16h, 18h, etc are possible.

What are your cases worth roughly/what have you seen in other AUs?

Do you wish yours were higher?

I know I do.

Are there advantages/disadvantages to having low or high hour counts?

Affordable gym options

Hi All,

Wondering what my options are for affordable gyms other than Planet Fitness. Are there any gyms that also have a pool that are relatively affordable?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

UPDATE WIBTAH if i did not buy a new dress for my brother's wedding?

I posted here yesterday about my SIL asking me to get a pastel dress 10 days before I’m set to leave for a wedding overseas.

I already paid for and tailored my dress.

She told me her MOH was wearing gold and it would match my champagne and I had to wear pastel to match the rest of the family.

Update is: SIL admitted she was being ridiculous with her last-minute ask and that her MOH doesn’t actually care what color I’m wearing.

i.e., none of this is an issue, and she invented it.

In other news, I became super inflamed with my Crohn’s and spent all morning suffering terrible pain because of the unnecessary stress..

Also, my family thinks she’s trying to control this because she doesn’t have invitations printed in the local language for her July 11 RSVP deadline to the July 25th wedding.

The end 🫠

WIBTAH if i did not buy a new dress for my brother's wedding?

My brother is getting married soon and I bought a dress for his wedding a few months ago.

My sister-in-law asked me about my dress a few months ago and I told her what I was wearing. I got no push-back or anything at all.

Today, three weeks before the wedding, I was told that I need to wear pastel colors to match the rest of people in the pictures.

My sister-in-law told me, "I could have sworn I told you" and "I thought you would hear about it from someone else."

When I told her the color of the dress, she said "my maid of honor is wearing that color and I would really prefer if you just wore pastel."

I simply told her I would not.

My stance is:

  1. I already bought this dress I am not buying another one
  2. I am not in a bridal party
  3. If I was not important enough to have a direct conversation about this with, its not important enough to make a change to my already purchased dress.

WIBTAH if I did not acquiesce and buy a different dress?

Context: I am wearing a gold-champagne shimmery dress that fits me well.
More context: I just purchased a house and spending money needlessly isn't something I want or need to be doing.

EDIT:

Here is an example of the color which is a non-issue. Bride is not upset about the color I chose. Just that it is not pastel which she never told me I had to choose to begin with.

EDIT

Even if she paid for a new dress, I wouldn’t wear it because I went through the trouble of finding my original dress and getting it tailored to my height.
It’s more work and consideration I have to put into something that doesn’t *actually* matter at the end of the day.

And the fact that I was not informed and am being told to comply last minute is the frustrating part.

EDIT

I purchased three other dresses (much cheaper than my original) and will only choose one of those to wear if I like them more than my original.
