Did seeing this on the Nintendo Switch Online app inspire anyone else to go play any of those titles?

It’s been a while since I last played through Blazing Sword, but when I saw this, it gave me just the motivation to play it that I had been looking for.

Since it looks like we're all taking turns using Moose's account to introduce ourselves, here's my introduction.

'Sup? My name's Bangs Todaro, and I'm a Rich Person of Note. Or at least, I'm trying to prove to everyone that I am with my Inkbrush Nouveau as a member of the Tacklers. But for most of my life, that's been easier said than done.

I was born into a rich family, with my Dad being a former pro football player and my Mom being a gear designer for Rockenberg. Unfortunately, they're usually more focused on my two older siblings than they are on me. The first one is my brother, Inkzekiel. Maybe you've heard of him? He's the leader of the Turf War team that calls themselves the Shady Players. They've won nearly every Splatfest they've competed in, and usually rank pretty high in X Battles. Meanwhile, my sister, Splashley, is a famous artist who graduated from Inkblot Art Academy with top marks. She's made a lot of art pieces that have been put in museums or auctioned off for a carp ton of cash. And me, well... The most notable awards I have in my name are participation awards for sports teams I competed in.

As you can see, Zeke and Splash cast a huge shadow over me, and when Mom and Dad talk about how great their children are, they always talk more about those two and their achievements than they do about me. I've tried everything I can to prove that I can be as great and successful as them, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't do anything that could top what they've done. Heck, when I started fighting in Turf War, everyone compared me to Zeke and hoped that I'd be as good as him, but despite all the effort I put into my battling, they just weren't satisfied with my performance, so I never really stayed with any of those teams for very long. Until one day, I finally found the kind of team I was hoping I'd find.

I knew all about the Sports Fanatics, but I never imagined I'd meet up with them of all Inklings while I was looking for a new team to join. But that wasn't anywhere near as surprising as when they told me Grand Slam had quit, and they needed a fourth member for battles. Opportunities like this don't just happen, so of course I said yes. Unlike those other teams I had been a part of, Tack and his guys were impressed with me, and when we weren't battling, we spent plenty of time bonding, where we learned that we weren't all that different. The Sports Fanatics wanted to to prove that they were still a top team, and I wanted to prove that I can be just as successful as Zeke and Splash. I guess that's what gave me hope that they'd let me stay with them. Sure enough, when I went to the lobby the next day, Tack offered me a chance to officially join the team, and ever since that day, I've been a proud member of his team, which has changed a lot since then, between him renaming it to the Tacklers and Moose joining up with us. I still haven't made as much progress with the whole proving how good I am thing as I hoped I would, but as long as I'm part of a team with friends as good as them, I just know that anything is possible.

And there you go. Me in a nutshell. Guess this means you'll be seeing my main gal pal Uni's introduction tomorrow.

My pal Moose told me he introduced himself to all of you over here yesterday, so he let me borrow his account so I could do the same.

Hey, everybody. The name's Tack Rossia, and I'm a Sporty Pack Leader. As my title implies, I lead a team of Inklings called the Tacklers, and I do so in battle with my trusty Splattershot. But let me tell you, my journey to where I am now was very long and full of hardships.

Me and my little sister Uni lost our parents when we were young, so we were taken in by a couple who were close friends of our parents. They also had a son named B-Ball, who I became really close with. We were like brothers the two of us, and he even taught me everything I needed to know about fighting in Turf War and all the different Ranked Modes. One day, after my 14th birthday, he introduced me to the other members of his team: the Sport Fanatics, whose names were Grand Slam and Striker, and offered me the chance to join them. I accepted his offer, of course, and from there, I made it my mission to prove my worth to the team. Sure enough, my performance was enough to convince B-Ball that he made the right choice in making me a member of his team. After that, we went on to rack up all kinds of wins on the Turf War and Ranked Mode scenes, and even won quite a few Splatfests as well.

Then, one day, after the end of the Callie vs. Marie Splatfest, B-Ball announced to us that he was stepping down as leader of the Sports Fanatics so he could spend more time with his girlfriend and named me the new leader of the team. It was a surprising turn of events to say the least, but I didn't want to let him or my teammates down, so I promised to do everything in my power to be as good a leader as he was. Since his departure left us one Inkling down, I decided to invite Uni, who was in between Turf War teams at the time, to join us, and began playing my role as team leader in earnest. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, we just weren't as good as we were when B-Ball led us. We didn't win as often as we used to, and we just couldn't seem to get our rank high enough in Ranked Mode. I tried to encourage the others and assure them it was only a slump, but whenever our luck did turn around, it didn't stay that way for very long.

