Does anybody have any experience cooking lamb shanks?

I'm thinking of getting some for someone's birthday soon, and I was planning on grilling them...

Should I do anything special?

I'm planning on marinating the lamb first for at least a couple of hours. But other than that, do I really need to do anything special?
