"I'm going shopping." "Do you want me to come with you?"

I mean, clearly, the answer is "No. No, I do not, actually."

But how does one say that without him hearing "I don't want to be with you."

He hates shopping.

Why do men do this?

Then in the store, he finds one t-shirt then starts following me around the store. Which puts pressure on me to finish up and I leave way earlier than I wanted. Money's not an issue.

What IS this? Is it just me??

Did I just get patted on the head by the service manager?

Twice this week when I started my 2026 TSE, the mirrors folded IN as soon as I cranked it.

Both hands on the steering wheel, not anywhere near the door button. In fact, I don't know anything about that button nor have I touched it. (until the service mgr showed it to me)

I'm still learning the car and haven't done anything to the mirrors other than set the mirrors once when I drove away from the dealer 2 weeks ago. I never lay my arm on the driver's door rest.

I explained to the dealer how the mirrors folded IN when I cranked it and he said that either A. I had pushed the button (I explained I never touch the door rest and didn't know the button was there. Both hands are on the steering immediately.)

or B. "Didn't I know the mirrors were suppose to fold in when the car was cranked?"

"But that would be counter-intuitive" says me.

He sent me on my way.

What am I missing here?

He literally emphasized that the mirrors are set up to fold IN when the car starts. First, that makes zero sense. Second, I've had the car two weeks and they don't do that. Just the two times.

Weaklings Need Not Apply When Changing The Battery!

I love love love my three classic timex watches! Lately, I've noticed what a pain it is to look around a room and try to find a clock, or pull out my phone and click the side to see the time.

It was time for these beauties to come out from the jewelry box! However they all needed batteries!

We opened the backs, changed out the battery and commenced trying to snap it back in place.

Pushing! Squeezing, Focused pressure. Pushed using a tool.

We FINALLY got the backs on using a rolling pin and INTENSE man strength to get them closed. He said "I"m not doing that again, I think I hurt my shoulder"

The rolling pin works but good lord. Share your tricks please!

We Lost Everything in Our Upright Freezer

We had an upright whirlpool freezer probably 20-25 years old.

Every couple of years it would ice up and we'd have to catch it and take care of things.

It stays in our garage.

Has this issue improved? Aside from vaccuming coils for frigs and freezers, is this just something you have to deal with?

What brand is going to fare best as a garage freezer? I hope things have improved over the past 20 years. Looking to buy one this weekend that has a reputation for not icing up so badly. Thank you!

I wanted to note my shopping experience with the Honda passport. I hope you enjoy this read and maybe are entertained. yes, it's long, but so was the experience.

It started with an anniversary dinner in downtown. Cars were blowing by me as I hummed along in my four-cylinder subaru. It was my sixth subaru and I'd moved from the outback to the forester wilderness. We have a home off-road on a mountain so it was needed and not just for looks. "Hi, everyone, look at my cool bucky beaver tractor tread wheels and no I'm not a lesbian. Beep-beep!"

That night, I asked my gear-headish son what cars he would recommend. "I know I'm on a one-way path to that tan buick we all end up driving, but in the meantime, what would be fun, sporty, sexy and actually have some punch?"

He suggested the Toyota Land Cruiser, Four-runner, and a few others. I came home, started watching off road comparison videos: Subaru outback wilderness vs Land Cruiser vs four runner. It was late, and I found myself justifying the $70K price cause man oh man, that blue and white land cruiser looked good!

I joined a LC forum and reddit group, started poking around, then went to bed. During the night, my good and practical senses took over and I just couldn't spend that much on a car. "Just do it," my husband insisted.

But I know him, and when I buy something pricey, he smirks and buys a new gun or ATV or some other giant purchase to balance things out.

That's when I found the Honda Passport Trailsport. It was sporty, off-roady, sexy and much less expensive and with 100 more HP than my previous subaru.

Joined a passport forum, a reddit, started watching the car & driver videos. Educate, learn, make excel charts, fill out dealer requests, costco auto services. I was all in.

Due to travel, (and my willingness to fly and drive a car home) I was talking to dealers in the NE, VA, GA, TN, NC, KY.

Or...should I say I was trying to talk to dealers.

I'd fill out a request, we'd text. I'd say, "Hi, I'm a serious buyer, ready to buy. I want a 2026 TSE with no dealer add ons and a great price. Get back to me and let's talk. I'm ready to buy" Or something like that.

The costco discount was $1795 at one dealer. Another dealer just said he didn't have the color, goodbye.

We went local and test drove and I compared the ash green to the sonic grey. Dickered with the local dealer. They made an offer but had $2K in add ons. The offer was still decent but I wanted more off.

They would't make a counter offer after I said it was too high.

My phone started blowing up with dealers. We had the first conversation and they would say, "Ok, let me put some numbers together for you and I'll get back with you." Then crickets.

Finally, I decided to bypass my bias against my big city dealers (high prices) and reach out to one about one hour away.

I texted my spiel. Surprisingly they wanted to talk numbers and we came to 49,150, plus 3600 tax and fees and no charge for their add ons (window tint, sonic grey, protection package) so, OTD 53,700.

