Returning to the game after giving up at launch, and wow. I missed this.
I absolutely loved this game when it came out. I thought the combat was so viscerating and exceptional and probably the tightest feeling souls like out there.
However, the over the top difficulty caused me to just give up. I made it past the Rangkus boss fight but it was so painful that future bosses just intimated me, and I couldn’t bare to sit through an hour+ of every future boss fight and perfecting every run.
I played through and finished the Mortal Shell 2 beta (LOVED IT. Highly recommend) and all the new equipment and combat mechanics reminded me of Khazan, so I decided to give it another try and come back to it.
Before coming back, I looked into if there was anything new, and to my surprise, they changed the difficulty options so that Expert is the previous “Normal” I played on. I toggled the difficulty down to the new “Normal” and I haven’t been able to put it down.
The combat and mechanics that I love are still here and the game is still challenging. I just don’t have to be “near-perfect” to have a successful attempt at anything now. It’s a way more fun and relaxed experience. The difficulty now feels like how Lies of P feels IMO (my favourite soulslike). But I heard they added some sort of easy option, but I’m talking about whatever normal difficulty is there. It feels way more balanced now.
I’m happy that Expert is there for those who still want that original challenge, but I kinda suck so I’m just happy there’s a new option for me
(If anyone asks why I didn’t play on easy to begin with at launch it’s because I’m addicted to trophies on PS5 lol)
First hour impressions: very disappointed. Wasted money.
I’m sorry I don’t usually like to go out of my way to be negative but hoping this post can help someone not make the same mistake I did buying this game.
Overall, very disappointed.. Playing on PS5 Pro and here are my first impressions with the first hour or so of the game:
Graphics are very ugly. They can look good at times with the art style and especially in certain screenshots/frames (the game’s promo material REALLY gets you).. but when trying to explore, everything is a big gruelling blur, with textures ripped from a PS3 era game. I don’t like to throw that around often. I think it’s overdone or usually over exaggerated, but there’s no over exaggeration here.. the game really is THAT ugly most of the time.
Combat is extremely loose and very basic/easy, despite the parrying feeling pretty good. It feels like there’s potential for depth to be here but enemies die so quickly that at least right now it feels like it’s not there.
Last biggest complaint is the exploration. The map/zone feels like one jumbled mess with no clear direction on how the game wants you to explore. Enemies appear awkwardly and it truly feels like they were just randomly placed in an area.
The way the jumping/traversal works also feels incredibly janky and adds to the whole lack of direction with the exploration.
The game’s combat reminds me of Wo Long but not in a good way. The exploration and and open world reminds me of Sonic Frontiers, but also not in a good way.
The best thing it has going for it is the Wolf abilities concept, and the parrying does feel nice and responsive but could be way more intuitive.
The complaints I have make me not want to even go back to the game. So sadly feel like I just wasted $90 CDN because Sony’s refund policy is garbage. If there was a way to gift a license away to someone, I’d do it. Learned my lesson. Will buy on Steam next time I do digital.
When did Wendy’s get rid of their grilled chicken??
Went to get a couple grilled chicken wraps and then noticed the picture looked like those processed soy chicken strips you can get in the grocery store. Went to browse the menu and their grilled chicken sandwich and other grilled chicken options are completely gone. Well there is this, but it’s not what it was. And it just looks bad.
It used to be a chicken fillet split in half for the wraps or a full one for the sandwich.
What happened??
Stranger to You may surpass my top albums of all time
I can’t put into words how much I love this album and how innovative it is in its genres. In a way that sticks, works and never feels like it’s trying to shove anything in somewhere that doesn’t fit (heh)
All the sounds and genre bending blends smoothly across the tracklist. Nothing feels out of place or abrupt. Everything comes naturally.
The production/layers are meticulously intentional and you can always hear everything that’s going on if you listen for it: Distant yet full sounding, haunting harmonies and synths, odd percussion- hand-drum-like beating over fuzzy brutal guitar tones, reverberating acoustic guitar cutting through every inch of instrumentation during a very aggressive yet melodic bridge (how did they do this and make it work Fangs??), drums that sound raw, real, in your face like you are standing right in front of a kit.
There’s so much more to say and I am being vague in my descriptions lacking highlighting which songs these are all present in, but for each one of these points I can find something parallel and great to say about the production in every song, and those are just my highlights. How any single person can hear this album and think “muddy” is so beyond my comprehension.
My current top album of all time is Absolution by Muse and I think this album surpasses it, especially from a top to bottom listening experience. The pacing is literally perfect. I just can’t get over it.
I am just a bit sad to see this album doesn’t seem to be getting as much wide praise. Maybe it’s a grower for most, but I was hooked from the start.
Back into the game after Black Flag Resynced
I always loved this game. I have about 60 hours in it but take breaks, but it’s very easy to get back into each time I come back. Also am in awe of the visuals each time I come back as well.
