ADRO expands its 992.2 GT3 aero lineup to six carbon components

ADRO expands its 992.2 GT3 aero lineup to six carbon components

ADRO has expanded its Porsche 992.2 GT3 aero range to six prepreg carbon pieces, covering a front lip, front fenders, side skirts, a rear apron panel, a rear diffuser and a swan neck wing.

The company says the program was developed as a single system, with the stated goal of adding downforce at minimal drag cost while preserving the factory front to rear balance. The front fenders vent high pressure air out of the wheelarch to reduce front lift and increase flow under the splitter.

ADRO reports CFD results at 112 mph of 1,389N of downforce for the complete kit against 1,145N stock, with drag rising from 1,071N to 1,083N, or about 55 lb of added load for 3 lb of drag.

Toyota's mid-engine "Concept M" is being stress-tested in Super Taikyu ahead of a possible MR2/Celica revival

Toyota has been developing a mid-engine prototype known as the Concept M testbed, and rather than validating it purely on a private track, the company has been running the layout in Japan's Super Taikyu endurance series to stress-test cooling and components under sustained load. The latest track shots show the aggressive front intake and large side cooling ducts you would expect from a mid-engine car.

It is expected to use a new 2.0L turbocharged four codenamed G20E, reportedly targeting 300 to 400-plus hp, with manual and automatic options rumored much like the GR Yaris. Speculation splits between a rear-drive MR2 layout and an all-wheel-drive, rally-inspired Celica. Heavily camouflaged coupes spotted testing in Europe have added to belief that a new Celica shape is being prepared to match updated motorsport rules.

Nothing is locked in on the production side, but with leadership under Akio Toyoda pushing to expand the GR lineup, the revival talk around 2027 or 2028 has real momentum.

NOVITEC dropped Phase One for the Temerario and the NL7 wheels are the standout

NOVITEC just released the first wave of parts for the Lamborghini Temerario. Phase One covers a power-optimized exhaust with flap regulation and sport cats, cat-replacement pipes, stainless tailpipes, and sport springs, plus their newly developed forged NL7 wheel.

The exhaust and cat-replacement pipes are the obvious pick if you want the V8 to actually breathe, but the sport springs cleaning up the stance might be the better value depending on how the car sits from factory. They're calling it Phase One, so there's clearly more coming.

Liberty Walk finally made a widebody kit for the R33 GT-R, capped at 33 units

Kind of surprising it took this long. They'd already done the R32, R35, ER34, and S15, and the R33 was the obvious hole in the lineup. Now there's an LB-Silhouette WORKS GT for the BCNR33.

It's a full FRP conversion, not a bolt-on, and apparently engineered road-legal. Reworked front end, huge flared arches with functional venturi ducting, and the usual towering Silhouette wing out back. Wataru Kato did the design. Production is limited to 33 units, which is a cute nod to the chassis code.

What we find interesting is that the R33 spent years being the "awkward middle child" GT-R and now it's getting the collector treatment as clean examples climb in value.

Do you think this actually reshapes how people see the R33, or is a 33-unit kit too rare to move the needle on the chassis overall?

How do you feel about running front and rear aero as a matched system on the C8 Z06/ZR1? APR just dropped a dedicated program for it

Full disclosure, we're Bulletproof Automotive and an APR dealer, so we've got a foot in this. Posting because we're genuinely interested in where owners land, not to sell anyone anything.

APR Performance just released aero built specifically for the C8 Z06 and ZR1: front airdam, rear diffuser, and rocker extensions engineered to work as one system rather than three pieces bolted on and left to fight each other.

That's the interesting part. The Z06 and ZR1 already leave the factory with a serious aero and cooling package, so adding to them is a different conversation than it is on a base C8. Matched front-and-rear aero done right keeps the balance the engineers built in and extends it. Done piecemeal, you can add drag or shift the car for the sake of a look. We see both approaches come through the shop, and the results are night and day.

So we'll put it to the people who actually drive these hard: how do you feel about aftermarket aero on a car that's already this dialed from the factory? Would you only run a full front-and-rear setup to protect the balance, or are you fine with a single piece purely for the stance? And for anyone already running aero on a C8, how does the car actually behave at speed?

A 2012 R35 that's run 30k miles at 1,081 whp without the engine ever being opened

Deep Blue Pearl DBA Black Edition, bought new in 2012 and built slowly over thirteen years into an OEM+ track car instead of a show build. No wrap, no widebody. Almost every panel is Nordring dry carbon (hood, trunk, skirts, diffuser, fenders, even the badges), made by Challenge Japan, the same shop behind OEM Nismo carbon. There's a real OEM Nismo dry carbon roof under a custom suede headliner cut to expose the weave.

