anyone else’s parents base their rules based on their own preference

idk what it it’s but my parents especially my mum bases the rules on what she wants, i can’t wear a shirt, not because it’s inappropriate, but because she doesn’t like how it looks, i can’t wear my hair a certain why, not because it’s high maintenance or smth, but because she doesn’t like it. and if i do it anyway she starts saying im disobeying her? am i the problem because im confused

milk before cereal is better than milk after cereal

i’m pretty much a cereal connoisseur so i take my shit extremely seriously. if you add milk after cereal the cereal at the top get drenched and eventually soggy first, then the cereal the bottom will get drenched and soggy next. if you like that crunch this is not the right combo. in my opinion, the best ratio would be 50/50 soggy to dry since i like to eat honey nut cornflakes so i really like to taste that honey and nuts more. if you do milk before cereal, the cereal at the bottom get soggy instantly then the top is completely dry as it’s stacked ontop of the soggy ones already

do you have to cut part of your hair for a lace front?

i saw a video on tiktok of a girl trying to expose a hairstylist for messing up her hair and not refunding her. this girl was left completely bald because the hairstylist gave her bald spots in the front of her head because the hairstylist offered to cut her hair so the wig can lay flat. correct me if i’m wrong but, don’t you just do cornrows to install the wig, since when did you ever have to trim down your hair??

do you think weave/wigs on a child (5-14 for example) is okay

i saw a tiktok about someone posting their 7 year old child since it was their first day of school. the child was wearing a long lace front wig. tbh, i think wigs on children that young doesnt make sense, at that age, it gives the wrong impressions to them, like their natural hair is something to hide. wigs are also not good for their hair health in general too, but what do you think

how do i stop being so uncomfortable with vulnerability

i’m 15 and i’ve always struggled with vulnerability. i know it probably stemmed from my parents always making me associate showing emotion with weakness. but i never knew just a couple words constantly being repeated to me from as young as 7/8 years old would continue to affect me years later. it’s gotten really bad i can’t lie, specifically crying only. crying in front of people honestly feels like a death sentence, like it feels like being naked in front of a crowd. and it makes it 10x worse that i overanalyse people’s facial expression and body language so i can already tell what some people are thinking. most panic attacks i have is only because of the shame and embarrassment i feel from crying in front of others. a lot of times i don’t even want to look people in the eye with tears in my eyes because of the shame and guilt i feel. i literally feel like im going to die when i feel tears above to fall when im in public, it’s gotten so bad that i even feel the same why when im crying just by myself. i even feel like throwing up or being sick because i feel like an embarrassment, all these intrusive thoughts flood in and my minds racing every single time. even if it’s not me crying and it’s someone else either online, in public or someone is about to cry in a show im watching, i feel like intense discomfort and disgust. what do i actually do, and please don’t say therapy because ive got immigrant parents who don’t believe in mental health

where do i make friends outside school

i have no trouble making friends in school as a girl (i’m 15) but how do i do it outside school, im not allowed to go anywhere, i mean ANYWHERE, i can’t even go out to buy things sometimes. the only place i regularly go to is church but everyone seems intimidating, so how would i reach out. there’s also social media where i have lots of mutuals around my age but how do i start conversation, i can’t just say can you be my friend. and what other places can i find people.

do you guys find it hard to form opinions on characters in shows/movies

im always watching a show/movie, specifically more so shows, all the time. but for some shows i find it hard to give opinions on characters and writing. its only till i read other people’s opinions is when i start forming my own. like i do have my own opinions on many things and many shows but its only if its very obvious by the writers that wrote the characters/storylines. i dont like this sooo much because it feels like im following others instead of having my own opinion. like im watching this show and im on s4 out of 6 seasons and am only making opinions on characters that have been there since s1. i also watched another show and finished it then i went onto tiktok and realised a character did something that completely changed my entire view on them that i just completely missed. please tell me im not the only one

people who make dating outside your race the biggest deal ever

i hate it a lot, even using the word ‘interracial’ to describe a relationship is weird, like mentioning the two people’s race is the only relevant factor in the entire relationship.

what hairstyle actually looks nice and doesn’t cause damage or take time

i feel like soo many styles cause damage or take too much time, braids can rip your edges out and your hair can break as you take them out, cornrows and give you traction alopecia, lace fronts can rip your edges out, quickweaves or sew ins make you have to fry your leave out in the front, mini twists can lock or matt your hair, half wigs can give you bald spots with the clips, slickbacks give you traction alopecia, miracle knots also can make your hair fall out, wash and gos make you spend soo much money on products that probably don’t work and they don’t even last a week, i don’t even know what to do

does anyone notice how African parents treat their daughters vs sons?

this sounds like an obvious thing that happens but i still wanna share. i’m a daughter of two african parents and i have a younger brother. my brother is two years younger than me and the conversations my parents have with me and him are completely different. my parents ALWAYS remind me that im going to be moving out soon or im going to university soon or im going to be having kids and a husband soon, my parents also love to pressure me into being a doctor OF COURSE. but my brother can literally be whatever he wants to be and they don’t say anything?? they never talk about his milestones or hes going to have kids soon or he’s going to move out. and then im the one expected to do housework, not to be useful but because i have to do it for my husband. i dont plan on getting married ANY TIME SOON BTW. and then anything i do wrong like if i wake up later than usual, ‘as a girl, why are you waking up late’ but my brother doesn’t get any of that like my brother has never put on deodorant ever but if i forget (which i dont, she just thinks i dont put enough), she says ‘as a lady you need to be clean’, does this happen to anyone else

i really do be your own people

i opened TikTok today and I literally saw a girl saying ‘ just one of my buns is my opp’s forehead head of hair’. If I got a pound for the amount of times I’ve seen videos like this I would actually be rich. Like I never understand why it’s only the black community that does this. You never go around seeing a white woman making fun of another white women’s bob, but when it’s a black community, it’s completely different. Like I’ve even experienced this myself when I decided to go into school with my natural hair in a puff and one of my closest friends mind you (not my friend anymore), said that the teachers might get me confused with a boy. and our hair length was basically the same. Like I just feel like people that say stuff like this and post it are so insecure within themselves because why are you bullying someone with something they can’t really control? Like yeah, you can control you know the products you used to grow your hair but growing your hair takes months maybe even years. and I don’t understand what’s wrong with a short Afro I even think that small puffs look really cute and maybe even better than the really big puffs, what’s you guys opinions?
