We are just handing the future to China..

I've talked about this a lot trying to build awareness/education in these areas.

Our nations focus on Hydrocarbons has taken us down the "resource curse" / "resource trap" trajectory.

This is before we even talk about the issues & costs associated with the climate crisis and overall environmental crisis points.

Carney as a "Progressive" Conservative - Blue Liberal/Red Tory on apparent Corporatocracy/Status Quo steroids has now opened the floodgates around pipelines and military-industrial complex.

Look back to Harper and his spending on the military and then where Carney is now and then the 3.5% and the 5% projections...

I can not say this enough - The problem(s) with the Canadian economy is that we focus TOO HARD on these areas. We do not focus enough on productivity increases, technology focus, research & development/innovation, and very very skilled/very very high-end manufacturing.

When Hydrocarbons are in a glut/low prices those realities have higher economic output/value and that is why for periods we have lagged in the OECD.

Our society is literally being brainwashed to keep doubling/tripling down on what the literal problem is - Just like the realities of what kept leading us deeper and deeper into the Housing Crisis.

THE ELECTRIFICATION TECHNOLOGY ERA PROVIDES US OPPORTUNITIES TO LITERALLY DIVERSIFY AND GET TO THE ROOTS AND IMPROVE OUR ECONOMIC REALITY AND SET US UP FOR THE FUTURE! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZIfqLDG_Qs - A great video talking about various dimensions of this even involving resource extraction.

This whole idea of utilizing MASSIVE amounts of taxpayer dollars for all this nonsense is the icing on the cake.

This is a gift to Oligarchs, Multinational Business Lobbies, Powerful & Predatory Industries/Tycoons, and again the general Corporatocracy.

I'll end with this: The climate crisis and overall environmental crisis is a lot like every other crisis point in this already polycrisis world. It disproportionately impacts the working class and most vulnerable and worsens the already existent affordability of life crisis/quality of life crisis.

I guess we are just going to let establishment interests that profit from the status quo and even problems associated with said status quo run amok.

We are just going to let China control the energy & technology frameworks of the future and be the ones to benefit and enjoy the wealth and prosperity that comes from that - Because one lesson from the Industrial Revolution through the various periods of the Technological Revolution is that you want to be leaders in the future, not followers, and CERTAINLY NOT opponents... History has shown this formula over and over again of powerful empires/blocs getting tied in with establishment interests and refusing to change/transition and then losing out and becoming the lessers of the next generation. Welcome to our reality because of bad predatory actors in our society...

Fossil Fuel Industry Series #2: What is really being held back...

We hear from the right-wing political-media-industry sphere how "Oil & Gas is being so held back!"

This narrative is done at a level of brute-force brainwashing and sadly it has people operating like bots repeating this and similar lines ad nauseam.

Reality in Canada:

In 1990 as a nation we did around 1.7 MILLION barrels every single day.

In 2014 that was around 3.8 MILLION barrels every single day.

Now that sits around 4.6 to 5+ MILLION barrels every single day.

Out of 195 countries we are #4 in oil extraction in the world.

(I have my own issues with Trudeau *Broken promises regarding Electoral Reform and the like* but his administration pumped more Oil & Gas then any before it).

Do you know what was actually held back? RENEWABLE ENERGY!

Rarely is it mentioned that Alberta & Saskatchewan are two of the best places in all of Canada for Solar Power & Wind Power.

Alberta was leading in Renewable Energy for a long time because the conditions are just so amazing for it!

Then Danielle Smith/UCP started rewriting policy...

Now BILLIONS in Renewable Energy projects have halted and died on the vine. *It sure would have been nice to have all those jobs and clean affordable energy.... - Especially with the price of power in Alberta...

Summed up: Canada much like the U.S. has large petrocracy dimensions. There is a whole propaganda machine to misinform the populace on countless points of discussion. Oil & Gas is not what is being held back in Canada - Renewable Energy & Electrification Technology is what is being held back.

Economic growth tackles the population crisis by creating two worse ones — the case for postgrowth

We think we know how to solve the population crisis — end poverty through economic growth and birth rates fall. It has worked every single time it's been tried.

