As someone that loves the game I hope we get physical version. Do preorders and only print the required copies.
Seems like an easy way to get some funds.
Seems Hi Fi Rush physical version was successful.

Halloween the Game is banned in Australia but not NZ while I am not interested enough in the game it is possible for members of the public to submit it for a fee of $25.50

Retailers then could import and sell it themselves. They wouldn’t be able to get it rated because it would cost them approximately $2000 to get it rated due to having a financial interest in the game:
Unfortunately I would normally double dip to support the development but I can’t support any digital games and will be Waiting for physical copy of Sinking City 2 PS5.
I personally think keeping her character a secret was a mistake. It’s not the Andrew or Toby situation at all. I knew who she was the minute we found out she is in the movie. I think promoting her character would have been more impactful.
Many physical media buyers aren’t buying dozens of discs per year they typically purchase only 2 or 4 premium titles annually on disc, with the rest of their gaming being digital or through PlayStation Plus.
They also invest heavily in hardware, controllers, headsets, and subscriptions.
By eliminating new physical releases in 2028, Sony risks alienating even these moderate physical buyers.
The frustration isn’t just about quantity; it’s about choice. A significant portion of these customers could shift their spending toward PC gaming, where There are better options
And will absolutely have a decline of PlayStation’s console ecosystem, I could see 20% or more leaving.
This backlash is unlikely to fade anytime and will
Continue for the foreseeable future.
. It builds on existing grievances like digital license revocations, high store prices, and the removal of hundreds of purchased movies creating a lasting perception that Sony no longer respects ownership or consumer preferences.
That resentment will carry over to the PS6, especially if it launches without a disc drive. And the PS5 is
My last PlayStation.
Additionally, many gamers deliberately save their physical purchases for big single player experiences they want complete and preserved on disc (avoiding day one patches, always online requirements, or incomplete launches).
Titles like Marvel’s Wolverine are prime examples: I expect it to sell millions of physical copies worldwide
Sony may see digital as more profitable in the short term, but dismissing physical media ignores how it drives loyalty, perceived value, and hardware sales among core fans.
The move will erode the very ecosystem that made PlayStation dominant.
Sony could have easily solved the physical vs. digital revenue gap by simply increasing the price of physical editions. Raise the MSRP so that after manufacturing, distribution, and retailer cuts first party titles generate roughly the same net revenue on disc as they do digitally, and the same for third party games.
a $90 price point for new physical releases would have been perfectly reasonable, especially for premium first party titles. Many would gladly pay it.
At the same time, Sony should have made it mandatory that all single player games ship complete on disc. No day one patches required.
Games not complete on Disc hurt sales as collectors don’t want to buy 007, Halo, Crimson Desert,
Games complete on disc do sell better.
Vinyl is making a comeback and a lot more expensive than streaming or CDs.
Seems like PlayStation's PR deparment is in full damage control and using Propaganda to control the narrative.

They have leverage and influence: First party studios like Insomniac, Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, etc., are Sony’s Crown Jewels. Their games drive hardware sales and brand loyalty.
Sony bears primary responsibility as the platform holder and manufacturer. But studios aren’t powerless employees they’re highly valued partners with resources and direct lines to decision makers. Fans should remind both levels: “No Disc, No Buy.”
It would create internal friction at Sony. Silence or quiet compliance enables the parent company’s decision.
Harassment is still dumb. Intelligent, sustained pressure on studios (alongside Sony) is how you force real internal advocacy.
P.S I love the devs and the games they make.
So both Assassin's Creed Shadows and Black Flag Resynced have complete builds on Disc.
But they require a brief online check in order to Play the disc build.
You have to start the game offline then go online.
I wonder what options would be to bypass this online check, possibly a server emulator or something
I do wonder why Ubisoft is putting full builds on Discs.
I wonder if they plan to roll out a firmware update to the console at the end of life for all there titles on PlayStation.
