Nausicaä inspires me more than anyone and is the ultimate Ghibli protagonist and a clear inspiration to all the strong female protagonists that came after her (1984 film and 1982-1994 manga)
I love her so much. She's such a fearless badass who is so kind to everyone. Pretty much every trait of the strong female protagonists can be found in Nausicaä. I can see her in Chihiro, Kiki, Sophie, Sheeta, San, Arrietty, Ponyo, Fio, and so on. All those protagonists inspire me, but Nausicaä is who inspires me the most. And she changes the hearts of so many people who become willing to sacrifice themselves to help her. Even her enemies admire her. There is also more emphasis on her defying gender roles (along with Princess Kushana) and many people think she should have been born a man due to her strength and bravery. And it's clear that Miyazaki carried those traits on to new characters after years of writing Nausicaä. She's so inspirational with strength and bravery and a stunning level of kindness that leaves others in awe. The interactions she has with others have the power to change their views of the world.
This is my first time reading Nausicaä and it is so good and so intense.