By the time we decided to make our move to Inkopolis Square, Grand Slam had enough of my leadership and quit the team, and later went on to start his own team: the Home Run Homies. Looking back on it, Slam always did seem a bit jealous that I got selected as the new team leader over him, so I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised when he told me he was through. After that, it was just me, Uni, and Striker. We managed to compete in battles by letting other Inklings who weren't part of any teams compete with us, but they usually didn't stick with us longer than a day. Then, one day, we met an Inkling named Bangs, the younger sister of Turf War superstar Inkzekiel Todaro. We really hit it off, and when we went to battle, she proved herself to be a valuable asset to our team. Like the other Inklings who had served as fourth members of our team, I didn't expect to see her again the next day, but sure enough, there she was at the Lobby, ready and willing to battle alongside us once again. Since she seemed so eager to battle with us, I offered her a permanent spot on the team, and she didn't waste any time in accepting it. With her induction, the Sports Fanatics (which I later renamed the Tacklers, since there weren't as many sporty members on it as there was before) were whole once again, and although we couldn't quite get back to the level we were on before, we still proved ourselves to be a formidable team on the battlefield.

A few years later, when we were getting ready to make the move to Splatsville, Striker told us that he was stepping away from Turf War competition so he could pursue other goals, and once again, we were one Tackler down. When we got there, we tried to find a new fourth member for our team, but it wasn't as easy as it had been back in the Square, and there wasn't anyone who was as interested in joining us as Bangs had been. Then, one day, we met a newcomer to the Splatlands named Moose. If you read his post from yesterday, then you probably already know what happened. We let him battle with us for the day and invited him to join our team because we had so much fun together, blah blah blah blah. I won't waste my time saying stuff you probably already know. But what I will say is that he's proven himself to be a trusty, stalwart member of our team, and we couldn't be happier to have him with us.

We're still not quite on the same level we were way back when, and sadly, we have more losses than we do wins in Splatfests. Meanwhile, Grand Slam and the Home Run Homies are pretty much at the top of everything. But I just know that someway, somehow, we'll get back on top, and everyone will see that the Tacklers are just as good as we were back when we were the Sports Fanatics.

So, that's my story for you. Sorry if it was a little long. I think Moose said he was gonna see about letting Uni and Bangs have turns at introducing themselves over here too, so be on the lookout for their posts.

It occurred to me that I never properly introduced myself over here, so here I am now.

My name's Moose, and I'm a Splatling-Using Voice Actor. I fight in battles as a member of a team called the Tacklers using my trusty Heavy Edit Splatling. However, I didn't actually start my Turf War career until much later in my life than most other Inklings and Octolings did.

You see, when I turned 14, I wanted more than anything to fight in Turf War with all the other Inklings, but my parents wouldn't let me because they didn't think that kind of environment was very good for me. So, all I could at the time was watch other Inklings fight in battles online and listen to my friends tell stories about their matches. But it just wasn't the same as actually being part of the action. A couple of years later, when the turf war scene moved to Inkopolis Square, I thought maybe I could convince my Mom and Dad to let me get in on the action there since I was two years older, but they wouldn't let me because they didn't want to travel that far away for something like that. So, once again, I had no choice but to watch other Inklings (and, as of later that year, Octolings) fight in battles.

But I never gave up hope that one day I'd get my chance to fight in a Turf War, and sure enough, five years later, I got my chance. I had turned 21 and decided it was time for me to leave home and make a name for myself. After working a lot of part-time jobs and saving up the money I got from them, I managed to make enough dough to afford a train ticket to Splatsville, as the Turf War scene had shifted there by that point in time. Upon arrival, I made my way to the lobby to get started. While waiting to join a team, I met three other Inklings who looked like they were down a player. Their names were Tack, the leader of the group, his younger sister Uni, and their close friend Bangs. They noticed that I didn't have anyone to battle alongside and offered me a spot on their team. Naturally, I said yes, and before long, we were out there splatting butt and taking names. We won some battles and lost others, but at the end of the day, we all had a good time together. So much so that Tack offered me a permanent spot on the Tacklers. I didn't hesitate to accept his offer, and I've been a proud member of that team ever since.

We have since moved to Inkopolis Square after acquiring rail passes, and currently live together in an apartment in Flounder Heights. A lot has happened since then, like me discovering that I enjoy wearing high heels after I managed to get my hands on a pair of World Tour Heels. I was afraid my teammates would think I was weird for wanting to wear shoes like those. But, to my relief, they all were cool with it and accepted my newfound fashion taste. They're just great friends like that. The greatest friends I could ask for, in fact.

Well, there you have it. That's pretty much my story.

TIL that there are Wikipedia pages for certain Mario Kart courses.

I mean, I knew Mario Kart had some famous courses, but I didn't think any of them were Wikipedia page famous.

u/Grand_Moose2024 — 6 days ago

Can one say that they're really a fan of a certain course if they've never played the game it originated from?

This is a question that's been floating around in my head for quite some time. You see, there are a few tracks from Double Dash that I enjoy racing on in games where they appear as retro courses, such as Mushroom Bridge in Mario Kart DS and Daisy Cruiser in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but I've only ever actually played Double Dash once, and that was a really long time ago. While I really enjoy racing on those courses, it feels kind of wrong to consider them to be among my favorites in the series when I can hardly even remember playing their game of origin. Maybe I'm overthinking this a little bit, but then again, I'm just not sure. What about the rest of you? Do you think it's okay to call certain tracks your favorite even if you haven't played the games they originally came from before (or in my case, can't remember when you did play them). I'd like to know what everyone's stances on this matter are.