Think I will finally finish it on this playthrough- just a few screens from the last few days of gameplay. I think it’s def my fav looking AC game.
Using existing hot and readys for speciality pizzas?
About a month or two ago in Canada we got the extra extra pepperoni pizza added to the menu.
I’ve had it 3 times so far. The first time it was great, both the second and third time now it tasted over cooked and the cheese wasn’t melty. It was a little bubbly on top but underneath it was very firm.
Is it a normal thing for stores to take the existing hot and ready pepperoni pizzas they have and add the extra cheese/pepperoni on top and put it back in the oven for 5 mins if someone orders an extra extra pepperoni? I’ve thought about asking the store directly if that’s what they’re doing but wanted to see if it’s a normal thing first..
I don’t think I’ll be ordering one again to try because it hasn’t been great. And I normally love LC it is my fav place to get pizza. Just gonna have to stop ordering this pizza I think.
If the game requires an internet connection to even play it, you shouldn’t have to be actively playing the game for your fleet missions to progress.
That is all.
Does anyone actually even go to Dominos since they moved locations?
Maybe it’s just because I never order delivery, but it used to be my main go to pick-up spot for pizza on nights in a rush because they were relatively cheap and not bad pizza either.
Ever since they moved, it’s a royal pain in the ass to think about stopping there. There’s only two parking spots even close to the location since there’s only parking on the one side of the street where it’s located, and they are always full up.
The few times I have given it a try I’ve had to park quite far and always afraid I’m going to get a ticket. It happened before when I parked for 5 minutes to pick up one from Pizza Pizza.
But at least Pizza Pizza has Ferguson with parking on both sides. 241 is close to the capitol centre lot.. Toppers also has parking on both sides and around the corner at least.
But Dominos again only has the two spots in front of the restaurant and anything else is blocks away. The few times I did try Dominos new location there was nobody else in the store and didn’t see any other names on the order screen when you walk in. Whereas the old location was always pretty busy.
Makes me feel like I can’t be the only one that goes there less because of this?
Angry. Tooth still hurts after filling and it’s been 5 days. Think I will need RCT and crown
Fuuuuuuuu..: uugggghhhh… sorry just needed to let that out
In no way am I 100% certain, but I feel about 99%. That I’m gonna have to get RCT and a crown put on. And I’ll explain why this is so frustrating beyond knowing this is gonna cost me thousands
Recap to 7-8 years ago. I had tooth pain in my bottom right molar. Maybe 2-3/10. Was told by two different dentists nothing was wrong with the tooth and then it was just wear spots causing sensitivity. It wasn’t sensitive to hot or cold- only pressure.
The pain got eventually worse with pressure and if I hit the wrong spot on the tooth especially with anything crunchy, it was a sharp pain closer to 5-6/10. They even filled it and that didn’t help the pain. It was getting incredibly annoying so the doctor suggested after the filling it might be a crack. Got a 3D x ray done and they still didn’t find anything. But they recommended RCT if I really wanted the pain gone so I did.
My previous dental office was supposed to call me to schedule the crown appointment, and they never did. And I’ll be honest, my anxiety around having to pay thousands for a crown was not making me wanna pick up the phone and call them either, especially knowing it was their responsibility. But alas, my anxiety got the best of me and I waited a few weeks too long and then my tooth cracked for real, and I got a mild infection and had to get it pulled.
Flash forward 3-4 years later, and I started having some problems with the two molars both upper and lower on the left side. Surprise surprise since it’s the only side I can chew comfortably on.
Upper one had a cavity super sensitive to hot and cold and they filled it, and no more issues there, but the lower one didn’t have a cavity or crack or anything, just the mild pressure pain again- same exact prsssure pain my original right molar had. But they put a filling in it anyways to try and help with that pain
It’s been about 5 days since these two fillings got done, and the pressure pain is now at the 7-8/10 level. I can’t even chew any food on the tooth. The top tooth that had the cavity actually has zero issues at all, but the bottom one is incredibly painful if try to eat anything on it even soft foods since that’s all I’m eating right now.
I know it’s not a misaligned bite or anything like that. In fact, after my filling got done for the right molar the first time this happened, one of the things my old dentist tried to do was shave down the filling because they thought it was a misaligned bite. It was by far the most painful experience of my life having that get done. Drilling and shaving away at my sore tooth- it was intolerable and I stil don’t forget that pain to this day.
Judging by how this pain feels, I know that trying that is only gonna make me relive that god awful experience.
So alls this to say, from what I’ve read it sounds like I either have some sort of micro fracture or permanently damaged nerve and that I need RCT and crown to fix this at all.
However, if I am overreacting and if I should just wait out this pain for a few more weeks, should I? Is this normal? Why ddoes my top tooth that had the cavity not have this issue but the bottom one does?

Whoever designed the Fanorano minigame
I’d like to have a word.. maybe a few words.. outside…. Please.
Browsing the PlayStation store and sorting by Best Selling, Marathon is lower than #150 and is below a 2+ year old baseball game.
