"Judge Sid Harle has recused Judge John Roach from the appeal hearing in Karmelo Anthony's murder case, prompting the appointment of a new judge for the new motion.

COLLIN COUNTY, Texas — Judge John Roach, who presided over Karmelo Anthony's track meet stabbing case where a jury convicted him of Austin Metcalf's murder, was recused by Judge Sid Harle in the appeal hearing on Wednesday.

"It is a very high bar to recuse," Harle said. "I serve on the Judicial Conduct Commission. I believe he could be fair in this matter," but that's not "the test."
