I know it was a long time ago now but I never warmed to the purpose-built village. Preferred the real town they used to film in

The purpose built set never felt realistic to me. Too small for one thing. Not really a village. Just a road with a couple of buildings on either side

In the backstory, was the row of houses (No 1, 3, and 5) longer but some of it got demolished? (Where the carlot is now) I'm talking about before the show began, in the backstory

In the beginning of the show there used to be large wooden beams supporting the side of that terrace as if part of it had been demolished. They are long gone now. Also, the square is noticeably missing numbers eg No 7, no 9 etc. Has this ever been mentioned?

The scene transition music in the first few seasons

Is so laid back and blues-y. I love the vibe of it. The later years it's more upbeat and poppy, I still like it, but the early music was such a vibe.

I genuinely find it entertaining how people liking this guy annoys some people

There are people who just can't handle that Riley isn't universally hated. They really want him to be, and it winds them up so much that a lot of people either like him, find him "meh", or don't care.

It must be exhausting for them 😂

I mean, there are characters I don't like. But when I see people posting love for them, I just scroll on by. I can't imagine being that triggered every time I see someone not hating them. Does it amuse anyone else? It makes me chuckle.

Monica's apartment and grandmother quick question

Quick question, was the grandmother who died in an early season, the one who's apartment Monica lives in? During Monica's wedding it is mentioned that Monica's dad's mother is still alive, so I wondered if it was her apartment and she was letting them stay there.

If it was her mother's mother, the one who died early in the show, is it mentioned in that episode that the apartment is/was her's?

The mysteries of Viaduct Street

The area has been used a little more in recent years than it was for most of the 90s and 2000s (completely ignored), but there is still so much we don't know.

Has it now been established in the canon that the street is a dead end? It used to be implied that the street carried on for a distance.

Why was the archway at the end of Coronation Street filled in? For years it was an open arch (Dierdre even got attacked walking through it) then suddenly it was filled in with no on-screen mention. The so-called "Turner's Joinery" apparently lay within for years, but we never saw it open. Who was Turner? Was it ever mentioned? Why did nobody ever use it?

It was so strange that this was the centrepiece of the set, looming over the street. Nobody would draw a picture of Coronation Street without drawing the archway at the end. Yet onscreen it got completely ignored.

It was like the archway had an invisibility cloak on it for decades until Nick Tilsley finally noticed it in 2010 when he was looking for a restaurant premises.

What about the other archways? Who owns them? What's inside them? And most importantly - what secrets lay within them?

I can't explain why, but I've always found this area of the set so intriguing. Probably partly because it was so ignored for years in the 80s and 90s.

I like Brian Dowling, he was very natural on SMTV, but why was he like a deer in the headlights when he presented BB?

Both were fast paced shows with a loud audience, that often went off-script and were a bit hectic. He was great when he did SMTV, really natural. But when he presented BB he was so stiff and wooden and really seemed a bit shell shocked or something. I know he said he didn't enjoy the experience and was having mental health struggles. Was it the job itself that caused the problems or did he just do a bad job because of external factors?

Do you think Mulder and Scully investigated this? What do you imagine it was about?

Do you think Basil still continued to use O'Reilly after this episode, or did he finally learn his lesson? I have a feeling he learned nothing

Thoughts?

For the *moment* I'm sick of them always raking up things from past movies, but ONE day far in the future I'd love it if they revisited the Becker murder/location and made it relevant to a plot

Just to repeat, I think the current movies need to take a long break from visiting the past all the time. Please don't reply saying this, because I agree. But I'm talking about one day far in the future after there's been a long break from raking up past things.

The Casey Becker murder and location is so iconic. It's the scene that started everything (for us, the audience, I know stuff came before involving Maureen but that's all been raked up 100 times). For most of us, we never felt as bad for a victim in a slasher prior to Scream as we did for Casey. Her death was pure anguish.

I'd love if they revealed more about her in a future movie. Maybe there was more to her death than we thought. Maybe her dumping Stu wasn't the only motivation. Maybe she knew something and was killed before she could tell. Something we still haven't found out yet. The location is so memorable too. We need to see it again one day.

When Miss Gulch transforms into the witch, I've seen some people say that...

She is actually transforming into the Wicked Witch of the East (the one who the house falls on) because it makes sense if they are both in the twister together. This would also be why the writers put in the line about the two witches being sisters (something that wasn't in the book), to explain their similarity.

Personally, I don't think it was intended to be seen that way, but I do think it's an interesting theory. Do you think it's an interesting theory?

Let's play a game! Say something really obvious about the show starting with the last letter of the previous comment. I'll start below

The show is set in Sunnydale.

Should there be an audio delay/lag when playing with Bluetooth headphones?

Just looking for a bit of advice really. I've just started playing some Tomb Raider games on a 2nd hand Xbox One X through my TV and the audio is delayed by like a second or half a second through my bluetooth headphones. Which doesn't sound like much it kinda is.

Is this just something that is accepted and put up with by gamers or have I got bad headphones?

Appreciate any advice thank you.

Does CEX not clean items?

I just bought an X Box and opened the controller when I got home and the controller was absolutely filthy. I don't just mean a little bit of dust or dirt. It was completely covered in grime, very sticky, and even SMELLED (the smell hit me as soon as I opened the box it was in).

Surely this isn't their regular practice, is it?

(Also, fucking disgusting that anyone would even take an item in this state into the shop without cleaningit first, but that's another story.)

The 2nd Weeping Angels story did everything wrong

Showing them moving.

Giving them a voice.

The nonsense about "an image of an Angel becomes an Angel". Which, it's taken me 16 years and I... I still can't. I just... ugh.

Talk about taking a fantastic simplistic idea (always the best kind) and removing everything scary about them by adding way too much.

Even though it's a little bit annoying, and I missed "Lara's Home" training level, I gotta say the training/intro in TR4 was really clever and a good idea and had a great twist as well

The way they intertwined the training with the actual plot and the introduction to the villain, it's a great idea and interesting to see it play out. Obviously it's not perfect and it's annoying in a way but it's still a clever idea.

Did you notice a change to the podcast/radio show after An Idiot Abroad?

I feel like Karl was too self aware towards the end and was deliberately saying things he knew were dumb/stupid because he was playing a part. I think this was always the case to a small extent but it seemed to be much more obnoxious later on.