Is anyone else disappointed that Double Dash isn't the next game that's being added to NSO?

Title. I get that it wasn't released as part of the collection initially because of World, but it's been over a year since that game was released. I was really hoping it would finally make its debut on the Switch 2 now after all that time, but instead, we're getting Super Mario Sunshine. This feels like such a letdown after several months of waiting for a GameCube collection announcement. I don't suppose anyone else here feels the same way?

When Death offers up his power to Dracula in PoR, do interpret it as him attempting to empower a defeated Dracula, or him getting defeated and letting Dracula use his remaining power?

What would be good names for the three Inkling variants in Smash that don't have nicknames?

The other variants all have names after the Inklings they're inspired by (Kaori, John, Agent 3, Laura, and Rui), but these three don't seem to have any kind of names, official or unofficial, anywhere. So, I thought maybe I'd see what kind of ideas for names other fans can come up for these three Smash squids.

u/Grand_Moose2024 — 21 days ago

Something strange happened when I was playing Mario Kart DS earlier.

For some reason, at the end of every race, I was the only one who earned any points. And I only scored one point for each win I got. Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else?

Do you think we'll ever get a Nintendo Switch 2 port of City of the Wolves?

Title. I don't get why something like that hasn't even been announced yet. It doesn't look like it'd be that difficult to port to the Switch 2. I've been itching to play this game ever since some of the more recent announcements for it, but it's only available for platforms I don't own. I really hope it comes to the Switch 2 soon and changes that.

Is there a way to save stories on FanFiction.net after the original documents have expired?

I've been writing stories on FanFiction.net since 2019, and even though I've been sort of on and off the site in recent times due to other things going on in my life, I still make it a point to try and write something new on the site whenever a good enough idea pops into my head. I've written over a hundred stories there, and for the most part, I'm very proud of the ideas I've been able to bring to life. However, the site's become a playground for AI-using scammers in recent times, and it feels like my stories are only ever getting read, favorited, and reviewed by those fakers. And on top of that, there are various bugs and glitches there, like the documents not uploading right away and me not being able to see any of my traffic stats. As much as I hate to admit it, the site may be a lost cause.

I'm kind of reluctant to leave FanFiction after all the years I've spent unleashing my imagination there, but at the same time, I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's time to accept reality and get off that sinking ship. I was thinking about making the move to Archive of Our Own, since I've heard a few good things about that site, but I don't want to leave some of my other stories, especially the ones I'm most proud of, on FanFiction with all those scammer freaks. I thought maybe I'd try and transfer them to that site somehow, but there's a little problem I ran into with that idea. A vast majority of those stories are ones with documents that were removed once their 365 day lives ran out, and because I used Copy-N-Paste to write them, I don't have any actual documents of them saved anywhere else on my laptop. I tried copying the text from my stories straight off the site, but for some reason, it won't let me do that. As you can see, this is kind of a problem for me, and I could really use some help solving it.

Is there a good way to copy or save text from stories off of FanFiction post-doc removal so I can save them somewhere else and publish them again on AO3? If I'm going to move to a new website, then I want to bring some of my best works from FanFiction with me so that readers can get a good enough taste of what I'm capable of. If anyone has any information that may be useful for this, please share it down in the comments.

How do you get this banner?

Is this part of a past limited time even in the game, or is it something that can be earned/claimed currently? I’m curious because Yujirou’s reveal for Tekken 8 has gotten me somewhat interested in the Baki series, and I think it’d be kind of cool to have an item related to it in Street Fighter 6.

Why do some of you in the Square still have Splatfest-colored ink and are wearing your Splatfest tees? Don’t you know the Splatfest’s over?

Mom’s a big fan of the Caramel deLites Girl Scout cookies, so she bought the Aldi version of them for everyone to try.

I didn’t think they were too bad. If nothing else, they’re a sufficient substitute for the Caramel deLites when it’s not Girl Scout cookie season.

Do you think an enemy/boss based on the 50 Foot Woman would work well in a Castlevania game?

Title. Since a lot of enemies and bosses in the series sometimes draw inspiration from horror films, the idea of one based on Nancy Archer sounded kind of interesting to me.

How often do you accept friend requests from other Splatoon 3 players?

Title. I get a few requests from other players every now and then, but I’ve never really accepted any of them. I was just curious to hear if anyone else ever accepts these kinds of requests.

Is anyone else hoping for an animated Kenshiro trailer like what we got for some of the other DLC characters?

We got some animated promotional material that teased characters like Krauser and Mr. Karate before their release, just like we got for Kenshiro, and then, shortly after those characters dropped, we were treated to animated shorts that primarily focused on them, and even featured footage from those teasers. I think a short like that featuring Kenshiro would be pretty neat, considering how badass his animated teasers were, and it would be nice to see the whole story of what happened in them, but almost a week after Kenshiro's release, we haven't gotten anything of the sort. You think there's still hope for something like that? I'd like to think there is, because an animated Kenshiro trailer is too good to let go to waste.