I know how the series is gonna end and how everyone is gonna get home.
Every town person needs to lock arms in a circle around the hole they made by pulling out the tree and say in unison “hey hey hey now.. it’s okay. Woah woah woah… I GOTTA GO!”
Everyone will then be able to go home and leave the town. It’s that simple
We don’t want your over complications.
Seen some recent feedback that the game is too “simple”.
I for one could not be more thrilled by the simplicity of the dungeons and overall gameplay.
I’m a parent to a toddler and finding time to game is nearly impossible some days. Knowing I can pick up and play and tackle a few caves with light to moderate puzzles while still enjoying exploring and progressing the main quests in the world without it being an open world slogfest has been a dream come true.
I don’t want some sprawling dungeon game with 30 levers to solve some grandiose puzzle that takes me 3 hours to do and by the time I can find time in between when I can play I’ll likely forgotten what I have done and need to restart the whole thing unless I keep some journal.
I like the simplicity of the combat because the depth comes from the magicite system and trying out different things.
There’s way more to praise here and I do have some critiques about the dialogue/VA but so far that is my only critique and it is my fav game of the year next to 007 First Light.
We don’t want your over complications and for those that want that, there are plenty of other games out there that are more complex.
Signed a gamer dad that wants a little more simplicity in their games nowadays.
Anyone try the buffet at Gangnam Korea yet?
If so how is it? What kind of selection do they have for the buffet? What are the prices like? Is it comparable to the buffet places we used to have?
Mystery solved for the uncooked melts?
I tried one of these yesterday and it was fantastic. It was scorching hot when it got handed to me and I even had to wait a good 5 minutes before I could even eat it. Cheese was super melted and bread was nice and crisp and toasty. I was really impressed.
Went to watch and outdoor softball game today with my fam and we had some other errands to do, so I ended up getting one for everyone in my family to bring to the game as I was hyping up what I had yesterday.
It was beyond disappointing. They were full on room temperature. They weren’t even warm.
I don’t know how, but it was. Feels like I wasted 20 bucks on dinner for us because they were pretty gross.
The person ahead of me ordered a wrap. The only reason I know this is because they took forever and a day to place their order and another week to receive their order at the window. When it was my turn to pull ahead I HAD to ask what the heck did that person just order?? The employee was super friendly and laughed and told me they just ordered a wrap but they had a bunch of modifications done to it.
It then got me thinking they likely have two different grill settings: one for toasting their wraps and the other for the melts.
They probably forget to switch the settings on the grill for our sandwiches and the wrap..
So it’s technically the restaurants fault but I also blame the person who ordered the wrap before us, only because we spent 3 years in the drive thru because of them..
But I think this might solve the inconsistency mystery as to why this product seems to be so hit and miss for everyone.
[COD] I feel like the rumoured Black Ops ports is just some grand psiop to get people hyped and talking about COD again in general just to pull it from us like they did with MW2 remastered
Feels like the exact same thing all over again. I genuinely don’t think these Black Ops ports are actually going to come out. I think they play around with the idea of them to stir up the rumour mill and get people talking, but their number one goal will ALWAYS be the most amount of active users possible on to the newest COD game.
They did the exact same thing with MW2 remastered. This project was basically confirmed completed, and they cancelled it to funnel nostalgia from this game into future COD projects because they knew that would be a better business move. They likely purposefully let all the information leak about that game just to draw on discussion and interest alone.
Why on earth would they be releasing a port of beloved games that would likely take sales away from the newest title, mere months before their biggest release of the year that they have months left of marketing to do on that product on its own? Especially when the Black Ops games have almost nothing to do with MW games.
It wouldn’t make any sense. As much as I’d love it, it is all just cope and rumour mill. It’s not happening.
My number one hope for Guild Wars 3
I’ll start off by saying I am an extremely casual MMO player. My fav MMOs to date are RuneScape and New World.
RuneScape is still fun but compared to modern games, it does feel very.. old? And I know that’s kinda the point, but while it’s charming, it doesn’t have the same punch that I want when playing a modern game.
New World came out and all of my favourite systems from RuneScape were implemented expertly, specifically, the gathering skills and progressions of such. My only gripes with it over RuneScape was that nodes were limited, meaning multiple players couldn’t farm the same materials at a time, and I feel like the raw materials weren’t implemented into the game’s economy very well, compared to RS.
I love how both NW and RuneScape have the ability for your gathering skills to become a gameplay loop and progression system in and of itself. It feels like a real goal you are working towards in the game, and especially RuneScape with its player based economy and buying and selling of materials
GW2 sort of almost got it right, with upwards tiering equipment pieces to harvest new materials in higher zones, but it didn’t scratch the specific itch of making these systems feel like their very own progression.
There’s no other game to my knowledge that has done this. And with New World shutting down, I hope that we can have this gameplay loop fully realized again in a new and modern MMO.
