Using the new community watchface designer for Watch 2 and 3 Pro, I remade a few of my favorite classic Braun watches with adobe illustrator, no AI!
All include matching AOD faces too.

Braun; reborn as a smartwatch

Some of you may know the company 'CMF by NOTHING.'
They're not particularly notable (to me), but I bought one of their basic smartwatches because it is cheap and pretty looking.

A community project recently released a custom watchface designer, so I fired up Illustrator and recreated a few of my favorite Braun designs, now for the digital era.

Impossible to open screen

I would hope that I could open my iPhone 13 mini using the open tool kit included with my iFixit purchase, but no luck.

I set the phone facedown on my 3d printer’s bed for 1 minute at 70 degrees Celsius. Even with the phone burning me to the touch, I cannot get the screen to accept a razor blade .

Penelope screws are out. SIM card is out.

WTF!

Recommend a car for an impossible client

$40K-$60K USD

Alright folks, my father's 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LTZ is finally having more than two things break at once, and it's time for a new car.

Heres the thing, this gentlemen is disabled, and the top priority over all is comfort (well price is probably a tad higher). He has some pretty niche requirements that have made car-shopping very difficult.

  1. Ground clearance. Around 8" or similar to his Trailblazer.
  2. A minimal "door-lip," or the bottom section of the chassis cutout where the door sits. Optimally this should be as close to the floor as possible so his feet don't get caught when swinging the legs in.
  3. Heated seat back. Now get this, his Trailblazer can control either full seat heating at three levels OR ONLY THE BACK heating. As far as I can find, all modern car offerings have cut this feature.
  4. Power folding mirrors. Again seems oddly hard to find.
  5. Tactility.

Other Notes:
Preferably a plug-in hybrid or electric. Long story but he has built up a few years worth of free home electricity credit, and only drives a handfull of miles per day. Charging at home via 110v is the idea.

Current Interests:
- Rivian R2
- Kia EV9
- Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (or gas)
- Ford Maverick
- Chevrolet Blazer EV
- Chevrolet Equinox EV
- Honda Prologue

Things to do with a non-polarized display?

Out of interest I tore down an older Dell LCD computer monitor, and managed to extract the display panel from it's backlight and housing without shattering it. The panel was very opaque to I decided to peel off a film on either side of the display. These we're the polarizers (duh). The display still works, but now the image is no longer visible.

I had an idea in mind for a gallery artwork which sees the transparent display panel floating mid-air.
Could I buy replacement polarizing film to fix this screen? Or is there some other method I could use to make it visible again without polarization?

What about OLED display tech. I believe it can actually block visible light without polarization.
Where to buy a cheap OLED for tinkering though, I don't know.

The Laptop 13 screen has spoiled me

I use my Laptop 13 docked with an external monitor, and boy, has it kinda ruined the look of all of them. Gone through three monitors with none of them living up to the brightness or color accuracy of the Framework. And this is pretty important as I am a photographer.

My fellow desktop users, could you recommend me your monitors?
Primary goal is color accuracy, then contrast ratio, then maybe viewing angles.

Around 27" 1440P 60Hz is my sweet spot, I use a RTX 3070 eGPU.

Carrier locked (same carrier)

Switching my dad’s XR from Mint Mobile (T-Mobile MVNO) to Ultra Mobile (T-Mobile MVNO).

Phone says no. Called Ultra support, gave them my IMEI and they said it should work. They were confused and then said to just use a different phone :)

The phone doesn’t even say what carrier it’s locked to. Why did it work with Mint and not Ultra (both T-Mobile)??

What’s the next step im stuck.

See photos: https://imgur.com/a/6M1oe7C

Edit: important info, with Mint we used physical SIM cards, this is our first attempt using eSIM. How do I find out if eSIM is disabled on this XR?

Awin - Clicks on a non-public link?

Just started today, already up to 84 clicks which I found odd, the only place the link is posted so far is one Instagram story with 54 views.

Then I see that my original link with the ref "Insta" has registered 38 clicks.
The thing is, I never published that link anywhere publicly on the internet.
Only the link with an empty ref box above it was published.

How?

[NEW GEAR] Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM

Hello fellow Canon shooters, I am here today to share my very normal street photography setup. I hope you enjoy.

This lens is great, used prices are a bit overinflated, but still worth every penny in my book.
Only complaints are the relatively slow AF speed, and that the aperture can only go down to f/16. Not great for outdoor flash photography.

Bad A/C compressor making engine stall?

2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LTZ - Inline 6 Cylinder.
Little over 100K miles.

My father's car.
His battery died and was replaced, which birthed two issues.
First his duel climate control zones broke, driver was cold, shotgun was hot.
I fixed this by resetting some fuses.

MAIN ISSUE: Turning on AC at idle causes the engine to drop RPM and die.
When revved up to about 1,000RPM or so, and then the AC is engaged, the system works stable. Engine stall only happens at low RPM (idle).

I can see the AC compressor turn on, spin a few times, and then turn off, the RPMs drop and usually the engine cannot recover.

Thought maybe the throttle body was the issue, not enough air into the engine to compensate for the extra load at idle. I took the airbox off and cleaned the throttle body, at the same time I unhooked the battery and waited, reattaching it so the regulator can re-learn idle.

No luck. Still dies. This is either a bad AC compressor, or a bad throttle body. I'm out of troubleshooting steps so that's why I'm here. Any help?