I spent hours going over 'what did you spend' threads and felt for my area, I was good with this offer.

I called another local dealer to see if they could match or beat the offer. And this is exactly what they said"
"I know that dealership and know people there and that is a bait and switch. They aren't going to sell you that car for that price. There are only five cars in that color in the state and that's too low of an OTD price. If it IS a legit offer, it's not just a good offer, it's a great offer. But they AREN'T selling you that car for 49,150 plus tax and doc.

So I texted the good offer dealer again and asked if they were guaranteeing the offer. They emailed it to me. I told them I didn't have a way to get there. They offered to send a lyft. Okay, I guess we're doing this.

I showed up and from the moment I walked in, I was treated like a special guest. "Here, have crackers, snacks! Here choose a gift! We want you to meet the manager! Come meet the sales team! (everybody clapped, I was so embarrassed, ha)

The car was washed, full of gas, had 10 miles. I drove it, punched it, walked around it checking for dead bugs or a scratch.

It was perfect.

"So, when are you going to upcharge me or try to sell an extended warranty?" My sales gal just shrugged her shoulders and said, she wasn't.

But they WERE giving me a life time power train warranty. (no requirement to use their dealership for maintenance, just keep records and let a dealer inspect it once every seven years)

I cautiously started signing papers, eating my snacks, and moved to the man who set me up with Honda link. Then to the financials.

HERE was the bait and switch, I bet!

And the other dealer was right!! They didn't sell me the honda passport trailsport elite in sonic grey for the price they offered. It was one penny less!

So I signed and handed them a check and drove away with my beautiful new car.

Yes, the other dealer did reach out to see if they really did sell it for that low price and I told him, nope, it was one penny less!

Maybe it's just me, but I can't find window stickers online anymore. Not on the dealer website, not on auto trader. Used to be, there was a link and it was easy to see.

Any reason they wouldn't want us seeing the window sticker? I asked to see it prior to finalizing a deal (dealing via phone and text) and the dealer had seriously upcharged packages to the point of being comic relief. But they also discounted the heaviest and removed the cost of the dealer add ons.

I even had one dealer work a deal on one car by phone and email, then when I showed up to sign the papers, they had switched the car! Of course they didn't get away with it but still.

Always gotta double check the VIN and seeing the window sticker is important!!

On my flight yesterday, I was in comfort and being offered the nicer snacks. Pistachios and gummies is always my choice.

However, I aksed about the new wifi-connected option of a premium snack offer I had gotten.

The FA said I had to show the offer on my phone. So I commenced trying to bring it up.

For easily 10 minutes, I clicked on every link in the delta app where my offer was apparently hiding.

Only once did it pop up, but the connection dropped and it couldn't be found again.

The connection continued to drop and my dream of eating pringles died a slow death. I had to laugh at the ridiculousness of the whole thing, getting pringles for connecting to delta wifi which wouldn't stay connected in order to show the snack offer.

Included is the idea that pringles are somehow premium. But yeah, never worked so hard for some pringles.

Can yall help me on this? I want to get seat back protectors for when I buy the TSE. However, not sure who to order from. The dealer I'm working my deal with claims they are over $400. I find that hard to believe. When I look online they're less than $100. Maybe I"m looking incorrectly? Or they're just stupid upcharging.

Is there a place I can get the honda part number? Sorry for the elementary question. I appreciate yall.

I'm looking for a TS elite in a certain color.

I found it at a local dealer who is notorious for putting $2K in upgrades they won't take it off. So many people I know huff and puff about them.

I test drove, my first test drive of the model, and told the sales person and manager I wanted their best price etc.

They got back but since all that added stuff jacked up the price, it was still 1-2K over what I'd really like to pay.

And I said that to the guys and they just said, nope, we're losing money as it is, and then just didn't make a counter offer and that was that.

Do they typically make a counter? After looking around, the offer was definitely within $1K of a good price. What's my move now?

Five Subaru Outback, one Forester Wilderness later, I'm bored. I'm ready for more horsepower and more fun. It's scary a bit since I've been in a Subaru for the last many years, but I'm bored.

The Land Cruiser caught my eye but too pricey.

The 4-Runner Caught my eye but too cramped and trucky.

So like Goldilocks, I spied the passport trailsport and it feels just right!

We have a mountain house offroad on a hill and need AWD and have two big dogs so it looks perfect!

Here's my questions.

In the ATL area, lots of dealers are adding $2-3K worth of crapola I don't want. Do you call and make sure that isn't their M.O. and proceed? Any chance I can get the price down $2-4K? Is elite something I really need? And last, is the blackout just black wheels and labels?

Help me find what is probably gonna be my final fun car. I want:

Suv

Safe

room for two dogs and hauling in the back

Horsepower

heated seats and plenty of cup holders

I want fun, sporty, not the typical mom car. I was lusting over the land cruiser but that's a budget busters.

I'd like to keep it under 50K. And we actually have a mountain house on a steep rocky road so it has to be all wheel drive.

Whatcha got? (I watch too many muscle car vids and I'm so over the 4 cylinder subaru). The cars are so boring right now. Help a gal out, thank yoiu!
