So I'm totally new yall.

I am collecting my things. I went to a quilt shop and bought several fat quarters and backing stabilizer and a pen for my small projects, then went into another Quilt & Fabric store that said "Quilting and embroidery supplies.

In I go and I ask if they carry hand embroidery needles.

'No'. they say.

I ask if they carry wooden hoops.

Again, 'no'.

Then they stated that most people use machines and I said, "Do people not do hand quilting anymore?"

One of the women who worked there said 'Oh my gawd' and walked out of the room.

Can someone educate me. What did I say wrong? I guess I'll be buying my hoop and needles online. I'm so confused.

This was a normal family thing with us. My parents came along to the beach numerous times. We enjoyed hanging out with them.

For my own kids, we've all gone to the beach twice now and once to disney. We help out with babies and give the parents a break

But I got to thinking....I love to see my kids and my grands, but I understand adult kids don't 'long' to be around their parents.

Vacation sharing is probably just while it's a convenient baby sitting thing, isn't it?

What's been your experience with this?

Coming from an Outback I'm not super familiar with how the 4runner works. We're picking it up Monday.

when the seats are either up in the back, or folded down, I'm assuming the carpeted fuzzy backs are exposed to our hairy dogs in the back. Is there a rubber attached seat back protector you would recommend?

I was in high school 1973-1978. Me and my friends were pretty innocent, not drinking, or smoking pot (about the only ones, truly) and would only kiss our boyfriends.

Recent late night laughfests with other friends has revealed all the sex that was going on and we had no idea. Turns out that sooo many of our friends WERE having sex and we just had no idea.

No one talked about it (except the boys apparently!). The girls always acted all innocent. But the boys were talking for sure.

So now that we're all grown up, what was happening with you and your friends back then?

We hung out. Went to lunch, couples dinners, visited each other for about 2 years. We live in the same neighbohood.

I took her to lunch for her birthday, then stopped by for a visit and never heard from her again. I was a double-last-to-communicate so the ball is in her court. For whatever reason, she has chosen to not continue contact. We live in the same neighborhood and she also ghosted another friend.

The problem is that I had given her a key to our house, as we travel a lot and wanted someone to have a key in case there was some emergency (did I leave my iron on sort of thing)

it's awkward to knock on her door and say, "Hey, since we no longer talk, can I have my key back?"

I'd rather not do that, but I'd like my key back. Ideas?

Edited to add: She is fine, not dealing with depression. She is very active, plays pickleball, travels. She has chosen to ghost me and another friend for whatever reasons. I'm not concerned that she had had a key, not worried about changing my locks. I just want to get the key back since we no longer hang out and I wouldn't call her to do anything at our house if we had an emergency.

We had 1500 sq ft of zorro zoysia installed May 1, so three months ago. It has thickly rooted, been mowed several times, fertilized a couple of times and watered correctly.

However, there is SO MUCH spurge weed growing. Too much to spot treat.

I know you have to be careful with a young lawn, what do we do?

Again, way too much to spot treat. 1500 sq ft, grow zone 8b so Georgia and warm. We need a plan to deal with this.

My daughter's dog was just dropped off this morning for a recommended annual teeth cleaning, estimated $1600-3500.

I live in a different state My vet practice inspects the teeth and gums and recommends a cleaning if there is tartar buildup or gum issues. We have traditionally only had to do one cleaning per lifetime at age 7-8 years.

However, I am seeing 'at least once a year' cleaning recommended on many vet sites. When did this happen?

And at those prices?

Has this become a pushed recommendation since so many vets have been bought out?

I inherited a bond portfolio from my parents. It's about a 300K value but is sitting at a loss right now due to prices. That's fine, it pays out about $1200 a month of fun money so fine, but still, I'd rather be out of it, but I don't want to take that loss.

I get tender offers and without exception, they are so hard to understand the current payout price. I ignore them but participated in one this summer and didn't realize they pay out at the current price, despite being a make whole bond (again, showing my ignorance).

Nowhere in the mice type, in all the disclosures, was there a simple sentence saying how the pay out price would be calculated.

Is it just me?

I'm on an extended help-with-new-grandbaby adventure and finding some nights I just can't sleep. I tend to rarely but effectively use Lunesta or over the counter sleep aid with Valarian root. What do you use?

Okay yall. this southern gal has now searched hannafords, market basket, walmart and whole foods.

Do folks up north not eat Lima beans, butter beans, black eyed peas, crowder peas, field peas, lady peas, pink eyed peas, Ford hook limas?

I finally found a can of lima beans but only one brand. I was looking for frozen butter beans. I asked the store guy and he hadn't heard of any of these. I knew yall didn't eat boiled peanuts or much fried okra but this surprised me!