VR38 built by Ivey Technologies, AMS Alpha 10X twin turbos, 9.5:1 compression, forged internals, E85, making 1,081 whp and 837 wtq. Roughly 30,000 miles at that output and the engine hasn't been opened once. Exhaust is a one-off 94mm titanium prototype that came off GReddy's original R35 demo car.

Not everything survived, though. Owner lost 4th and 5th during HPDE sessions even with an Ivey-built box on Albins gears and a Dodson clutch, which lines up with what a lot of you already know about leaning on the GR6.

Times on record so far: a 2:04.03 at Watkins Glen on stock suspension and a 179 mph pass at Pocono.

For anyone running big-power R35s: when did you decide the trans was the weak link, and how did you get ahead of it before it let go?

A 500whp FR-S that lapped Tsukuba with a 458 and an LFA, on street tires

Been meaning to post this one here for a while. It's the Concept One, a build we did starting from a Scion FR-S, and it's still one of our favorites.

The engine is the fun part: the stock 2.0L boxer four with race conrods, overbore pistons, a Powerhouse Amuse High Response turbo kit on an EF-R turbo, and a full titanium R1 Titan exhaust. 500whp on high boost, 400 on low. We left the front-engine rear-drive layout and the 6-speed manual alone because that balance is the whole point.

Rest of it: Varis widebody Spec D, Esprit dry carbon roof, Rays Volk G25s on Toyo R888s, Original Runduce coilovers, six-piston fronts, Cusco 1.5-way LSD, Recaro RS-G seats in a carbon and Alcantara cabin.

The number that still gets people is Tsukuba. Full interior, street tires, street tune, 1'02.2. Same lap as a Ferrari 458 and a Lexus LFA. Detuned to 400whp it still ran a second up on a GT3 RS.

For those who've built on the FR-S/BRZ platform, would you have kept the boxer and boosted it like we did, or swapped for something else at this power level?

Nero SF90 Stradale on satin bronze NOVITEC wheels looking absolutely right

Found this SF90 Stradale and had to share. Nero paint, satin bronze NOVITEC wheels with the factory red calipers peeking through the spokes, 325 rear on 21s sitting flush in the arch. Bronze on black is a classic for a reason and this one's dialed. Carbon fiber aero at the back finishes it off without going overboard.

Something about the warm bronze against the deep black just works better in person than photos give it credit for.

Next-gen Supra renders are making the rounds, and the rumored engine switch is the real story

These have been circulating and figured they were worth a discussion. Quick disclaimer, none of this is official, it's all Best Car reporting plus artist renders.

The gist: the sixth-gen Supra reportedly drops BMW power for a Toyota-built turbo 2.0L hybrid four, somewhere around 400 hp, with talk of it going well past that in higher tune. Separately there's a rumor of a Mazda inline-six in a second prototype.

For me the interesting part isn't the styling, it's whether a four-cylinder can carry a nameplate that's basically synonymous with the inline-six. The B58 has been a monster in the current car, and the 2JZ legacy looms over everything.

488 Challenge Evo on gloss white ANRKY AN17s, factory centerlock kept

It's a 488 Challenge Evo on ANRKY AN17 monoblocks, 21x9.5 front and 22x12.5 rear, gloss white, and they kept the OE centerlock instead of going to a conversion.

The white on a Challenge Evo is a bold call. Half the time a race-derived car like this looks best in something dark and stealthy, but the gloss white actually makes the aero and the concave read more clearly.

The Challenge Evo is a track car at its core. Do you like seeing one dressed up on aftermarket forged wheels, or do you think a Challenge car earns more respect left in its factory race trim?

Built this 1,401 whp Varis Kamikaze-R R35 with a customer years back, Larry Chen ended up shooting it for Speedhunters

Going through the archive. This was Michael's car, one of the first R35s in the US to run the full Varis Kamikaze-R wide-body.

The aero got the attention but the spec underneath is what we're still proud of: Switzer R1K-X Stage II VR38 dyno-proven at 1,401 whp on E85, KW V3 Clubsports with a front lifter, Overtake x Brembo carbon ceramics, Volk TE37 Ultras in a custom Nismo Red. Interior left stock Black Edition, so it genuinely drove like a street car.

It picked up a Speedhunters feature shot by Larry Chen and a DSPORT cover. What still surprises us is the aero holding up a decade later when a lot of that era looks dated now.

Curious what this sub thinks: for a 1,400+ whp R35, would you keep it streetable like this or commit fully to a track build?

Got an R33 400R feature coming together, recap soon

Been putting together a recap on a 400R and figured this crowd would actually appreciate it when it drops.

