Florida officials confirmed one of the largest missing youth recovery operations in U.S. history. During the 5-day "Operation Statewide Shield," authorities located 163 missing children aged between 2 months and 17 years old. The massive effort stretched across Florida, 6 other states, Puerto Rico, and 12 countries.

The cases ranged from runaways, neglect, unsafe living environments, and custody disputes to severe mistreatment and exploitation. The family had arrived to pick up the father's car after his arrest, assuming the son would be safe since he is an American citizen with a driver's license. However, the situation escalated.

​Despite the teen telling agents "I'm a minor" and witnesses repeatedly shouting "He's a minor!", the agents grabbed the 17-year-old by his hair and attempted to throw him to the ground. They then repeatedly slammed him against his father's truck (the vehicle he was there to retrieve). A video recorded at a gas station in Lake Worth, Florida, shows an ICE/Border Patrol agent demanding ID from a U.S. citizen. When the citizen asks why, the agent explicitly responds, "Because you're an immigrant." Before even verifying his identity, agents grab his hands and place him in handcuffs. Bystanders immediately step in to question how someone can be arrested without even being identified first, but the agents ignore them and walk the man to their vehicle.

The Supreme Court has established that roving Border Patrol agents must have reasonable suspicion based on specific circumstances to stop and question someone regarding their immigration status—and apparent ethnicity alone is legally insufficient. A group of law enforcement officers, comprised of SWAT and U.S. Marshals, sustained non-life-threatening injuries when a porch gave way underneath them while attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a property in Missouri. The warrant was for 26-year-old Jacob Muñoz, who was convicted of possession of child pornography. Although Muñoz was not present at the property at the time of the porch collapse, officials confirmed that he later turned himself in.
