A lot of people discount South Florida (ie Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach counties) but can I interject and say the good things it has going for it:

- (the most important to me) Access to recreation and nature - you have three national parks to access, plus preserves (Big Cypress as an example), not to mention countless beaches of varying sizes and amenities (want a small quiet beach? Got it. Want a bustling beach with every possible restaurant and bar accessible? Got it)
- Great for birding and other wildlife
- Beautiful sunrises / sunsets
- Beautiful and modern homes (but you will pay)
- Access to Latin American and Caribbean culture - food, people, etc
- Three major airports, one of which will take you anywhere in the world (MIA)
- Shopping for any budget (a million Goodwills all the way to luxury shopping like Chanel and LV)
- You can take a boat to several islands in the Bahamas
- Love cruising? All major cruise lines depart from Miami, Ft Lauderdale, or Palm Beach
- Want a Caribbean vacation without jumping on a boat or plane? Just drive down to the Keys
- High speed train to Orlando for the amusement parks
- Lots of companies based here, especially Latin American HQs of large multinational companies
- No income tax, and low state tax (7%)
- Love boating? It’s a very popular past time
- Love diving? The keys and Biscayne are right there

If you’re now out of debt and already have a funded emergency fund - how do you derive benefit of YNAB?

I feel like I’m just paying for an app to track my spending - which I used to do just on a Google sheet for free. Granted, the YNAB user interface is definitely sleeker than my Google sheet.

I feel like the CFO of a ~$30K company (my sinking funds) where I track the ins and outs of my categories 😂

Nights: five (four + one free)

Is this a good enough property to burn 196k points?
Are chances good for a suite upgrade (I’m a new ambassador elite)

I have the option to either go to Hong Kong for 37.5 miles or go to Singapore for 109k miles. These are just the jump off cities for my 4 week trip to SE Asia. I will only spend a few days in either one before I head to the mainland Thailand/cambodia/etc

The lower miles Hong Kong flight gets me there early on a Tuesday (departing early Sunday from Dallas). Two legs.

The flight to Singapore gets me there late Sunday evening (departing evening on Friday from the US). This flight is four legs.

The cheaper flight gets me 18 hours less in Asia. Is it worth the sacrifice?

Flying into Singapore early December, leaving out of Bangkok early January. How would you spend your time as a first time traveller from the east coast of the United States (important distinction as it may be a while until I have this much time)

I’m considering doing a few days in Singapore and then a group tour of mainland SE Asia the rest of the time (Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand). Alternatively, I’m considering doing it on my own.

How would you personally do it if you were me?

Is it more fair for the employer to pass on the cost to the family and spouse plans (since more bodies = more costs) or is it more fair to pass the hike tevenly across everyone (thus singles will subsidize for families)

I know it’s a touchy subject so I’m curious to how people feel about it

How hard is it to find a vintage apartment in an obviously older building but without the risk of mice or cockroaches? So far I’ve only lived in a new high rise where this was a non-issue , and it such a peace of mind. I would love to find a cute apartment with character but am terrified of having roommates I didn’t ask for.

Do I just need to avoid the big property owners like Beal or BJB and go with private landlords?

I know that in a lot of roles, you get to work with labor cost forecasting, but has anyone made a transition to a fully HR/Compensation analytical role? If so , how did you get there?

I like to go to fests solo.

- ive done solo camping at electric forest, Bonnaroo, Coachella

- I’ve done hotel stays or Airbnb for Lolla, Gov ball, and ACL ( easy due to proximity of lots of options in Chicago, Queens, Austin)

However I’ve nervous about going solo next year to Outside lands given that it’s SF and it’s so expensive and it’s only me that’s paying

What do other solo fest-goers who are travelling into the city do?? Is it easy to find something semi affordable that is easy to get to the fest - ie close to public transit etc

As road warriors, we’re eating on the road all the time. Anyone else embarrassed by their expense report submissions?

I eat out all 3 meals (plus coffee or snacks), have the occasional McDonald’s or other fast food, and am on the road Monday through Friday so my expense reports are hefty. Not gonna lie, I feel a bit shy about my expense reports. Like they can make judgments about me based on what I eat ☹️
