Saw this in the press release for Wise’s new chequing accounts.

Very informative about how CDIC coverage works in relation to Fintech’s.

Wealthsimple and Wise both fall in to the second category of “the fintech deposits your money in a trust at a member institution and names you as a beneficiary”category, if you wanted to see how CDIC coverage works with them at a more detailed level, including what happens if the fintech or bank fails depending on the category.