Still wild to think Nismo planned 100 of these and only 44 ever got built. The RBX-GT2 motor pulled from the Le Mans program, the 400 badge that actually meant what it said, the whole R33-was-the-underdog-until-it-wasn't arc. The 400R is the one that flipped that reputation on its head.

Not posting the full thing yet, just wanted to put it on the radar. Will share when it's ready.

What's everyone's take, is the 400R the definitive R33, or do you still give it to a clean V-spec?

The new Porsche 911 GT4 R puts the 911 badge in GT4 for the first time

For years GT4 meant the mid-engine 718 Cayman GT4, with the 911 sitting a class above. That changes now. The new 911 GT4 R brings a water-cooled 4.0-litre flat-six rated at 520 hp (subject to SRO BoP), a six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox, around 1,515 kg, and an 8,750 rpm redline. First time a privateer can start GT4 in a 911 instead of working up to one. Curious what this crowd makes of a halo model dropping into the entry tier.

British Racing Green F40 on Brixton Forged FR17 Circuit+ (Champagne, 20F/21R)

The F40's shape was timeless the day it left the factory, which leaves a wheel exactly one job: keep up with it. These are Brixton Forged FR17 Circuit+, a motorsport-inspired multi-spoke, finished in Champagne over satin clear with a polished lip, staggered 20 front and 21 rear.

Champagne against British Racing Green can be a tough combination to pull off without it looking busy, and the analog F40 silhouette carries it well.

Curious what this sub thinks of modern forged wheels on a car this significant, since opinions usually run strong either way.

296 GTB came through on forged Novitec x Vossen NF10s, staggered 21/22 on Cup 2s

We had this 296 GTB come in and just wanted to share the results.

It's running a forged Novitec x Vossen NF10 setup, staggered 21-inch front and 22-inch rear, multi-spoke with centerlock-look caps. The forged construction is the part worth talking about. The 296 carries some extra weight from the hybrid system, so cutting rotating and unsprung mass at the corners matters more here than it would on a lighter car, and you notice it in how the front end turns in.

Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. Aggressive for a road car, but with 819 combined hp and the V6 revving to 8,000 rpm, the chassis has the grip and delivery to use them properly.

The car is wrapped in satin Stealth XPEL, so the wheels end up reading pretty loud against a finish that's otherwise trying to stay subtle.

Curious what the sub thinks of the multi-spoke against the satin finish. Does the contrast work for you, or would you have kept the factory wheels on a car wrapped this subtle?

The Sterrato still might be the most fun idea Lamborghini ever signed off on

Came across an Arancio Borealis Sterrato wearing Novitec x Vossen NL5 forged wheels in satin black, and it's funny how the whole thing flips your expectations. Every other Huracán is begging for a smooth apex. This one looks built to go find a dirt road instead.

The satin black NL5s work better here than you'd think too. On a lowered Huracán they'd read as flashy, but against the raised ride height and the rugged stance they actually calm the look down a bit.

Curious where the community lands on the Sterrato in general. Brilliant send-off for the Huracán, or a gimmick that aged into a future collectible?

Urban Automotive's Widetrack carbon kit for the L460

Not trying to sell anyone anything here, just genuinely interested in where this community lands on it.

Urban's whole pitch is "OEM plus," the idea that the best mods look like the factory could have done them. Their Widetrack kit for the L460 is 44 carbon components, with arches that widen the track 26mm per side and 24-inch wheels they developed with Vossen. What stood out to me technically is that they tool and produce all the carbon in-house in the UK rather than sourcing panels from outside suppliers, which in theory solves the panel-gap problems you see on a lot of multi-supplier kits.

Where do you all sit on widebody Rovers? Is "looks factory" the right goal for an SUV like this, or does the L460 already look finished from Solihull and not need it? Curious whether the in-house carbon angle actually changes anyone's opinion of aftermarket body kits or not.

One of only 19 GT-R50s by Italdesign ever built is hitting auction this weekend, serial No. 17

Figured this one belonged here more than anywhere else. The GT-R50 by Italdesign was announced in 2018 for the joint 50th of the GT-R and Italdesign, with a planned run of 50. Only 19 were actually built, so even by limited-production standards these barely exist.

This is serial No. 17. VR38DETT with GT3-spec turbos and NISMO tuning, around 710 hp, roof sitting 54mm lower than a standard R35, full Italdesign coachwork over a GT-R NISMO interior base. It's showing 221 km, so essentially delivery mileage.

Estimate is roughly ¥145 to 155 million. Curious what the owners here think about long-term values on these given how few were made versus the original 50-car plan, and whether the Italdesign body work helps or hurts among GT-R purists.