Edited to add: Okay, I'm probably surprised at the comments to look in international section, haha. I had no idea lima beans and butter beans and field peas and crowder peas were limited to the southern part of the country. Learned something new! I did find cut, frozen unbreaded okra for fried okra at the latino market. Thanks for all the info and help! I appreciate it. Will definitely try to start with dried next time.

Aside from owning a neighboring ranch, why would Beth and Rip give a rat's patooty about the 10 petal's ranch's doing? Why get involved?

To imply the four of them can take on the mexican cartel is just shark-jumping stupid. When has Beth had combat shooting training? They were going up against machine guns. This was just insulting for viewers.

I'm glad the main writer got fired. This plot is just out of control.

In Montana, they had backup. Her Dad was governor, they had an AG brother, they had Kaycee, they had a ranch full of cowboys. This is just getting silly.

My state has laws about driving in the left lane. Go fast, pass people, then get over.

My spouse isn't a slow driver but speed limit mostly. (actually he mostly drives the speed limit when I'm in the car, especially if we're in a hurry, due to me complaining about him speeding)

He'll get in the left lane, then zone out. I can see the cars piling up behind him.

I'll say things like "There's a car coming up on our bumper" "I see some cars piling up behind us". Always not using the word 'YOU' because he gets triggered and defensive.

How do you handle left lane lucy when it's you and your defensive husband? This happens every time we get on the highway.

We live in a close nearby retirement neighborhood with small 1500 sq ft back yards. I have a territorial english shepherd who, when he goes out for his morning pee (and basically any other time outside), will bark if he sees a neighbor or a walker passing by at the top of the street.

We can't do anything about the visability.

I hate waking up my sleeping, retired neighbors. We're outside with him when this happens and sometimes we can get him to run back inside quickly but is there anything, anything we can do to nip this in the bud.

I'm open to anything that has worked for you. I've never used an e collar and don't want him associating strangers with discomfort as we can now drive thru the drive thrus in silence but I'm open to hearing more if it helped you.

Please offer what heped you.

(edit to add. Our dog is reactive due to a PTSD issue from puppyhood. We have spent thousands on a top trainer, behaviorist (a legit one) and a behaviorist vet. He has a nervous system issue and takes sertraline., HUGE improvements, can do thru drive thru calmly, walk calmly past dogs/people...all great. But the backyard barking can't be helped)

I don't know the year...maybe late 1980s? Charlie Gibson was having fun talking to Tom Cruise and Charlie sorta relaxed and said something along the lines of, "Do you ever look in the mirror in the morning and think man, where did I get that NOSE!" or something like that.

Charlie and Tom both have bigger high bridge noses and when Charlie said that, Tom didn't laugh but just looked awkward.

I know I saw this but no one I know saw it. Did anyone else see this and remember it?

Let's say someone is 65+ and still working so covered under a group plan.

Let's say they currently pay $650 per month for that plan.

They want to compare the cost of possibly switching to plan A & plan B instead in case it's cheaper per month.

BUT, they've heard the company offers retirees a health plan that would include access to a mediare plan either gap or advantage with a yearly health fund to offset costs.

But this information isn't readily available until they actually set the retirement date.

So can they go head and sign up for plan A & B, then retire and once they hear the offered retiree plan with stipend, switch? What if they aren't in a birthday state? Would this be possible?

I've been on an aromatase inhibitor for almost three years and I ache, and I feel so fluffy all over, cellulite and chub. My breasts are gone and I have goldilocks reconstructed size A cups but unfortunately my belly sticks out further than my mounds.

I don't feel pretty or feminine.

At all.

And yesterday two smart aleck 12 year old girls oinked at me as I walked past.

Yeah, that really didn't help.

I"m not huge. I'm a size ten. But it's a tight ten and I feel ugly and now people are oinking at me.

What's a good way to feel good about myself? How do you feel better about your looks?

I was walking into Sephora today and there were two middle school aged girls behind me. As I turned to go into the store, one of the girls oinked at me. They laughed.

Why did this bother me?

I guess because years ago I used to get whistled at, and now that I'm in cancer treatment and post menopause, weight has come on and I have never felt so unpretty in my life. My breasts were removed, I've put on 20 pounds.

And now...to get oinked at? I guess it shouldn't have bothered me. But it did.

For years we've built our chase rewards using reserve, preferred and freedom.

My balance is about 750K.

We're retired and plan to one day take a big trip and we held onto the points for a transfer for business class. But right now new grand babies and some operations have put that off.

But I worry about programs ending or somehow the points losing value. Right now we mostly use AMX and Delta while flying about once a month.

Are my points safe? Is there some massive bonus I could transfer into for them to sit with another partner? I appreciate any advice.