But economic growth solves the population crisis by creating two worse ones. Growth-driven consumption accelerates ecological overshoot, pushing us further beyond planetary boundaries. And the same rise in living standards that reduces birth rates hollows out the demographic base modern economies depend on.

So we're trapped.

Don't end poverty and the population keeps growing.

End it through growth and you get ecological collapse and a pension crisis that could bankrupt nations.

This isn't a policy failure — it's a structural one. And the only way out is through a post growth economy designed to meet human needs within ecological limits rather than expand indefinitely beyond them.

Trumps July 4th Speech....

Trumps speech can be summed up one way - Lowest common denominator style populism (I.e. A mob).

The reactionary/regressive sphere and the "leaders" of it which are stereotypical snake oil salespeople and con-artist grifters have really made an Idiocracy made manifest.

Maybe sadly even more malignant than the Idiocracy of the movie..

This is just sad and depressing to watch.

This petrocracy shit is getting old

We all know Canada is a petrocracy.

We all know the U.S. is the heartland of the Fossil Fuel Industry.

We all know the Oil & Gas Lobby is incredibly linked to right-wing governments across the planet (Reform, AfD, so and so on).

Fuck this death cult. Period.

It's amazing just how much harm they have done, the amount of propaganda they have been allowed to spew, and how much they have held us back from brighter and better.

It looks like Canada due to corruption is going to miss out on participating and benefiting economically from the Electrification Technology Era.

Allowing corruption to hold us back from the next generation of energy & technology is monumentally fucking moronic.

This shit is getting really fucking old already.

Controversial Moderator Post: Nuclear Power & Renewable Energy

A simple request - When discussing Nuclear Power & Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind, and so forth) *Yes I know some definitions include Nuclear Power with Renewable Energy* please be kind to each other.

1. Do not lie about Renewable Energy realities.

2. Do not lie about Nuclear Power realities.

3. DO NOT personally insult someone because they like Nuclear Power or Renewable Energy!

4. https://www.reddit.com/r/ClimateShitposting/ - This is a good subreddit for those just wanting to troll/go to war with each other over Renewable Energy vs Nuclear Power.

That all being said just in general speak to each other in good faith, with respect, with an intentionality of substantive-analytical dialogue that can take us to positive/constructive places for the future being brighter and better via more people becoming aware/informed on nuances involving Climate Science, Renewable Energy, Electrification Technology, and so on.

It's totally okay to discuss the pros and cons but just be genuine and empathetic to each other.

*NO FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY PUSHERS LOL*

International Student Program, Temporary Foreign Worker Program, and Immigration Overall?

Pathways into a nation and immigration overall has become a very heated discussion topic in the last few years.

Here in Canada we have started to see reductions in various pathways into the nation and immigration overall.

We still though have a lot of openings for bad actors to take advantage of.

Bad actors such as slum lords, diploma mill operators, bad employers, bad immigration consultants, and the like.

There have been some posts/comments on Reddit and other online spaces along with general news stories from those that work in these governmental offices that there isn't enough burden of "proof/need" put on the employers, immigration consultants, and the like.

That investigative teams are short-staffed and the budgets are lacking for robust work to be done in this area.

Obviously with reducing the amount of people coming in those problems & abuses become less in scale but the problems with the general frameworks are still there.

Summed Up: Do you think we will see Carney/LPC do the hard work that is needed to re-write our immigration system so that abuse of the system and exploitation of workers is no longer an inherent flaw in the system?

What do you think would help with this process for policy changes?

A renewable energy revolution? | FT Rethink

Short 2-3 minute video that goes over the basics of basics.

Renewable Energy is now 90%+ of new power capacity being added globally.

Electrification Technology is following that same massive growth trajectory.

Even before the war in Iran investment, research & development, and implementation of Renewable Energy/Electrification Technology was exploding. The Iran War has just supercharged this by exposing the vulnerabilities to individuals, organizations, and whole nation-states that come with reliance on Hydrocarbon Energy/Technology.

As a Canadian my hope is we will get a foot in the door for this new Electrification Technology Era! It holds so much wealth and great diversification of our economy!

We need to as a nation focus on productivity increases, technology focus, research & development/innovation, and very very skilled/very very high-end manufacturing.

We do not want to miss out on this. Period.
